(SIMLA, Colo.) — At a Celebration of Life ceremony on Monday, Sept. 16, the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) joined the Simla Volunteer Fire Department in honoring the memory of a Simla volunteer firefighter.
CSFD posted on Facebook about the memorial, which took place on Monday morning, for volunteer firefighter and certified EMT Dalton Hisle. CSFD said it was honored to be invited to fly the American flag at Hisle’s celebration of life at Simla High School.
According to Hisle’s family, he was originally inspired to volunteer with the Simla Fire Department after the loss of his family home in 2017 due to a lightning strike.
“[Hisle] had a love for helping and caring for others in his community and surrounding communities,” said CSFD. “Our hearts are heavy for Dalton’s family and community… We send our love and prayers.”
