Reality stars accused of ‘storming out’ of Emmy Awards after rival show The Traitors bags win

TV stars ‘stormed out’ after The Traitors won the reality award at the Emmys in Los Angeles.

The Peacock series was named the Outstanding Reality Competition Programme – beating RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Voice and Top Chef.

RuPaul’s Drag Race team were accused of walking out after not winning[/caption]

An eagle-eyed journalist in the audience picked up on potential tension between the rival shows during the reveal.

“After the category was announced the team from Drag Race (including all the queens) cleared out and headed to the lobby,” wrote Chris Gardner from The Hollywood Reporter.

He also shared a video of the cast leaving the auditorium.

The show was on fire, as host Alan Cumming was also named Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Programme.

He beat Survivor’s Jeff Probst, Top Chef’s Kristen Kish, RuPaul’s Drag Race’s RuPaul and to the title.

Furious stars have argued the journalist’s claims and said that they needed a toilet and refreshment break.

Drag Race’s Plane Jane said: “It was a commercial break and the girls wanted a drink. We all stayed until the end of the ceremony.”

Amanda Tori Meating agreed: “It was a commercial break are we allowed to go p*** girl”

A fan also commented on the situation: “People are saying they’re rude but CLEARLY, it was a down time, no one was presenting on stage and people were walking out and coming in during this “break time.” So the “clear out” was not rude.”

But some fans are unsure about the drama, with one claiming that the Drag Race stars were “extremely disrespectful”.

“Wow that’s rather rude,” said another.

The big winners of the night were Shogun – with the Disney+ drama landing record-breaking wins.

Shogun scooped an incredible 18 Emmys in total, including for Outstanding Drama Series.

Netflix’s highly acclaimed Baby Reindeer walked away with Best Limited series while its creator and lead star Richard Gadd bagged outstanding writing for a limited or anthology series or movie.

Elsewhere, Prime Video’s Hacks beat off The Bear to win Best Comedy Series, but Christopher Storer did win outstanding directing for a comedy series for The Bear.

Despite ranking in Netflix’s charts and getting a second series, The Gentleman walked away almost empty handed.

But the British were well represented by The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki as the star walked away with a gong for Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.

During the ceremony John Oliver launched into a sweary rant after producers tried to rush his winner’s speech.

The Last Week Tonight presenter was paying tribute to his late dog when music began to play to usher him off stage.

Not giving in, John remained on stage to finish his speech and told show bosses ‘f**k you’.
