SCHOOL uniforms can make a parents life a lot easier but one mum learned that the strict rules surrounding them often don’t.
The disgruntled parent shared the extreme stance her daughter’s school has taken on everything from bows to jumpers.

In a post on Mumsnet, the user explained the harsh measures the school has in place.
The unnamed woman said her 15-year-old daughter has just started year 11.
According to the mum, the school wasted no time enforcing their uniform policies.
“They went back last week and the teachers were pulling children out the classroom to uniform check shoes, nails, blazers, lashes,” she explained.
While the parent acknowledged that this is a requirement, she couldn’t believe the extreme actions the school took against minor dress code infringements.
“They were cutting the bows off of the girls’ school socks if they had them on,” she said.
“But they also told the children that they weren’t allowed to wear their jumpers.”
She explained that the additional layer is a plain black V-neck “which is stated in the school uniform policy.”
“It doesn’t state that the jumpers can only be worn at certain times,” she added.
“Their reasoning is that it isn’t cold enough yet and they will tell the children when they can start wearing them.”
The woman explained that her daughter “feels the cold so easily” and “she near enough always has a coat on.”
“Obviously in class they have to take it off but she said today the classrooms were really cold,” she added.
The poster said she was considering emailing the school about the dress code.
“It just seems like a bit of a power move with the whole ‘we will tell you when you can wear it,’” she explained.

IF you can’t get targeted help from your council, you might have some other options available to you.
In some areas, you can talk directly to your school, which might be able to offer you clothing.
Or, you might be able to get cheap garments from low-budget shops or charity stores.
Some charities offer help to families in need too.
But bear in mind charities often have a limited amount of money to give and usually have specific criteria which must be met in order to get a grant.

If you’re not eligible for a school uniform grant you might be able to get help through the Household Support Fund.
“That’s ridiculous. Why would they want children to be cold?” asked one reader.
“The bows thing is awful too – fair enough to ban bows but a letter to parents goes home, the children [shouldn’t] get pulled out and humiliated or their property vandalised.”
“Bows cut off socks? I’d be the parent expecting new socks to be supplied by the school pronto,” said another commenter.
“Jumpers, it’s against their human rights to be deprived of the means to keep warm.”
“It’s literally the point of jumpers, that the individual takes it off and on as they need,” commented a third person.
“It makes no sense to restrict like this, [they] should be warm enough when learning.”
