Alexander-Arnold, 25, is already a minority shareholder in French Formula 1 team Alpine and is now interested in a new investment, this time in a football club.

Together with his father Michael, who manages his son through an investment fund in London, the duo have increased their interest in getting their next deal done.

According to The teamAlexander-Arnold has made a €100m (£84m) bid to buy Nantes.

The reported bid comes after Michael met with Nantes owner Waldemar Kita earlier this week.

The two met in London on Thursday to discuss a possible deal. They have been in contact for more than a year.

They first spoke via video call last summer, and recently met in person in Geneva, Switzerland.

A third meeting has now taken place, as Alexander-Arnold and his father want to complete the takeover of Nantes.

Kita has been Nantes’ owner since 2007, but he has reportedly become fed up with the club’s sporting and financial problems of late.

However, according to sources at L’Equipe, the Kita family denies any interest in selling the club.

Kita also held talks with English businessman Leigh Hunt in 2019, with talks lasting four months over a deal worth over €100 million (£84 million).

However, Kita called off the sale after becoming furious over the proposed takeover being leaked to the media.

Five years later, a new offer from Alexander-Arnold is on the table, but it remains to be seen whether Kita will accept it.

The 71-year-old French-Polish businessman has become less popular with Nantes fans over time, despite the club winning the Coupe de France two years ago.

That was their first victory since winning the French title for the eighth time in 2001.

Nantes have started the new season positively, taking seven points from their first four games, which puts them in fifth place in the top French division.
