‘Apple Crisp’ is the new ‘Pumpkin Spice’ – here’s how to get the autumn look at home
FOR years ‘Pumpkin Spice’ has been the top autumn trend – from the spiced lattes to mouthwatering candles, it’s long been the favourite seasonal flavour.
But that’s all about to change with a new mouthwatering scent ready to take the spotlight.
‘Apple Crisp’ is set to take over ‘Pumpkin Spice’[/caption] And it’s influencing everything from fashion to home decor[/caption] And now experts have revealed how you can add its warmth, comfort and earthy tones to your home[/caption]It’s all about ‘Apple Crisp’ this autumn – and it’s influencing everything from fashion to home decor.
From the warm colour palette to the comforting scent, Apple Crisp is coming to life this season.
While Pumpkin Spice is a rich spicy blend of ginger, orange, cardamom and pumpkin, Apple Crisp is sweeter and fruitier with muskier tones and smells like apples, cinnamon and vanilla.
Luckily, one expert is on hand to share their top tips on how to bring its cosy vibe into our homes to give it some autumn charm.
Cassandra Leisz, Creative Director of innovative interiors brand Ruggable, said it’s all about warmth, comfort and earthy tones.
To bring that into your home Cassandra says: “To capture the essence of freshly baked apple crisps, focus on warm, inviting colors such as red, yellow, orange and deep brown.
“You can do this by introducing plush, textured throws and cushions to add both visual and physical comfort to your living space.
“Perfect for cosy autumn days that can be changed seasonally.
“In larger rooms with big floor space, adding a patterned rug in rich reds, browns or creams.
“It is a great way to transform the space with rustic charm and autumnal palettes.”
Tie in the theme with a warm glow
Another way to do it is by adding warm lighting to your house.
She says: “Warm lighting is essential for an autumnal glow.
“You can achieve this by adding a few candles to your table display to create a rustic, warm ambience.
“For maximum effect, opt for scented taper or tea candles in a cider or mulled scent.
“Or, for longer lasting ambience, drape warm, soft white fairy lights around your living room, dining area or along the mantle for subtle lighting.”
Adding the scent to your home is an easy way to complete the atmosphere in your home[/caption]Create the mouth-watering scent
Nothing evokes the feeling of apple crisp like the warm scent of apples, cinnamon and vanilla.
Cassandra suggests: “To complete the atmosphere in your home, you’ll want to create the scent of apple crisp.
“Look for scented candles, room sprays, diffusers, or potpourri with scents such as ‘apple pie,’ ‘mulled wine’ and ‘cinnamon spice’ to create a deliciously fragrant atmosphere.
“Place them throughout your home, especially in the living room and kitchen where traffic is high.
“If you prefer to use a diffuser, mix apple, cinnamon and clove essential oils for a similar effect.”
Adding an autumn wreath to your front door gives a lovely autumn welcome[/caption]Create a cosy first impression with an autumn welcome at your front door
The strand is all about apples, so why not hang a gorgeous apple wreath? Or, even better, have a go at making one yourself?
This can help make a cosy first impression, Cassandra explains.
She adds: “Welcome guests to your front door with a wreath of fake apples, cinnamon sticks and dried leaves.
“You can even get the family involved in making it. This immediately sets a cosy tone at the entrance to your home.
“Make sure you swap your summer doormat for one with an autumnal design of apples, leaves or a welcoming autumn message.
“For an added touch, place some apples and pumpkins on the door display, this follows the trend and adds a natural element to your display.”
Budget-friendly tips to create the 'Apple Crisp' look
CASSANDRA also shared some budget-friendly tips to add touches of the 'Apple Crisp' look into your home decor.
She says: “For a budget-friendly, natural touch, gather dried twigs, red and orange leaves, pine cones, and acorns from outdoors.
“Scatter them on your mantelpiece, coffee table, or dining table to enhance the autumnal feel.
“This is an easy way to embrace the changing season and give your home an autumnal makeover on a budget.
“If you already have apples in your fruit bowl, to capture the trend, add these apples to your table decor on plates, garnished with cinnamon sticks.
“This is a fun way to set the table and a perfect healthy snack!”

Man Utd seal two more transfers of wonderkids after FA sign off on deals… with former Arsenal star still to come
MANCHESTER UNITED have completed transfers for two new stars despite the transfer window being closed, reports suggest.
The Red Devils have placed great emphasis on recruiting the best talent for their youth teams in recent seasons.
Man Utd have signed James Overy following FA approval[/caption] Slovakia youth international Samuel Lusale has also joined the club after turning 17[/caption] Ex-Arsenal wonderkid Chido Obi-Martin is still waiting on FA confirmation before a deal is completed[/caption]This has led to a steady stream of stars who have come through the academy to star in the first team, including the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Toby Collyer in recent seasons.
But United have now completed deals for teenager starlets James Overy and Samuel Lusale, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Deals for the pair were delayed as they waited for FA approval, and they will now link up with the Man Utd Under-18s this season.
Meanwhile, a deal for ex-Arsenal wonderkid Chido Obi-Martin is also in the works.
Overy, born in 2007, is an attacking right-back who began his career with A-League side Perth Glory.
He started attracting interest from the likes of West Ham aged just 15 before departing and relocating to the south of England last year.
Described as a “wonderfully polite and humble young man” by former coach Marc Revell in the Mid Devon Advertiser, Overy continued to impress with Newton Abbot Spurs before United came calling.
He is eligible to play for both England and Australia at international level.

SunSport revealed in July how the Premier League and Fifa were both looking at his transfer.
In the case of Lusale, he is a winger or attacking midfielder who has already represented Slovakia at Under-17 and Under-18 international level.
He was born in Guildford in 2007, and has finally been ratified to join United after turning 17 earlier this month.
Once the FA sign off on 16-year-old Obi-Martin joining the Red Devils, it will complete a hat-trick of highly-rated signings for the club’s youth team.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the signing of Obi-Martin, with training videos showing his remarkable finishing skills and teasing a bright career ahead.
He also scored 10 goals in a single match for the Gunners against Liverpool Under-16s last season.
United’s Under-18 side won an impressive treble last season, having lost just twice in the northern U18 division, before beating southern victors Chelsea to be crowned English champions.
Another teen acquisition this summer, Sekou Kone, has been included in Man Utd’s Premier League squad list for the upcoming season following the end of the transfer window.
Under-21 goalkeeper Dermot Mee was also registered as a fourth-choice goalkeeper as one of the 22 stars registered in the over 21 bracket of the squad registration.
The quality from the academy has been laid bare this week after Mainoo and Garnacho were nominated for the Kopa Trophy and ex-United star Angel Gomes made his England debut.
Erik ten Hag‘s senior team take on Southampton at St Marys in today’s early kick-off.
They have a desperate need to win and get the season back on the track following back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Liverpool before the international break.
