(FREMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — The Humane Society of Fremont County (HSFC) is still in need of donations for the shelter.
On Sept. 12, HSFC announced via Facebook it was reaching the ‘bottom of the food barrel.’ It said there were “too many mouths to feed” and it was hard to keep a steady supply. The Humane Society asked the community to donate various items such as dry food for dogs and cats, hotdogs, string cheese, kitty litter, and veggies for the rabbits.
On Monday, Sept. 16, HSFC gave an update on social media, showing treats the shelter had asked for such as cheese, hotdogs, and dog food.
“Our community has always been so supportive especially during these hard times when we have so many mouths to feed,” wrote FCHS on Facebook. “We will continue to work tirelessly for these animals and our community. Thank you all for the food, and treats and for ALWAYS being our champion. We really are so appreciative.”
HSFC serves several municipalities through Fremont and Custer Counties, including Florence, Cañon City, and Westcliffe. According to the HSFC website, the shelter currently has over 30 pets for adoption, including a rabbit named Linguine.
HSFC also wrote on Facebook it still needed dry dog food and cat food.
