Lamar Gray Jr. helped UWA to a win a Saturday

Vicksburg native and former Warren Central High School standout football player Lamar Gray Jr. helped the University of West Alabama to a win over Limestone. The Tigers pulled off a 33-14 win at home in Livingston, Alabama.

Gray finished with a total of seven tackles and two pass deflections. He now has 13 tackles and two pass deflections on the year at the defensive back position.

Before joining UWA, Gray spent two seasons starring at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi. One of his best performances was in 2020 against Pearl River Community College where he grabbed 14 tackles in a 27-24 win. 

During his time at Co-Lin, Gray finished with a total of 39 tackles, two interceptions, and one pass deflection. 

Gray is a 2019 graduate of Warren Central where he played under Head Coach Josh Morgan. In his 2017 junior season, he helped the Vikings to a 9-4 season where he racked up 98 tackles, two sacks, and one interception. In his senior year, he had 85 tackles, one sack and one interception.

With the help of Gray, UWA is now 3-0 on the year as they previously picked up wins over Miles College and Tusculum. Defensively they are only allowing 12.6 points per game in 2024. They will travel to face West Florida on Saturday.
