  • Residents are evacuated from Oxford Falls

Residents of Sydney’s Northern Beaches are being urgently evacuated as firefighters battle an out-of-control blaze.

NSW Rural Fire Service issued a warning for 100 Meatworks Avenue in Oxford Falls on Saturday afternoon.

The fire is raging near Oxford Falls Rd, 2km northwest of Beacon Hill.

Residents of Pinduro Place, Jersey Place, Maybrook Avenue and Kirrang Street were told it was ‘too late to leave’ and they should seek shelter.

A fire is believed to have been reclassified as ‘out of control’ to mitigate the hazard and is currently burning east towards Maybrook Avenue.

An alert has been issued for the area, warning residents that the fire is out of control and that there is now an ‘elevated threat level’.

Residents in the area surrounding Maybrook Retirement Village are urged to prepare for possible evacuation now.

More coming soon.
