Clouds, chance of light rain moving through Southern California Thursday and Friday

Southern California will look for a chance of light rain falling throughout the region for parts of Thursday and Friday.

“It won’t be enough for measurable rain in most areas but you could get the windshield wipers going just a little bit,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

The clouds are expected to peel back a bit Thursday afternoon, allowing some sunshine to peak through, Henry said.

Heavy rain is more likely to fall further to our north, where the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch.

The watch is in place through Thursday evening for several areas including Cuyama Valley, northern Ventura County mountains, San Luis Obispo County interior valleys and San Luis Obispo County mountains, including the Hurricane and Apache burn scars.

The KTLA Future Cast shows a chance of light showers lingering in the Los Angeles area into Friday morning.

“It should be noted that the trough position is favorable for wrap-around shower activity across the interior areas,” the Weather Service stated in its forecast discussion.

KTLA Future Cast
The KTLA Future Cast shows widespread moisture forecast for Southern California on Friday, Sept. 19, 2024.

Warmer and dryer conditions are expected to develop over the weekend and continue into early next week.

By Monday, afternoon temperatures will be in the mid-90s to near triple digits again for some inland areas.
