After finding out what she needed to change, Amber took to TikTok to be a part of the 719,500 people to share advice on ‘hair growth.’

She captioned the video: “This can be the reason for your frizzy dry hair.

“Follow my tips to avoid damage.”

Amber revealed that if your hair is breaking then it may be to do with “hard water damage.”

She explained that the signs to look out for are dry frizzy hair, hair breakage, lack of shine, and light hair strands.

Hair experts have also previously revealed that hard water can contribute to dry hair. Hard water contains high levels of minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which can build up on the hair and scalp.

This mineral buildup can make it difficult for moisture to penetrate the hair shaft, leading to dryness, brittleness, and dullness.

Over time, hard water can also strip the hair of its natural oils, exacerbating these issues.

Amber claims that this can be fixed by applying a hair oil, and leaving it in for a length of time before showering.

She says: “This will protect your hair from hard water and shampoo damage.”

Amber also recommends using a filtered shower head as well.

The video gained 240 comments as people rushed to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “Thanks for the tip.”

Another added: “Maybe I should try using a shower filter.”

A third praised the hack and said: “Maybe I should try using a shower filter.”

Another suggestion that could be causing dry hair is how many times you use shampoo.

When it comes to washing our hair, the usual routine involves a single round of shampoo followed by conditioner.

However, according to Kash Bishop, a senior stylist at Neville Hair and Beauty, double shampooing can be beneficial for certain individuals.

Kash says: “Double shampooing can be beneficial for those with very oily hair or a lot of product buildup.

“The first shampoo helps to remove dirt, oil, and any styling products from the hair and scalp.

“The second shampoo can then focus on specific hair needs, such as adding volume, controlling frizz, or providing extra nourishment.

“However, for those with dry or damaged hair, double shampooing might strip the hair of essential oils, leading to further dryness and damage.

“Therefore, it’s important to consider your hair type and its specific needs before deciding whether double shampooing is necessary for you.”

The 4 stages of the hair growth cycle

Hair experts at Philip Kingsley shared the four stages of the hair growtn cycle are: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen

Anagen Phase: Also known as the ‘Growth Phase’ or ‘Active Phase’, is when the cells in the root of your hair are most rapidly dividing so more new hair is formed.

During the Anagen Phase, hair grows around half an inch a month [about six inches a year], and faster in the summer than in winter.

This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.

Catagen Phase: Following the Anagen Phase, your hair cycle enters a short transitional phase known as the Catagen Phase, which signals the end of active hair growth and cuts individual hairs off from the blood supply and from the cells that produce new hair.

Approximately three percent of all hairs are in this stage at any time and it lasts for around 10 days.

Telogen Phase: The third stage of your natural hair growth cycle is the Telogen Phase, a resting period when strands remain in their follicles but are not actively growing.

An estimate of 10-15 percent of your hairs are in the Telogen Phase at any given moment.

The Telogen Phase lasts around three months or 100 days.

Exogen Phase: The final stage of the Hair Growth Cycle, when individual hair strands are released from their follicles and fall out.

Now the whole process begins again.
