Crowley County Sheriff’s contract with Ordway expired

(CROWLEY COUNTY, Colo.) — The contract between the Crowley County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and the town of Ordway has expired, and while negotiations are underway, the sheriff wants residents to know his deputies are still enforcing the law in the town.

Ordway is located in the Arkasas River Valley north of Rocky Ford. It’s the county seat of Crowley County, and it is also where the Sheriff’s Office is located.

Sheriff Terry Reeves told FOX21 News that there has not been a contract for about a year, though negotiations are underway to get the contract back in place. Reeves said he expects it to be signed during the week of Sept. 15.

Reeves added that whether a contract has been in place or not, law enforcement has always remained in Ordway.
