Royal Family wish Prince Harry a ‘very happy’ 40th birthday after ignoring him last year amid Spare feud

THE Royal Family has wished Prince Harry a ‘very happy” 40th birthday after ignoring him last year amid their Spare feud.

Posting on Instagram, the Royal Family said: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!”

The official account shared a snap of California-based Harry smiling along with an emoji of a birthday cake.

Last year the royals declined to publicly celebrate Harry’s 39th birthday.

The duke was heard admitting he hadn’t heard from his family when asked by a well-wisher at the 2023 Invictus Games.

The prince is marking his 40th birthday today with family and friends at his £11million mansion in California.

He will then jet off for a “weekend getaway” with a few close friends, The Sun revealed this week.

It is not yet known where Harry will go or who will join him on the trip.

But the group is unlikely to include his brother William – as he and Harry have not spoken for more than two years.

And Harry’s wife Meghan and children Archie and Lilibet will stay at home while he heads off with his mates.

The band of brothers could include Harry’s polo BFF, his “second dad” and a “party animal” pal.

Harry is reportedly asking former aides to help him plan a comeback from his US exile and spend more time in Britain.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, is said to be consulting people “from his old life” after growing frustrated with American PR experts.

Harry reportedly plans to spend more time in the UK in a bid to repair his relationship with King Charles.

The strategy could see a “rehabilitated” Harry stage a partial return to royal life.

But insiders said Harry and Meghan are not seeking a permanent return from California.

A source told the Mail: “Harry is turning away from all sorts of Hollywood publicists and is seeking counsel from his old friends and associates.

“He is clearly reaching out thinking, ‘I need to do something different because what I’m doing is clearly not working’.”

The source added: “In short, Prince Harry is rethinking the way he operates.”

Harry has reportedly sent WhatsApp messages to a number of old friends in the UK.

The prince’s former private secretary Edward Lane Fox has reportedly been tipped to plot a comeback.

But Lane Fox said: “It’s not something I’ve got a view on I’m afraid.”

Harry has reportedly decided not to update his memoir Spare for its paperback edition, which is due to come out on October 24.

He will not be doing any interviews to promote the paperback, it is understood.

Friends are said to believe Harry’s comeback could succeed if it staged with zero publicity or “fuss”.

It is feared that Harry’s relationship with his brother William is beyond repair.

But King Charles is reportedly open to spending more time with his son.

It comes after The Sun revealed William and Harry stood “virtually back to back” at their uncle’s memorial service.

Harry secretly dashed from his US home to the service for Lord Robert Fellowes, who was married to Princess Diana’s sister Jane.

But the Duke of Sussex and his brother did not exchange a word at Thursday’s memorial in the Norfolk village of Snettisham.

One mourner told The Sun: “They were only five yards from each other.”

William and Harry chatted to mourners as they mingled at their uncle’s memorial service.

At one point the princes were standing “virtually back to back” at the wake.

But both left separately without seemingly exchanging a word, onlookers said.

The Sun revealed Harry jetted in secret from the US after previously saying he could not attend due to security fears.

Shopping around for the best deal is always the best option, if you can spare the time.

The Sainsbury’s offer will certainly seem tempting to chocolate lovers looking to stock up on treats for Christmas ahead of the busy shopping period.

Research by comparison site MoneySuperMarket found that the average cost of Christmas rose to £1,811.70 per household last year.

But there are ways you can save throughout the year to cut the cost of the holiday, from savings challenges to buying items at a discount.

How to bag a bargain

SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…

Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.

Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.

Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.

Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.

Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.

When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.

Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.

And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.

The Sun’s money team earlier this week shared all the ways they’re cutting costs this Christmas and their top money saving tips.

Lana Clements, Sun Savers editor, said being super organised with Christmas and having an idea of expenses helps spread the cost and takes some of the pressure off the big day.

She will be doing stockings for her two children as usual, and has already started collecting things that can be used as fillers.

She is also looking at buying a toy advent calendar and taking out the gifts to use as fillers, which is a great way to make some savings.

Consumer editor Lynsey Barber has made hundreds of pounds extra with very little effort.

Lynsey wrote that banks give away free cash for moving your current account.

Doing this five times over the last 10 months has led to £875 stashed away in the festive fund.

How to save more money on supermarket shops

THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.

You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.

If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.

Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.

This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.

Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.

Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.

Inside Jadon Sancho’s incredible Chelsea debut as ex-Man Utd star named Man of the Match after laying on assist for goal

JADON SANCHO marked his Chelsea debut with an impressive Man of the Match display against Bournemouth.

Chelsea had been unable to conjure up a goal in the first half of their clash at the Vitality Stadium, with Robert Sanchez denying the hosts from the penalty spot.

Having been left unhappy by what he had just seen Enzo Maresca rolled the dice by bringing on Sancho for Pedro Neto at half-time.

And it proved to be an inspired move, as the on-loan Manchester United winger provided the match-winning assist for Christopher Nkunku‘s decisive goal after 86 minutes.

Sancho was one of the liveliest players on the pitch as he put in a stunning display from left midfield.

Indeed, for Nkunku’s goal, Sancho beat his marker by cutting back on to his right foot before threading a pass into his team-mate’s path before he slotted home a shot.

Sancho attempted two dribbles and completed 24 of his 26 passes.

He also showed his defensive nous by registering four ball recoveries.

Before the game, Maresca had said he did not consider the Sancho transfer a risk.

And afterwards, he had a glowing review for the 24-year-old.

He said: “I think we start second half much better and Jadon helped us a lot but what he did tonight is exactly what we expected from him.

“As I said, I know Jadon very good because I watched him many, many times in the past and I know what he can give us.

“Then also Christoph [Nkunku] was very good and not just because he scored but because he fought without the ball and Jadon was exactly the same. Tosin [Adarabioyo] was very good.”

He added: “Very happy, very happy for him.

“He was very good, I think Joao [Felix] was very good and Christoph scored but was also very good.”

Sancho has often looked a shadow of himself since his return to England from Borussia Dortmund.

The former Manchester City had a high-profile fallout with Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag last season that saw him banished from first-team training.

He returned to Germany with Dortmund on loan in January and had a mixed spell as he helped them reach the Champions League final.

However, Maresca said he believes he knows how to get the best out of him.

Maresca said: “It’s very important. I have a feeling that Jadon is a guy that needs love.

Chelsea ratings vs Bournemouth as Sanchez and Sancho are heroes... and Palmer struggles

CHELSEA needed a late moment of magic from Christopher Nkunku to snatch all three points from Bournemouth.

Marcus Tavernier crashed a super strike against the crossbar early on and Robert Sanchez saved an Evanilson penalty before the break.

Jadon Sancho came on for his debut at half-time and made the difference for the Blues as he set up Nkunku’s winner.

Here’s how SunSport’s Graham Nickless rated Maresca’s men…

Robert Sanchez – 8

Man-of-the-match show with first-half penalty save from Evanilson and a handful of excellent saves.

But rather fortunate to stay on the pitch after denying Evanilson a clear goalscoring opportunity with a deliberate foul that led to the spot-kick.

Axel Disasi – 5

The right-back was given an uncomfortable night down the right side.

Given the runaround by Cherries dangerman Antoine Semenyo and was replaced just after the hour.

Wesley Fofana – 6

Did his best to keep a clean sheet when run ragged by the home strikers.

Luckily for the centre-back, he could rely on Sanchez to keep them out.

Levi Colwill – 6

Did his best to calm the storm that came the Blues’ way for most of the match.

Made sure he kept record-signing Evanilson away from notching his first Premier League goal.

Marc Cucurella – 7

Always busy and making a nuisance of himself when he wasn’t being buffeted by Semenyo’s marking.

But overdid it with one stupid, deliberate shoulder barge on the Bournemouth winger.

Renato Veiga – 5

Suffered like most of his team-mates to open up the home side’s defence.

The Portuguese midfielder didn’t see enough of the ball to make an impact.

Moises Caicedo – 7

The captain was always looking for that defence-splitting pass when he wasn’t on defensive duty.

Gave an example to others around him who weren’t putting in a decent shift.

Noni Madueke – 5

Was quite mad attempting an early shot at the home goal that ended up as a throw-in.

And it didn’t get much better than that for the winger who was hauled off just after the hour.

Cole Palmer – 5

Rested by England for tired muscles and there wasn’t much energy in this performance.

But the Cherries, worried by his reputation, did target him in the first half.

Pedro Neto – 5

Failed to make any impact on the wing but could claim he had little or no service.

Boss Maresca had seen enough and brought on Sancho to replace him at half-time.

Nicolas Jackson – 5

Chelsea fans won’t want to suffer another nine years of this from the big striker.

Had one shot comfortably saved and another blocked but will need to show more upfront for his ludicrous long contract.

SUBS

Jadon Sancho (for Neto) – 8

Was booked 11 minutes after coming on then, looked likely throughout second half and set up Nkunku’s equaliser on super debut.

Tosin Adarabioyo (for Disasi) – 6

Was seldom troubled.

Joao Felix (for Madueke) – 5

Tidied up in midfield.

Christopher Nkunku (for Jackson) – 8

Burst through three players to score and snatch the winner.

“This is what I think when I spoke with him before he join us.

“Also I know he has the desire to show the player he is, but for me, it is just to enjoy football.

“This is the reason why they play.

“They are happy and want to play football, they want to enjoy football and then because they are good, they are going to do good things.”

If his first 45 minutes are anything to go by, Sancho looks set to get his career back on track.

The win puts Chelsea seventh in the Premier League table before Sunday’s fixtures, with two wins, one draw and one defeat.
