Did Coca Cola End More Than A Decade Old Partnership With Taylor Swift-Viral News Explored

Post the Kamala Harris/Donald Trump live debate last Tuesday, pop icon Taylor Swift took to Instagram to endorse Kamala Harris’s candidacy.

This led to rumours that soft drink behemoth Coca-Cola had rescinded its long-term partnership with the star.

Did Coca Cola End Partnership With Taylor Swift?

The genesis of this rumour can be traced to a post that was uploaded by the SpaceX Fanclub on their official Facebook page on September 15, 2024. The caption of the post read,

‘Coca-Cola ends long-term partnership with Taylor Swift: We don’t support her endorsement.’

The post has led to dismay and confusion among netizens. However, on closer examination of the post, everything is laid bare.

The post is satirical and this has been confirmed by the SpaceX Fanclub, which stated,

‘This is a satire post,’ confirming that the rumours are false and precipitated by the satire post.

The bio of the SpaceX Fanclub also states that they post only satire and nothing on it is real.

Apart from the posts, a complete write-up has been posted by Esspots, and in the article, it is claimed that the soft drink giant had ended its contract with Taylor Swift because it did not approve of her political inclinations. The article goes on to state that what was once a very harmonious relationship between the American soft drink maker and the pop sensation has gone sour.

According to Esspots.com:

‘Within days of the announcement, some of the biggest brands in the world were backing away from their multimillion-dollar contracts with the star, hoping to avoid the PR mess Swift had inadvertently created.’

There are also rumours that the pop sensation has lost $125 million in ‘brand deals’ following her ‘big endorsement.’

The rumours led to users posting comments on social media from both sides of the spectrum.

One Swift supporter commented,

‘Worthwhile tax deduction. You go, Taylor! Thank you!’

Another user shared the post and said (archived),

‘Good, she needs to be exposed for the demonic influence she is.’

A third user posted,

‘Good, you ungrateful singer and movie stars.’

Many readers accepted the news as true, but there was no evidence that Swift’s endorsement resulted in financial loss for the pop star. Also, no credible news outlet published the news.

However, the rumours are not true, and the relationship between Coca-Cola and the pop sensation, which dates back to 2013, is very much in place, and there have been no official statements from either Coca-Cola or Taylor Swift.
