Three cheap and fun ways to celebrate Batman day for the whole family

TOMORROW is Batman Day – when fans around the world will celebrate the caped crusader.

This year also marks 85 years since the superhero was created, and there are activities to pay homage, including special screenings of Batman films in cinemas.

But you don’t need to splash out to get involved.

Here are free or affordable Batman activities . . .

MEET A HERO: There will be Batman character visits at selected The Entertainer stores every Saturday until October 19.

Follow @entertainer_toys on Instagram for information.

There is also a costume character visit in Hamleys in the Westfield complex at White City, West London this Sunday.

For older fans, Batman Unmasked: The Exhibition is on now at Covent Garden, central London featuring a collection of props and costumes.

General tickets are £24.50 but if you are a group of ten or more you will pay £19.60 each.

FACE PAINTING:  If you are in London this Sunday, there will be Batman face-painting at Hamleys’ Regent Street store.

Otherwise, get a Halloween face-painting kit for £1 at Poundland, and create your own Batman design.

There are lots of free tutorials on YouTube that you can then follow to create picture-perfect face art on your child’s face.

MAKE A MASK: If you have spare black paper, card or even scrap material you can use it to create Batman masks for little ones.

Put the paper against your child’s face and make marks so you know how wide to make the mask — plus markers at the top of the cheekbones and forehead.

Draw the shape of the mask before cutting.

You just need two little pointy ears either side at the top and two almond shapes for the eyes, the bottom curves over the cheeks and nose.

Make small holes either side of the mask before threading round string, ribbon or elastic to fit your child’s head.

Legendary department chain announces exact date it will close doors to ‘huge’ branch forever

A LEGENDARY department chain has revealed the exact date it will close its doors on a “huge” branch for good.

House of Fraser is pulling down the shutters on another shop after closing various sites over the past few months.

Next has been strongly tipped to replace House of Fraser’s unit in the shopping centre[/caption]

The popular clothing retailer recently confirmed it would be shutting its Bluewater branch after 25 years of service.

The department store is operated out of large unit which occupies two floors in the shopping centre.

House of Fraser confirmed that they will be offering shoppers a 20 per cent discount to empty the store, which is set to shut on November 27.

Despite the major loss, another large clothing chain is set to replace the retailer at Bluewater, according to Kent Online.

Next is strongly tipped to take over the unit once House of Fraser closes their store for good.

The popular clothing chain recently announced that it has raised its annual profit outlook for the second time in less than two months.

The Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce warned that the departure of House of Fraser could negatively impact other traders who benefit from the foot traffic generated by such a large store.

Chief Executive Tudor Price said: “Customers may stop returning once they realise the anchor store is no longer there.”

Shoppers are gutted after learning of the popular branch’s pending closure.

Hundreds have taken to Facebook to vent their frustrations.

“No!! No more clothes and bags” cried one user.

Another commented: “I feel sorry for the staff.”

While a third said: “End of an era.”

However, several customers were happy that House of Fraser would no longer have a unit in the shopping centre.

A former employer wrote: “Good worked there for years horrible place.”

And this user added: “No one goes shopping anymore, it’s all online, knock it down and build some very much needed social housing.”

It comes after a major high street games retailer with 240 branches is gearing up to close one of its sites.

And with the cost of living crisis wreaking havoc on Britain’s purses, many of us are shopping exclusively in the sale section.

Watch moment Champions League star pulls off DOUBLE nutmeg before pulling off ‘Thierry Henry pass’ to set up epic goal

VICTOR BONIFACE turned on the style during Bayer Leverkusen’s crushing win over Feyenoord.

The Nigerian star pulled off an outrageous double nutmeg and no-look pass in the build-up to Leverkusen‘s second goal.

The Nigerian then showed off a stunning no-look pass to set up the German’s second goal[/caption]

Boniface stunned fans by executing a playground move made famous by French legend Thierry Henry.

The 23-year-old received the ball to feet 30 yards from the Feyenoord goal with Leverkusen already leading 1-0.

He trapped the pass with his instep before nutmegging both defenders who tried to prevent the break.

Boniface shaped to shoot with his right foot, but instead passed the ball out to the wing with his left in a short, sharp motion.

A signature trick of Henry’s, the audacious move was perfectly executed perfectly by the Nigerian striker.

Jeremie Frimpong received the pass from Boniface before slinging an inch-perfect cross to the far post.

Alejandro Grimaldo was on hand to smash home to complete a stunning goal from the German champions.

One fan gasped on X: “If he did that in training, people would be going mad!”

Another said: “Victor Boniface has just executed the Thierry Henry fake-shot pass to perfection. Outrageous.”

While a third added with a stunned emoji: “Stop it Boniface!!!! The Thierry Henry pass!!”

And a fourth simply gawped: “Boniface can ball.”

Xabi Alonso‘s Leverkusen were in stunning form as they toyed with Feyenoord at De Kuip.

They led 4-0 at half time, with Florian Wirtz bagging a brace and Feyenoord stopper Timon Wellenreuther putting through his own goal.

The Dutch side tightened up in the second period, with Leverkusen happy to see out the game.

New Champions League format

Each club will play eight matches in the opening phase – against seeded opposition, in a system designed to ensure that teams play opponents of similar difficulty.

The top eight teams in the “final” table will automatically go through to the last 16, where they will be joined by the eight play-off winners of ties between the sides placed ninth to 24th in the table.

Despite there being just eight matches in the opening phase, European matches will be spread over 10 midweek slots.

The new Champions League format also sees the implication of two additional qualifying spots.

They will be awarded to the nations that are top of the “country coefficient” chart each season.

Leverkusen will now head back to Germany to play AC Milan in Gameweek 2.

Feyenoord travel next to Spain to take on Girona, the La Liga surprise package playing in their first-ever Champions League campaign.

Sisters put nude pics of dad’s mistress on escort website to ‘humiliate her’ for cheating on their mum… but it backfired

TWO sisters hatched a “revenge” plot to post naked pictures of their father’s mistress online to “humiliate” her.

Geoff Brown, 61, had an affair with the woman – who was also married – a decade ago, sowing the seeds for his daughters’ revenge plot many years later.

Geoff Brown, 61, had an affair with the woman – who was also married – a decade ago

Sisters Eleanor, 24, and Sophie Brown planned to humiliate the other woman, colluding to post private, intimate pictures of her on an escort website.

They originally planned to post the naked photos on Gumtree and advertise sexual services for £5, but instead went with the escort site, adding the phone number of the woman’s husband.

This meant he would receive a number of calls from men who were looking at the escorting site.

Eleanor, of Morley, West Yorkshire, admitted disclosing private photographs without consent during a trial at Leeds Crown Court, and now faces an “almost inevitable” prison sentence, MailOnline reports.

Her sister Sophie was banned from policing for life in April after she resigned over the part she played in the scheme.

The affair was revealed in 2015 after Geoff’s wife Sarah, 57, found intimate pictures and videos that the other woman had shared with her husband during the affair.

Geoff and Sarah are still together.

Between August and September 2022, Eleanor posted “derogatory comments” about the other woman on her husband’s business website.

She also sent him the intimate pictures of his wife over WhatsApp and uploaded them to an escort website.

Prosecutors called the move a “calculated effort to cause distress in an act of revenge”.

The woman told the court she had felt a “sickening feeling of just complete panic” after discovering sexual pictures of her were shared on the internet.

Brown initially denied two counts of sharing private sexual photographs without consent, but admitted it shortly before she was set to give evidence in her own defence.

Judge Alexander Menary adjourned the case ahead of sentencing next month, saying that it was “almost inevitable” she would be jailed.

Her sister Sophie was found guilty of gross misconduct, quitting her job as a patrol officer at West Yorkshire Police.

In April, a disciplinary hearing found she would have been given the sack had she not resigned.

The hearing was told Sophie encouraged her sister to post the intimate images in an “act of revenge”.

Messages exchanged between the sisters revealed how they first planned to post the naked photos on Gumtree and advertise sexual services for £5.

But they then discussed using an escorting website, adding the woman’s husband’s phone number on the profile.

While Eleanor carried out many of the actions, they were “initiated and encouraged” by Sophie, the panel was told.

Sophie Brown resigned from West Yorkshire Police after the allegations came to light, but the panel ruled she would have been dismissed if she was still serving.

Emmerdale’s Will Taylor comes face to face with Kim Tate’s kidnapper in horrifying twist

EMMERDALE’S Will Taylor has finally come face to face with wife Kim Tate’s kidnapper in a horrifying twist.

The lorry driver – who is played by actor Dean Andrews in the ITV soap – has been terrified by a mystery blackmailer for weeks.

Kim Tate was revealed to be behind it all

And this week he was left horrified when wife Kim was seemingly kidnapped.

Desperate to find her, Will was forced to raise £50,000 ransom by leveraging his interest in the haulage firm with Caleb Miligan.

With the money in hand, Will was lured into the woods where he found a mannequin dressed in Kim’s clothes and clues that suggested she had been buried alive.

He was horrified to be led on a chase to a freshly dug grave and the sounds of Kim shouting for help from within a deeply-buried coffin.

But when he dug down to find the coffin and free Kim, the shocking truth was revealed.

As Will pulled out a recorder playing Kim’s pleas for help, he was hit over the head with a shovel by the person responsible – Kim herself.

“Will, it’s a little too late to play dumb,” she said.

“You see I was intrigued to see how far you’d go to save yourself once you knew someone else knew your secret.”

Revealing she knew everything – and was taking her revenge, she added: “All this was me, I’m your evil blackmailer.”

Kim demanded Will come clean and as he wittered on about everything he’d done, Kim could barely feign interest in his pity party.

“Well time’s marching on,” she said picking up the bag with the cash in it. “Must get back to the warmth.”

“Where does this leave us?” Will said desperately trying to convince Kim they still had a future.

She replied: “It’s so cute you think there’s an us. Thanks for the money and your phone.”

And then she walked away tossing the radio at his head as she went.

The REAL Kim Tate is back and not a minute too soon

The Sun’s Soaps Editor Carl Greenwood on why Kim Tate’s triumphant return to evil is just what the soap needs…

AFTER years of softening her, Emmerdale bosses have finally let Kim Tate return to being the icon we all know she is.

The woman who watched merrily as her first husband died in front of, only stopping to check her lippy while checking for his breath, would never have let Will Taylor’s deception go on for this long.

And she certainly wouldn’t have fallen for Caleb Miligan’s various schemes.

She’s now made it clear that she’s done with Will – and hopefully she follows that up with something terrifying to get rid of him properly.

But with Caleb mounting another secret scheme against her, the return of the real Kim Tate is very much welcome.

She’ll be able to go toe to toe with him without having to pretend she cares for Will, or have his dreadful daughter Dawn and her brood pulling on her heart strings.

Soapland’s greatest superbitch is back – and she’s taking no prisoners.

Joey and Jessy announced their split this week[/caption]

But not letting it get her down, Jessy, 25, looked sensational as she dazzled in a gold gown on the carpet.

Jessy showed off her stunning long blonde locks as she let her hair fall behind her back.

She opted for a very glam makeup look and showed off her impressive physique in the cut out sparkly number.

Jessy partnered the floor length gown with some see-through heels and glanced over her shoulder as she was photographer at the A-list event, which was also attended by Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johannson.

Jessy and Joey saw sparks fly in the ITV2 matchmaking series and, despite missing out on the final, stuck it out through summer amid split rumours.

Yesterday, Jessy managed to muster a smile as she headed to a Manchester salon to start her fresh life chapter with a new look.

She pulled on a powder blue hoodie and black leggings, finishing off her look with white socks and Adidas trainers.

Her blonde locks were styled in immaculate waves down past her chest after she spent six hours in the salon.

Jessy entered Love Island‘s summer series as a bombshell and stole Joey away from his former girlfriend Grace Jackson.

After The Sun exclusively reported news of their break-up, we told how Joey admitted he hopes the pair can stay pals.

The reality TV legend told us: “Unfortunately, we have decided to call an end to the relationship but I hope we can continue to be friends.

“I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future.”

And Jessy added: “I appreciate the Love Island experience I had with Joey, we tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all of the exciting opportunities ahead.”
