People were stunned by the clever idea[/caption]

In the post the woman had revealed she made a privacy fence – clearly to keep nosy neighbours and people passing by out.

Her front garden was gorgeous with a huge porch, egg chair and rattan furniture set to relax on.

But of course, it was hard to really enjoy it with everyone able to peep in.

That’s what the woman came up with a clever idea to give herself some privacy.

She already had a rug on her porch but decided to use them for something else.

The black and white patterned rug was sprawled out on the floor of her patio – but she bought two extra to make into a massive privacy wall.

“Look what I did with my Aldi rugs, I turned them into a privacy wall,” she revealed.

She had framed the rugs with wood to keep them upright and placed them on the side of her porch where her neighbour’s garden faced.

In doing so, she could enjoy some privacy without forking out on actual fence.

A typical fence panel costs on average £30 according to B&Q but the Aldi outside rugs cost just £12.99 saving her a pretty penny.

The post was shared to the Facebook group, Small Space Living, and it was a hit with over 300 hundred likes.

people were quick to praise her for the clever idea.

One person wrote: “Great idea.”

Another commented: “Awesome job!”

How high can a garden fence be?

Despite what many people think a garden fence can be as high as 100m but you need to get planning permission for any fence taller than 2m.

Any fence under 2m does not need planning permission.

However, there are some complications to this.

If you are thinking about front garden fences, restrictions state that fences alongside a driveway can be a maximum of 1m or 3ft.

You would need to get planning permission for putting a trellis on a fence of 2m.

But, if any plant that you grow on that trellis exceeds 2m, you do not need to obtain a permit for the growing plant.

“Very smart idea,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Very attractive.”

“Perfect, love it,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Clever idea, looks lovely.”
