The forward moved the ball to his right foot before bending a shot into the far corner beyond the outstretched arms of Saints goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

It was his first league goal since March 9 against Everton, 189 days ago, and his first in all competitions since March 17 against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

SunSport exclusively revealed how Rashford was taking extra training sessions with Van Nistelrooy in a bid to end his goal drought.

And after scoring against Southampton, Van Nistelrooy was seen holding his arms in the air to celebrate the goal.

Fans were loving the scenes from St Mary’s stadium and rushed to social media to share their thoughts.

One fan said: “Van Nistelrooy, a United legend himself, clearly sees a kindred spirit in Rashford. His reaction speaks volumes about the talent and potential he sees in the young Englishman.”

A second said: “Genuinely happy for Rashford, RVN having an impact.”

Another said: “He looked so proud of him.”

Barcelona turn down world-record bid from Arsenal to sign England star Keira Walsh before summer transfer deadline

BARCELONA rejected a world-record bid from Arsenal to sign Keira Walsh a day before the WSL summer transfer deadline on Friday.

Reports claim the Gunners tabled a megabucks offer for the England star on September 12 – believed to be around £930,000 according to BBC Sport.

Arsenal’s reported bid for Walsh follows the Gunners signing ex-Barcelona forward Mariona Caldentey in July[/caption]

However Spanish paper Sport claims the Catalan giants rebuffed the bid from the North London side, with Chelsea also rumoured to be keen on the player.

This is despite Walsh, 27, who has helped her team win seven trophies including two Champions League titles, entering the final year of her current contract.

Earlier this summer it was reported the Lioness, who sealed a world record-breaking £400,000 Barcelona transfer two years ago, was attracting interest from Arsenal.

The midfielder, who joined the team from Manchester City after helping England win the Women’s Euros, has emerged as an influential figure in the Catalan outfit.

She has shone in midfield alongside Spain stars Patri Guijarro and Aitana Bonmati with the trio helping their side win four major trophies last term.

The club see the Rochdale-born midfielder, who started in Barcelona’s first two league matches this season, as a key player within their squad

Yesterday boss Pere Romeu confirmed the club had no intention of parting ways with the player who helped her side win a ninth top-flight title last season

He told reporters: “There’s no case for Keira leaving.

“She’s been with us throughout pre-season and is a key player for us.

“She totally gets our style of play, is super professional, and has shown an amazing attitude and commitment from day one.

“We’re definitely counting on her this season,”

It is claimed Walsh does not intend to renew her contract which is set to expire in June next year.

Since her move to Barcelona, who this April signed a two-year partnership with Spanish airline Vueling, the England midfielder has played in 49 games in Spain’s top-flight.

On the domestic front Walsh has lifted two Liga F trophies, two Spanish Women’s Super Cups, and a Copa de la Reina.

And she appeared in their five pre-season matches including their 2-0 Joan Gamper Trophy win against AC Milan.

Had Arsenal succeeded in their efforts to sign Walsh, the move would have made her the second player to join the club from Barcelona this summer.

In July signed World Cup-winning Spain forward Mariona Caldentey who joined the Gunners following a 10-year spell with the Catalan side.

This summer has also seen the club bid farewell to Spain international María Pérez.

Earlier today the defensive midfielder, 22, was announced as the newest signing of London City Lionesses whose squad includes Sweden stars Kosovare Asllani and Sofia Jakobsson.

The Women’s Championship side, owned by American businesswoman Michelle Kang, are chasing WSL promotion this term.

And Strictly will once again be broadcast from its glitzy studio based in Elstree, Borehamwood – which has long be rumoured to be haunted.

Last year The Sun revealed how the judges and pro dancers were left terrified on set over unexplained bumps, noises and incidents.

And now leading ghost hunter Yvette Fielding has revealed Strictly is “riddled” with spirits lurking around the ballroom floor.

Speaking to The Sun, the 55-year-old explained: “That place is absolutely riddled.

“And then of course, as you know, we all know about the curse of Strictly and everything going wrong. And the affairs and all the rest of it.”

Yvette continued: “Apparently in the dressing rooms, wardrobe, things have gone missing, stuff’s been thrown on the floor.

“I can’t remember off the top of my head, but there’s a lot, there’s loads of paranormal activity in that place.

“We did a live from there and we got some amazing stuff. It was great.”

In 2005, Most Haunted held a special show at Elstree Studios, inside the sound stage that hosts the BBC juggernaut.

Yvette also said she’ll never put on her dancing shoes, admitting she loves her ghost-busting husband Carl Beattie too much.

She said: “I think I’m so in love with my husband that I couldn’t bear to be away from him.

“I would do it if my husband was in it, but I couldn’t do it without him. We’re just attached to the hip, me and Carl.”

Yvette was speaking as her new book Most Haunted Castles hits shelves, while she takes the hit TV show on a countrywide tour.
