Man arrested after leading law enforcement on chase spanning three ENC counties

JONES COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — A man was arrested after a law enforcement chase that spanned three counties Thursday night.

The chase began in Lenoir County and went through Craven County before ending in Jones County with the driver being arrested on multiple charges.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. after law enforcement officers stopped a silver Dodge Avenger on U.S. Highway 70 near Barwick Station Road in La Grange.

The driver, Skyler Potter, 23, of North Topsail Beach, had an outstanding order for arrest from Pender County. When deputies approached Potter’s vehicle, he sped away. The chase ended in Jones County when tire deflation devices were put down.

Potter was arrested and charged with:

  • Felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Reckless driving
  • Violating stop signs
  • Speeding 80 in a 35 mph zone
  • Driving an unregistered motor vehicle
  • Driving with no insurance
  • Failure to maintain lane control

Potter’s order for arrest from Pender County is a felony for offering bribes. He was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond for the Lenoir County charges and a $20,000 secured bond for the Pender County charges.
