A DESPERATE search has been launched for a much-loved Channel 4 star as cops grow “increasingly concerned for her welfare”.
Katherine Watson, 50, was last seen in the Heaton Road area of Newcastle at around 1pm on Thursday September 19.
Katherine Watson disappeared yesterday afternoon[/caption]Katherine, known as Katie by many, featured in the popular TV series Geordie Hospital.
The series followed the extraordinary work of NHS staff in Newcastle’s hospitals, and displayed Katie’s work as a chaplain at the RVI and Freeman.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “The 50-year-old was last seen in the Heaton Road area at around 1pm today, and we’re growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.
“Searches are ongoing to locate Katherine, who is described as a white woman, around 5ft 6ins in height, of slim build, with short light grey hair.
“Katherine was last seen wearing a green hat, a back pack, with dark trousers and a dark hooded top.
“She has a number of tattoos on her arms, as well as a military tattoo on her chest.
“She has links to the Heaton and Jesmond areas of Newcastle – but could have travelled further afield.
“Any info? Please get in touch by sending us a direct message, using the live chat function or report forms on our website, or by calling 101 quoting reference: NP-20240919-0717.”
A retired doctor who worked with Katie at the hospital wrote a heartfelt message on social media following her shock disappearance.
“For many of us at Newcastle Hospitals she was our rock during the worst parts of the Covid Pandemic,” they penned.
Another described her as “one of the most wonderful women I have had the pleasure of knowing”.
Katie served as a Royal Military Police veteran and worked in conflict zones such as in the Balkans and Northern Ireland.
Daniel Dubois’ coach Don Charles responds to pay row after going missing in build-up to title fight with Anthony Joshua
DANIEL DUBOIS’ coach has spoken out amid his absence ahead of the fight with Anthony Joshua to deny “vicious” rumours of a split.
Dubois defends his IBF heavyweight world title against AJ on Saturday in what is expected to be British-record 96,000 sellout.
Antony Joshua facing off with Dubois[/caption]But ahead of the Wembley war, his head trainer Charles has been missing from all the fight week media activities.
It led to speculation of a rift in the camp and a sensational split just days before the fight.
But Charles insisted – as have Dubois’ team all week – that he has been ill and chose to stay away from his star fighter as a precaution.
He said on talkSPORT: “I’ve been bedridden for the last five days.
“We finished camp successfully like a week ago. And then on Sunday, I felt not feeling very well.
“It’s a head cold, but a very bad head cold and I’ve been in bed literally trying to shake it off.
“The most sensible thing to do was not to go anywhere near my fighter because can you imagine if I gave this to him? Then there will be no fight.
“So, like I said, the most sensible thing is what we did.

“I spoke to his father, and we obviously decided the most sensible thing to do is stay away and not give this to anybody because this could easily spread right through our camp.
“And then, God knows who else can contract it and then it jeopardises this big show.”
There had been allegations of a fallout between coach Charles and Dubois’ influential father and manager Stan.
Former boxer-turned-media personality Spencer Fearon added fuel to the fire by claiming there had been a rift.
And promoter Frank Warren also said: “I know there is a situation between them, which was over money.
“But that is not my business that’s their business. I spoke to Don, Stan and Daniel.
“Don is ill with the flu and in bed. He wanted to come to the weigh-in and I told him not to and to leave it until Saturday.
“If Daniel caught it on Saturday, the symptoms won’t hit him until the following day.”
But Charles was quick to put to bed any suggestion of civil war in the camp.
The family and the training staff were very, very tight. So this fall out stuff, it’s all ludicrous. It’s a vicious lie.
Don Charles
He said: “There’s a few individuals, for whatever reason, they went around spreading bad, vicious rumours that there’s been a fall out.
“No, there has not been any fall out. I hate to disappoint them. We’re very, together [as a] team.
“The family and the training staff were very, very tight. So this fall out stuff, it’s all ludicrous. It’s a vicious lie.”
Charles confirmed he WILL be in the corner for Dubois – so long as he can fight off his illness.
He said: “I’m a godfearing man. I will always say if God gives us help then 100 per cent I will be in his corner, that’s the plan.”
In Charles absence, assistant trainer and padman Kieran Farrell has been leading the charge while receiving instructions on the phone.
Charles revealed: “We have a routine, every set-up has a routine.
“We have a fight week routine. Basically, my team members they all know what we do.
“And I’m on the phone first thing in the morning and they know what to do with the fighter.
“The fighter knows what to do so collectively, they’re able to do it.”

Netflix reveal first look at Squid Game series two as terrifying show returns after three years off air
NETFLIX has revealed a terrifying new trailer for the upcoming second series of Squid Game after it first premiered three years ago.
Since its release, Netflix viewers have been left wanting more and they’re finally going to get it as Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) re-enters the game.
Netflix has revealed the terrifying trailer for Squid Game 2[/caption] The second series picks up three years later with Gi-hun on a mission to destroy the game[/caption] The new series will see new and familiar faces return to the game[/caption]Mirroring real life, the second series of Squid Game takes place three years after the first. It follows Gi-Hun as he “remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport.”
But his mission stalls as he realises the only way he can end Squid Game for good is by re-entering it.
The new trailer teases this as viewers initially see Gi-hun free before a masked figure shows up.
Gi-hun tries to resist, pointing a gun at the mysterious agent, but moments later the trailer cuts to him back in the game with the show’s eerie music playing over.
Lee Jung-jae returns as Seong Gi-hun, Player 456. He is joined by Lee Byung-hun as Front Man, the Squid Game’s overseer, Wi Ha-Joon as Hwang Jun-ho and Gong Yoo as the salesman and Squid Game recruiter.
Premiering on Netflix on December 26, Squid Game 2 will continue on from the events of series one.
After winning the games, Gi-hun chose not to return to his family but to try to end the game once and for all.
Meanwhile, the fate of Jun-ho still hangs in the balance after he was shot by Front Man, who turned out to be his brother.
Once back in the game, Gi-hun will meet a new group of competitors played by Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won and Won Ji-an.
The highly anticipated series captivated fans across the globe and became the site’s biggest ever show in an unexpected move of success.
“It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” showrunner Hwang Dong-hyuk teased in a letter to the program’s fans.
The Korean drama was watched by 111 million users in its first 28 days, knocking Bridgerton (82 million) off the top spot.
The creator promises to bring the same level of thrilling drama to Squid Game 2, despite previously confirming that Gi-Hun would be a very different character in the second series.
Speaking about this change in an interview with Radio Times, Lee admitted: “I think the script for season 2 is even more interesting than season 1, and there is going to be a new set of characters as well.

Legendary 80s band announce their first new album in 16 years by putting up poster in local pub
A LEGENDARY 80s rock band have announced their first album in 16 years – with a poster in their local pub.
Fans were stunned to spot the low-key announcement placed in a frame outside The Railway Inn in Crawley, West Sussex.
The venue was where The Cure played their first gig in 1978, before the group went on to sell more than 30 million records.
And – 16 years after their 13th album 4:13 Dream – The Cure are back with Songs of a Lost Word.
The posted simply revealed the EPs name and release date, which is November 1.
Crawley is where the band was formed more than three decades ago.
Founding members Robert Smith, Michael Dempsey and Lol Tolhurst met at Notre Dame middle school in the West Sussex town.
Michael left the band in 1979 and Lol followed a year later.
The group is currently made up of Robert, Simon Gallup, Roger O’Donnell, Perry Bamonte, Jason Cooper and Reeves Gabrels.
Robert addressed the line-up changes during a TV interview in 2002.
He said: “In my own mind there have been five bands called The Cure that I’m in… The Cure has been an unusual band.
We will never shake the goth tag – I still have to field questions about being the godfather of goth.
“We cover a breadth of material but we’re pigeonholed despite that. I can live with it because I know that anyone who’s into the band knows there’s slightly more to it than doom and gloom.”
The Cure are known for hits including Lovesong and Lullaby.
