We won’t jettison Iwuanyanwu’s vision for Nigeria, S/East – Ohanaeze

Leaders of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide have resolved to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss the issues of restructuring, Nnamdi Kanu’s release and burial plans for their late President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Chairman of the National Burial Planning Committee and secretary general of the organisation, Senator Ben Obi and Chief Okey Emuchay respectively disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

It would be recalled that Iwuanyanwu, an elder statesman, died on July 25, 2024, after a brief illness. He was aged 82. His burial is slated for November, 2024.

Obi said Ohanaeze would request the president to immortalise Chief Iwuanyanwu as an elder statesman who contributed to the socio-economic and political development of the country.

He said, “We will be visiting the president. We are sure that because of all that he has done, the president will do the needful.”

Secretary General of Ohanaeze, Okey Emuchay, also said, “We leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo will continue to canvas issues that he started, including the issue of restructuring and Nnamdi Kanu’s release. We will not relent in seeking fairness and justice.”

Former Chief of Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika; Senator representing Imo West, Osita Izunaso and many other leaders in the South East were part of the press conference.
