The Cape Town Magistrate’s Court has granted former Democratic Alliance (DA) member and Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for housing Malusi Booi bail of R250 000.

Booi and his nine co-accused including his ex-wife are accused of being involved in a R1 billion tender fraud within the City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements directorate.

MALUSI BOOI GRANTED BAIL

Initially, Booi was suspended in March 2023 following a search and seizure operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Booi and four co-accused were granted R250 000 bail each while five others were granted R25 000 bail each.

WHAT ARE THE BAIL CONDITIONS?

As part of the bail conditions Booi is not allowed to:

  • Contact any witness or the state directly or indirectly
  • Leave South Africa until the case is finalised
  • Leave the Eastern Cape (where he resides) without contacting the investigating officer and informing him about where he is travelling to and how long he will not be in the province.
