I live for free on a ‘heavenly’ paradise island – I only work 24hrs a week and spend the rest of my time in a hammock

A WOMAN who lived on a “heavenly” island off the coast of Australia for free only worked 24 hours a week and spent her time off in a hammock.

Sirirat Nensewicz, 27, from Germany, lived on the 18-acre Pumpkin Island in the Great Barrier Reef, spending just £200 a month.

The content creator worked just 24 hours a week across five days – cleaning, gardening and bartending at a local resort in return for free housing after finding it on Google Maps.

Sirirat said she enjoyed her time off “laying in a hammock and swimming” on the island which boasts pristine beaches and exotic marine wildlife.

Her monthly expenses came to just £200 (AUD $400) and the resort paid her around £800 (AUD $1,600) on top of this.

She said: “We would get up around 8am, check the common areas and clean the bathrooms, do some gardening and then the ‘sunset happy hours’ – two hours of bar work in the evening.

“Some days we would work 10 hour shifts, some would only be four.”

She added: “Most of my time on the island, I would just relax, lay in the hammock, swim and kayak.

“For the first week, I went snorkelling every day after work in the Southern Great Barrier Reef and managed to watch a lot of Netflix.”

Sirirat’s accommodation was “a small room with a double bed and bathroom, located next to a shed”, all free of charge.

She described how her “room would face the sea” and that she “often woke up to gorgeous sunrises”.

“I only spent £40 (AUD $75-80) a week on groceries and £10 (AUD $20) a month on phone data as the island had no WiFi.

“My groceries would come by boat once a week – and would be the same boat that would drop off the guests to the island.

“The rest of my money was saved or put towards things I wanted. I could eat more healthily and invest more in my travel.

“If anyone has the chance to work here, do it. You can see and experience things you never thought you could.

“It made me appreciate life and the little things a lot more as the island gave me space to think.”

After two months on Pumpkin Island, she left for “some much-needed time in Bali to reunite and travel with friends from home”.

“And I managed to live on a beautiful island, working only 24 hours a week for accommodation and additional pay of over $800 (£400) fortnightly.”

Sirirat landed the resort job after facing multiple rejections on a gruelling job hunt where she walked into over 100 places” with her CV.

Watch Andy Murray heir Jack Draper lose his cool and completely obliterate his racquet in Davis Cup meltdown

JACK DRAPER obliterated his racquet as Great Britain’s Davis Cup dreams went up in smithereens.

The British No1 knew his country’s hopes of qualifying for November’s Malaga finals were already over when he stepped out to face Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Dan Evans’ 6-0 7-5 defeat to Denis Shapovalov in the opening rubber at the AO Arena condemned GB to third in Group D behind Canada and Argentina because Leon Smith’s side needed a 3-0 clean sweep on Sunday to progress.

But Draper – who lost to Francisco Cerundolo on Friday – wanted to put on a show for the 15,000-strong home crowd and keep his team in the tie.

There was no love lost between the pair who were involved in a controversial match point at the Cincinnati Open a month ago.

Then, the Brit sealed victory despite appearing to hit the ball into the ground and then over the net.

However, after losing a gruelling 67-minute first-set tie-break 10-8 to Auger-Aliassime, Draper’s frustration boiled over.

The new world No20 and heir to Andy Murray’s British tennis throne fired his backhand long on set point.

He then pummelled his Dunlop frame into the court FIVE times before throwing the fragmented remains to the floor and kicking them away and yanking off his cap in anger.

Auger-Aliassime could not resist a wry smile at his opponent’s meltdown as he celebrated clinching the first set.

It was a rare moment of Draper’s emotions completely boiling over on the court and left the commentator stunned and tennis fans divided.

The BBC Sport commentator said: “Draper showing his frustration, demolishing his racquet.

“That’s what it means to him, he’s invested so much in that outstanding first set.

“It was quite an outburst from Draper in the way he destroyed his racquet.”

One journalist wrote on X: “One of the best racquet smashes of the year by Jack Draper. It went smash – smash – smash – smash – smash – drop – side foot.”

Another fan added: “I absolutely love this. Shows he’s passionate and invested and hates to lose.”

But a third commented: “Grow up for goodness sake.”

And a fourth replied: “Draper’s temper tantrum smashing his racket really poor taste.”

The spectacular demolition job was so severe an official had to wipe down the court with a towel before an attendant with a LEAF BLOWER was called to clear the remaining debris before play could continue.

Tennis stars’ new careers

PLENTY of tennis stars have stayed involved in the sport since retiring.

But others pursued very different careers. Here are some of the best…

Things did not get much better for Draper in second set as he failed to capitalise on two break points at 3-2.

The US Open semi-finalist then pushed a volley wide while trying to save break point on his own serve at 5-5 before Auger-Aliassime closed out a 7-6 7-5 victory.

There was a frosty handshake between the pair at the net.

Wimbledon champion and Davis Cup debutant Henry Patten teamed up with Neal Skupski to win the dead-rubber doubles, with the tie already over.

Evans then admitted he will consider his Davis Cup future.

The Brummie said: “I’ve thought about it long and hard. I’ll have to think a little more.

“I love competing for my country. I’ve loved every minute of it but sometimes you’ve got to know when to leave.”

However, there was good news for Brit Sonay Kartal.

The Brighton-based star won the first WTA Tour title of her career.

The 22-year-old qualifier – who reached round three at Wimbledon – beat Slovakian Rebecca Sramkova 6-3 7-5 in the final of the WTA 250 Jasmin Open in Tunisia.

That saw her break into the top 100 in the world rankings for the first time, rising 55 places to 96th.

After having a tumultuous love life, The Only Way Is Essex’s Amber Turner seems to have finally found “the one”.

The reality star is in a relationship with Kent man Archie Chandler.

Unlike his famous girlfriend, he isn’t a celebrity but sources have said he is “well known in the Essex circle”.

It’s reported that Archie and Amber got together in May 2024.

The couple then went Instagram official with their romance in July 2024.

Since revealing their love to the world, they have been snapped on several holidays, including a romantic break to Ibiza.

When Amber turned 31, Archie sent her 100 white roses.

Posting a photo of the giant bouquet on Instagram, she wrote, “Most special one yet ❤ ✨.

Archie then posted a photo alongside Amber on his Story with the caption “Happy birthday AT ❤ [her initials, of course].”

An insider told the MailOnline: “Amber is happier than ever, she’s finally found someone who treats her properly following years of feeling let down.

“She has known Archie for months now and the pair have often spent time together in Dubai but she’s still taking their relationship slowly.”

Bitter break-up with Dan Edgar

Before finding love with Archie, Amber was in a high profile with fellow Towie star, Dan Edgar.

The pair dated on and off for six years from 2017, but revealed they had split for good in May 2023.

They became a couple after Amber cheated on her long-term boyfriend Jamie Reed with Dan while in Tenerife.

Dan has been dating his Towie co-star Ella Rae Wise since growing close in Bali in early 2024.

There had been rumours he had cheated on Amber with Ella in the past.

Amber cried to her friends in a Towie episode as she admitted being “hurt” by Dan’s new romance.

Fresh start for Amber

Following the break-up, Amber has been splitting her time between Dubai and her native Essex.

However she returned home to film the new series of Towie.

The Sun exclusively revealed how the reality star had to hand over her dog to ex-Dan Edgar after she relocated abroad.

Exact figure to look out for on your 50p coin to rake in 432 times its value – do you have one in your change?

A SIMPLE 50p coin could be worth hundreds of pounds if it features an unusual design produced for the 2012 London Olympics.

Unlike the common tails-side designs, this coin has a cartoon high-jumper, drawn by a nine-year-old ahead of the Games.

The Blue Peters 50p has been sold on eBay for 432 times its usual value[/caption]

Now, people are unearthing the rare coin – known as the Blue Peter 50p – and one has just been sold on eBay for a whopping £216.55.

The lucky lister received 26 bids on the coin and made the final sale on September 14th.

The cartoon was drawn by schoolgirl Florence Jackson in 2009 for a competition run by popular kids TV show Blue Peter.

It features a high jumper bending backwards over a pole, with a surprised look on its face.

Florence’s drawing was selected out of 17,000 entries, and she became the youngest person to ever design a coin.

Over 2.2 million of the Blue Peter 50p coins were issued, with most most minted in 2011.

In Change Checker’s most recent scarcity index (dated August 2024), the coin is ranked 26th in the table of 50p coins, with 25 scarcity index points.

This is an improvement on its ranking in 2022, suggesting the coin is increasing in value.

However, this eBay-listed coin was minted in 2009, making it part of an even rarer bunch.

These earlier coins have fetched as much as £286 online.

The recent selling price of £216.55 is the highest in a while, with a similar listing going for £142 with only six bids last month.

The value of the coin varies according to its condition, as well as the condition and rarity of its packaging.

The Blue Peter 50p was part of a wider initiative to introduce new coins in celebration of the 2012 Olympics.

As well as the high jumper cartoon, the other 29 coins produced for the Games feature judo, triathlon, football and tennis.

They differ hugely in value, with one erroneous swimming-themed coin worth up to £1500.

What are the most rare and valuable coins?
