Russian warlord claims Elon Musk gifted, then remotely disabled his Tesla Cybertruck

The leader of the Chechen Republic in Russia expressed his dismay after he claimed that Elon Musk gifted him – and then remotely disabled – his Cybertruck.

Ramzan Kadyrov first claimed Musk gave him the Cybertruck on Aug. 17 in a post to Telegram, saying that he was “pleased” to test the technologically advanced truck gifted to him by the “respected” Tesla CEO.

“A real invulnerable and fast animal. A maneuverable car that develops excellent speed and overcomes obstacles…a very comfortable car,” Kadyrov’s post reviewing the truck read via Google Translate. “Based on such excellent characteristics, the Cybertruck will soon be sent to the North-East Military District zone, where it will be in demand under appropriate conditions…I am sure this ‘beast’ will bring a lot of benefits to our soldiers.”

To top off the customization, Kadyrov even mounted a machine gun turret to the truck’s bed.

The day after Kadyrov’s post, Musk took to X to ask if people were “seriously so ret-rded” that they thought he would donate a Cybertruck to a Russian general.

“That’s amazing,” Musk said at the thought of donating the truck, adding two “rolling on the floor laughing” emojis.

The leader of Chechnya – a republic in the southern part of Russia that borders the nation of Georgia – went back to Telegram on Thursday to say that Elon Musk “did something ugly.”

“He gives expensive gifts from the heart, and then turns them off remotely,” the post read.  “The vehicle coped well with combat missions…demonstrated maneuverability and good crew protection.”

“So, Musk recently disabled the Cybertruck remotely,” the post continued.  “I had to tow the iron horse…how so, Elon? Is this how it’s done?”

On Friday, Kadyrov claimed that two more trucks had been sent and that the remote shutdown did not affect them and posted video of the two trucks driving offroad packed with armed soldiers.

“You can’t think of a better advertisement for [the] Cybertruck,” Kadyrov posted. “We already know what their use should be.”

Musk did not immediately comment on the alleged remote shutdown or the latest video posted by Kadyrov.
