Pokémon announces the next major in-game event where you can grab a powerful ‘mon for free

POKÉMON holds events every month that will let people grab tournament-ready powerful ‘mons.

This weekend is the first Grand Challenge of the season, which everyone can enter for some amazing in-game rewards.

a picture of a snake with the letter m on it
Serperior uses Contrary to deal big damage and boost its stats

However, you’ll need a team of powerful Pokémon if you want to take part, and the latest event will let you grab one perfect for a battle-ready team.

The Pokémon Company has revealed that the next seven-star Tera raid will be a Grass Tera type Serperior.

Serperior can be particularly dangerous as it comes with the ability Contrary, which will allow it to boost its stats while using powerful attacks.

In competitive play in particular, Serperior will use Leaf Storm, a powerful Grass-type attack that will double its power for the next attack.

Not only that but with the Grass Tera type, Serperior will have extra power behind its Leaf Storm and other Grass-type moves.

Serperior will be available in raids over two weekends, with the first set being available from Friday, September 20, 2024, until Sunday, September 22, 2024.

As the Grand Challenge also takes place over these dates, it’s possible to grab the Serperior and have it ready for the tournament.

The second weekend it’s available is from Friday, September 27, 2024, until Sunday, September 29, 2024.

There are a number of counters to the Serperior fight, including using Fire- and/or Poison-type Pokémon, as Serperior doesn’t have great coverage moves.

Players will want to find some way to neutralise Serperior’s Contrary ability by using tactics like Neutralising Gas, Gastro Acid, or Skill Swap.

If you can remove its ability, then Leaf Storm will drop its attack rather than raising it, making it much easier to deal with.

Something like Weezing, with the Neutralising Gas ability, is a perfect support partner for raids like this, and it can fire back with super effective Sludge Bombs.

The raid will be available once per day per game save, and you can take it on as many times as you want by playing online.

However, while you can receive the rewards multiple times, you’ll only be able to catch Serperior the Unrivalled once.

Even without the Serperior, it’s worth entering the Grand Challenge, as you will be able to pick up plenty of LP, which can be used to build other battle-ready ‘mons.

Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table with bad news for Man Utd despite win and Everton in SHOCK position

A SUPERCOMPUTER has predicted the final Premier League table for this season.

But there’s bad news for Manchester United despite their win at Southampton.

Everton have been backed for a surprise finish despite their early struggles

While Everton have been tipped to finish in an incredible shock position.

The new season is well underway with four games played by all teams.

This weekend saw a host of interesting results from across the country, with Liverpool losing at home to Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal got the better of Spurs in the north London derby.

While Chelsea secured a timely win at Bournemouth.

And on the back of the latest results, boffins at OLBG have been able to produce a final predicted table thanks to their supercomputer.

Man City are once again backed to finish first, which would make for a record-extending fifth consecutive title win.

Arsenal are also tipped for second, which would be their third straight seasons finishing as runners-up.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

A new-look Chelsea under Enzo Maresca are then predicted to come third in what would be a stunning return to the Champions League.

And Arne Slot’s Liverpool have been backed into fourth despite their shock defeat to Forest.

The table starts becoming juicy as the race for the remaining European places hots up.

A resurgent Newcastle are predicted to gain Europa League football with fifth place.

And they will be joined in the competition by none other than West Ham.

That leaves Spurs to finish seventh for the Europa Conference League.

And it’s bad news for Erik ten Hag again, with United tipped to come eighth after finishing there last season too.

Despite finishing on the same points as Spurs, the Red Devils are predicted to miss out on continental football due to goal difference.

a table of supercomputer predictions for the premier league

But those strikes also keep them above Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, who are also tipped to finish on 56 points.

Villa’s fall from grace is compounded by the prediction that they will only finish one spot above Everton, who have been backed into 11th despite being bottom of the current table with zero points.

Brighton, Fulham and Brentford follow next in mid-table.

While Bournemouth, Wolves and Leicester are predicted to beat the drop.

But it’s bad news for Nottingham Forest, who are so far unbeaten with eight points from their opening four matches.

The supercomputer reckons they will slide all the way down the table into the drop zone, resulting with their relegation to the Championship.

Newly-promoted Southampton are also backed to go down.

While Ipswich are tipped to finish with just 15 points after picking just TWO wins all season.

One in four Brits say they’ve already done their Christmas shopping to avoid missing out

ONE in four have got a head start on their Christmas shopping – as many of these are worried about items selling out.

With today (16th September) marking 100 Days to Christmas, a poll of 2,000 adults found 50 per cent have struggled to get hold of in-demand presents in years gone by – and 30 per cent have missed out completely.

Past misses explain people’s rush to buy early Christmas gifts.

Decorations and tech top the list of products shoppers fear they will lose out on

As a result, 38 per cent feel anxious until they’ve bagged the item and 36 per cent are left feeling exhausted thinking about what they need to buy.

But of these early starters, 36 per cent have already bought the main present for an adult.

The items shoppers are most worried about selling out include decorations (36 per cent), the latest tech products (32 per cent), children’s advent calendars (29 per cent) and Christmas’ must have toys (29 per cent).

The research was commissioned by cashback and rewards firm Rakuten, and its shopping and trends expert, Alex Stedman, said: “There are many factors that encourage FOSO – a fear of selling out.

“From missing out in the past to seeing a product becoming increasingly popular on social media – many worry that they might not be able to get hold of their perfect gift.”

“And it’s easy to see why, over the years we’ve seen many sought after items such as beauty advent calendars, and items like game consoles become gold dust and create panic.”

As well as avoiding sell-outs, many are starting the season early to spread the cost (52 per cent).

Others want better bargains by starting their shopping as soon as possible (45 per cent) or quite simply because they love Christmas (26 per cent).

Savvy approaches to festive shopping also includes maximising loyalty points built up over the year (25 per cent).

And 15 per cent are using the money earned from cashback websites – of these 43 per cent save their cashback specifically to put towards Christmas.

With another 40 per cent buying items as early as possible so the money earned is in their account by December.

The research, which was conducted via OnePoll.com, also found that the average Yuletide budget is set to be £626 this year.

Alex Stedman from Rakuten added: “By planning ahead, we’re not only securing gifts we know our loved ones will want, but also ensuring a much more stress-free festive season – something we can all aspire to.

“What’s more, by also maximising deals and cashback offers, we can stretch our spending power, adding even more festive magic to the occasion.”

TOP TIPS FROM SHOPPING EXPERT TO AVOID MISSING OUT ON CHRISTMAS MUST-HAVES

1.           Subscribe: If an item is sold out, don’t panic. Many retailers offer alerts when it’s back in stock, and with 100 days until Christmas, you’ll likely have time to grab it.

2.           Capitalise: Monitor for deals. Often these happen before December so sign up to retailer sites and be ready to grab a bargain when they happen.

3.           Maximise: Utilise a cashback shopping platform to earn cashback on top of deals and sales, maximising your festive funds.

4.           Organise: If the fear of missing out is just too much, have a backup gift in mind. Often the receiver has no idea what you have planned! And they’ll be fine if it changes. This reduces stress and ensures you have options.

My lungs ‘turned to concrete and collapsed’ after vaping left ‘black, gooey vape juice’ leaking from my body

A WOMAN got so addicted to vaping that she showered and slept with her e-cig – until she nearly died when her lungs collapsed and “black mucus” poured out of her body.

Jordan Brielle had been smoking cigarettes since being a young teen but decided to switch to vaping in 2021.

She was placed in a medically induced coma for 11 days and medics suctioned vape juice out of her lungs[/caption]

The 32-year-old, who lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, US, soon became addicted to the devices – forking out $500 (£380) a week on her vaping habit.

Jordan said she even took her e-cigarette into the shower and slept with it at the height of her addiction.

The residential assistant noticed a decline in her health in November last year when she began to feel a distinct heaviness in her chest.

The step-mum-of-one said she went to the hospital “two or three times a week” with breathing problems – but still continued to vape despite her respiratory issues.

In May, Jordan was rushed to hospital after her partner found her unresponsive in bed with “black mucus” dripping out of her nose and mouth.

After suctioning two litres of “black” fluid from her lungs, doctors placed Jordan into a medically induced coma for 11 days.

Jordan admits she feels lucky to be alive – and is now warning others to steer clear of vaping.

Jordan said: “I was fully addicted. I was vaping so much that I slept with it, it went to the shower with me. I was vaping an excessive amount.

“Then in mid-November, I began feeling a heaviness in my chest. At first it was just a respiratory infection or bronchitis so I kept going to the hospital with breathing problems.

“I had a horrible cough and was going to the hospital two or three times a week for help. I had little to no voice.

“Each time they would send me home. It felt like there were 80lbs of pressure just laying on my chest. I’d never felt so sick in my life.

“My body was swelling up from my ankles to my kneecaps. I kept going to the hospital because I was progressively getting worse.

“My skin was turning grey, I couldn’t focus, I was very discombobulated. It was hurting to walk. I could barely do anything.

“Nobody knew what was actually wrong with me. I felt like I was dying.”

‘Quit any way you can’

Jordan said she caught Covid-19 and pneumonia but still continued to vape during her health difficulties.

It was only when her partner found her unresponsive in bed before a night shift that Jordan decided to ditch the e-cigarettes for good.

Jordan said: “When he went to wake me up [before a night shift], he said there was black mucus coming out of my mouth and my nose.

“He said I was gasping but couldn’t catch my breath. I was unresponsive and had a faint pulse.

“He began sucking the sputum out of my nose and mouth to try and give me CPR. He called 911 because the CPR wasn’t working.

My body was trying to force out the vape juice inside my lungs, which was like concrete. It was pure black and bloody

Jordan Brielle

“I don’t remember anything. I was intubated immediately and taken to hospital.”

Doctors immediately hooked Jordan up to a ventilator and her family was told her left lung had collapsed and right had partially collapsed.

Medics began suctioning two litres of ‘vape juice’ inside Jordan’s lungs before placing her into a medically induced coma for 11 days.

Jordan said: “My body was trying to force out the vape juice inside my lungs, which was like concrete. It was pure black and bloody. At the hospital, they were sucking it out of me.

“There was at least two litres of fluid on my lungs. In hospital, they told me my lungs were extremely damaged from smoking and vaping.

The 4 horrifying things that can happen to your body after vaping

VAPES were once hailed as miracle devices to help adults ditch cigarettes.

But while the devices don’t carry the same risks as tobacco, experts have warned that vaping might not be so harmless after all.

Here are five ways vaping could damage young users bodies:

1. It could slow down brain development

Vaping nicotine can permanently affect brain development in people under the age of 25, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

It said that nicotine consumed during teenage years can harm the parts of the brain that control attention, learning, mood, and impulse control, as well as increase the risk of addiction.

2. It could lead to tooth decay

Dr Michael Heffernan, a dentist at The Wessex Dental Specialist Care, said most vapes contain dangerous chemical that can harm your teeth and lead to decay.

Puffing on the devices could also lead to mouth dryness, creating an environment in which harmful bacteria can grow.

3. It could damage heart health

However, some of the chemicals found in vapes can be damaging to the heart, with the American Heart Association (AHA) stating that vaping is “as harmful to the body’s cardiovascular systems as cigarettes”.

4. It could cause lung disease

Vaping from a young age could leave children with breathing difficulties, with paediatric respiratory consultant Dr Mike McKean saying he’d seen reports of people developing lung disease related to vaping.

Researchers from the US also found that young people who vape are more at risk of bronchitis, inflammation of the airways, and shortness of breath.

Read more on how vaping can affect your health here.

“It felt like there was a popped balloon in my lungs. I had to do breathing and lungs exercises before I was discharged.

“I’ve been left with a minor brain injury due to lack of oxygen to my brain.

“The doctors told me there’s a high possibility this could happen again. I’m better now in some ways but worse in other ways.

“They really saved my life. They told me if I’d waited any longer, I wouldn’t have been here. I haven’t touched a vape since.”

Jordan pleaded with other vapers: “I would say to anyone else quit any way you can.

“Do it for your health, your family, your life, your lungs – whatever motivates you, use that reason and stop.

“I wouldn’t wish what I’d been through on anyone else. I feel grateful to be alive.”
