An Orange County couple was arrested after police discovered that they were allegedly in possession of child pornography, and it’s believed that they could have more victims.
According to the Costa Mesa Police Department, 30-year-old Lake Forest resident Jonathan Garduno was in Costa Mesa to meet up with a 15-year-old girl on Sept. 7. The teen, however, turned out to be a Special Investigations detective who had been posing as a minor online.
Garduno was arrested, but was released on bail the same day. His cell phone was booked as evidence, police said.
On that cell phone, authorities found videos and images of child pornography. The evidence also implicated Garduno’s live-in girlfriend, 29-year-old Khyla Kauffeld.
On Friday, authorities executed a search warrant at the couple’s home. There, they found more evidence of child pornography.
Both suspects were then arrested. Garduno was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography, sending/selling child pornography and distribution of obscene matter depicting minors. Kauffeld was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography.
Garduno and Kauffeld both were later released from jail on bail.
