‘I love you, but you kill me’ Huw Edwards’ vile messages to teen victim & depths of grooming revealed in Sun documentary

VILE messages sent by Huw Edwards to the teenager at the centre of our original revelations about the shamed BBC newsreader today lay bare the depths of his grooming.

A new Sun documentary into the presenter’s sickening behaviour shows how he sent a series of controlling and abusive messages to the young man, who was sending him sexual images in return for payments of tens of thousands of pounds.

The exchanges reveal Edwards’s secret Jekyll and Hyde character as he switches between repeatedly telling his victim that he loves him – before viciously abusing him in foul-mouthed tirades.

Edwards also gives the young man instructions on using PayPal and a Monzo bank account so he can send him cash.

At his sentencing today, it was separately revealed how Edwards was also sending money to the convicted paedophile who was supplying him with indecent images of children, via WhatsApp.

Alex Williams was sent between £1,000 and £1,500 by Edwards.

It suggests Edwards had a pattern of behaviour of sending money to people who were supplying sexual pics.

The messages we reveal today were sent to the unnamed young man at the centre of our original revelations about Edwards, which were published in July 2023.

The youngster, who had a drug problem, received as much as £35,000 from the shamed TV presenter.

Experts said the messages show a clear pattern of “grooming”.

At one point Edwards tells the vulnerable teenager:  “I love you but you kill me.”

In another he says: “You think my life revolves around you?

“Get f***ing real.”

In The Sun’s documentary about the scandal “Huw Edwards Unmasked”, the mum of the vulnerable victim tells of her shock when she discovered the texts between her son and Edwards.

She said: “When I first saw the messages I felt sick, so disgusted.

“Sick to my stomach. There were so many.

“On New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day. Even When Huw was with his family…

“Calling my son a ‘good boy’. Sending him kisses and love hearts…

“Even telling him he loves him. But then others, more aggressive, calling my son all sorts.

“Threatening my boy.”

Paedo's pattern of behaviour

By Scarlet Howes

NIGHT after night he sternly delivered the most important news to the nation, with his authoritative style winning countless awards.

But away from his famous desk, as we have discovered, Huw Edwards was a manipulative paedophile who used the same pattern of behaviour time and time again to feed his relentless desires.

Some 437 days since the Sun’s bombshell front page – Edwards today appeared in court to learn his fate, his once glittering career in ruins.

Our exclusive that he paid a youngster thousands of pounds for sexual pictures made headlines around the globe and set into motion a series of events which plunged the BBC into crisis.

And Edwards – at the time the BBC’s highest earning newsreader – never again appeared on our screens.

Today, a court heard Edwards paid a younger convicted paedophile £1,500 for child sex images and videos of children which he described as “amazing”.

The case centred on messages between sex offender Alex Williams, who was a teen when they struck up a relationship, and 63-year-old Edwards.

We must be clear, the facts of that case are unrelated to our original story.

But there are some alarming similarities in his exchanges with both young people – and a pattern of deeply disturbing behaviour.

He made contact with both on social media, messaged them on WhatsApp, harassed them for pictures, and then gave them money.

There were kisses involved and Christmas presents given.

Chillingly, he even bought both of them, who are decades younger, a pair of trainers.

And all in exchange for sexual pictures.

Cash was used as leverage to the men, one homeless, the other a student, who could only dream of earning his top salary.

What The Sun uncovered was a pattern of behaviour and had we not done so Edwards’ could well have remained undetected.

In one exchange – on New Year’s Eve 2022 – Edwards sends a string of abusive messages to the young man.

“Stop being a kn*b and talk to me tomorrow when you’re sober.”

“Now listen to me. If you want help in future stop this cr*p ok.”

“You’ve disappointed me.”

“I regret helping you so much.”

“I should have known.”

“You should know better.”

The film reveals that in another exchange on February 18 last year, Edwards again launches a torrent of abuse towards his young victim – and worries his secret payments in return for sexual images will be revealed.

He wrote: “You’re a disaster area.”

“Why does this happen all the time??!??”

“I’m with family stop being a pain.”

“I’m sick of you getting into a mess all the time.”

“Don’t be stupid.”

“My Monzo is easily traceable.”

“I can do PayPal nothing else.”

“You are really really really trying my patience.”

“I don’t need this f***ing sh*t.”

“Delete these messages if it’s not your phone ok???”

“Send me your Monzo details you idiot.”

“You make me so angry.”

“WTF you talking about you f***ing disaster.”

“Go f**k yourself.”

“Get f***ing real.”

“Tell you what. I’ll stop helping you then you can see what no care is.”

“F**k you.”

“You’re an ungrateful t**t.”

But in the same exchange Edwards suddenly flips and tells the young man he loves him and wants to meet him in Wales.

He posted: “I f***ing love you…but you kill me x”

“I love you seriously x”

“I will never end you. You idiot. You know that. X”

“Next time in Cardiff you need to see me x”

“Good boy.”

“Don’t forget.”

“I love you x”

Our investigation also reveals that a few days later Edwards again messaged the boy after sending him more cash.
He wrote: “I love you.

“Don’t forget.

“It’s good to know you are loved X.”

But the star presenter’s mood switched again later after his young victim rang him in the middle of the night.

Edwards texted:”I can’t trust you to respect my situation.

“Now leave me alone.

“Actually calling me at 2am? F**k that.

“Calling me at 2am even when I told you to stop ??????

You’re so f***ing out of order.

“Grow up.

“Just grow up.

“And when someone helps you – show respect.”

'Edwards completely fits the profile of a sexual predator', says ex Met cop

Ex cop and internet expert Jonathan Taylor said Edwards “completely” fits the profile of a sexual predator.

Jonathan, who spent 10 years working undercover with the Met police to snare groomers, said: “You had a young vulnerable person and a family crying out for help but Huw didn’t offer professional help like any adult would or should. He used it to his advantage.

“The parents concerned must have worried that Edwards was condemning their child to a lifetime of drug use.”

He said the exchanges between the 17-year-old and the powerful presenter were typical of groomers.

He added: “Hugh has made a decision to engage with this person rather than dismiss contact with someone much younger.

“These exchanges were the type I’d see as an undercover police officer when I’d pose as a young person. I would remain completely passive and the other person, in this case Huw, would try to instigate meetings.

“It shows a pattern of behaviour and I would not be at all surprised if more young people came forward.

“Edwards completely fits the profile of a sexual predator.”

The Sun revealed in July 2023 that Edwards had paid at least £35,000 to the young man in return for sexual pictures.

The mum said: My son told me everything. Huw Edwards had been paying him for sexual pictures.

“Huw Edwards was paying him to perform sexually. My son. We had to stop it.

“Suddenly out of nowhere he had money to spend. He started showing me deposits in his bank account for £2,000 at a time. That money, that was fuelling his addiction.

“I asked his cousin who was paying him and they said it was an old man with grey hair.

“I couldn’t believe it. A grey-haired man was sending money to my 17-year-old son.

“I knew it must be something sexual but I didn’t even realise he was gay at this point. He didn’t come out to me until later.

“He sent me a picture of Huw Edwards sat on a sofa in his boxers, leaning forward as though getting ready to fondle himself – while my son performs for him. They would have sex on a video call and Edwards would pay him for it.

“Huw Edwards was a man in his sixties and my son was a teenage boy. It wasn’t normal.

“I didn’t like what my son was telling or showing me. But as his mother I was worried sick and I didn’t want him to stop confiding in me.

“There was one time when my son said to me: ‘Do you think I’m the only one, Mum?’

“And I had to say: ‘No, love. There’ll be others’.

“It was heartbreaking.

“I liked that man. He was always my favourite on TV. My favourite. He was Welsh, like us.

“And then sometimes I could hear my son on the phone to him and I could hear an evil man talking.

“The next day I would see him presenting the news on TV and I’d see evil.”

The Sun has released its documentary ‘Huw Edwards: Unmasked’ which lifts the lid on the predatory paedophile – you can watch it on thesun.co.uk and our YouTube channel.

Footage of the crash shows the plane plunging to the ground and exploding on impact shortly before a military show in Bulgaria.

Suddenly, the pilot pulls the plane up and shoots high into the air, apparently attempting to perform a loop-the-loop, a 360-degree vertical loop.

However, he appears to lose power and flips the plane around in a desperate attempt to pull out of the dive as the aircraft hurtles towards the ground.

The plane does not pull up in time and hits the ground hard, exploding instantly in a fiery inferno of black smoke and burning fuel.

Footage shows a large cloud of black smoke rising into the air as filming ends.

Prior to the crash, the aircraft, reportedly an L-39ZA Albatros, was performing acrobatic stunts during a training exercise before the airshow.

According to local media, the pilots identified as Major Petko Dimitrov and Senior Lieutenant Ventsislav Dunkin, died instantly.

Bulgarian Air Force Commander Major General Dimitar Petrov stressed that it was a routine flight for which the pilots.

He said “exemplary pilots with exceptional experience” had been carefully preparing for several months, and the aircraft had recently undergone restoration.

He said: “Major Dimitrov was one of Bulgaria’s best and most experienced pilots.

“Lieutenant Dunkin was a great promise for the future. In view of the supreme sacrifice these pilots made in the line of duty, I declare September 15 a day of mourning in the armed forces.

“Flags will be lowered in memory of the fallen.”

The Bulgarian Defence Minister, Atanas Zapryanov, cancelled the air show.

He said that an investigation was underway to establish the circumstances and causes of the incident.

Military prosecutors and investigators, as well as employees of the Military Police Service, are also investigating, according to local media reports.

The incident took place at the Graf Ignatievo Air Base, in the village of Graf Ignatievo, not far from Bulgaria’s second city, Plovdiv.

Closer to home, a pilot died after crashing his plane into an industrial area.

Police, ambulance and fire crews all converged on the estate in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, after residents reported an aircraft hurtling in low before smashing into the ground.

Joshua Poole, a local aviation enthusiast, told The Sun: “My parents called me to ask if I was ok because they thought it was a car crash.

“I drove up to make sure it wasn’t anyone we knew.

“There was just smoke everywhere.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The pilot of a light aircraft that crashed in an industrial estate near Chesterfield has died.

“Emergency services were called to land off Sheepbridge Lane, in Sheepbridge, Chesterfield, earlier today (Sunday 1 September).

“An investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.

“The pilot was the only person on board and died in the collision. His family has been informed.

“Roads in the immediate area are closed and will remain shut for some time while the investigation continues.”

They added that the investigation would be handed over to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau.

The business owner and influencer, 25, who was dressed down in a green oversized Ralph Lauren jumper and black trousers, didn’t spot him as she went about her business.

Molly-Mae wore shades and her blonde hair in a ponytail, while she carried her £25k Birkin handbag over one arm and held an iced coffee and snack in the other hand.

It’s at least the fourth ticket she’s received this year, while her ex Tommy Fury also got a ticket in the car earlier in January when they were still an item.

Multi-millionaire Molly-Mae was on such a high with her latest career development last week it’s unlikely the ticket will bother her too much.

She announced she will be hosting a pop-up store in London later this month for her new womenswear brand Maebe – and tickets sold out in minutes.

Molly, who split from boxer ex Tommy last month after he cheated on her, took to her Instagram story and said: “YOU GUYS JUST SOLD THE TICKETS OUT IN 4 MINUTES…

“I am speechless.

“THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.”

The YouTuber then shared a video to her story with the caption: “SOLD OUT!!!!

“WHOEVER MANAGED TO GET A TICKET SEE YOU THERE.”

Announcing the pop-up on Instagram, the brand posted: “Did you think we’d make you wait until launch date to experience the brand?…

“We are hosting a POP UP!

“The event will be ticketed and will be held 9am-4pm, 21st September, Soho, London. More information to follow.

“Tickets and location to be released on Sunday, 15th, 6pm.”

Molly also took to her Instagram story to talk about the event.

Speaking to her camera in the front of her car, she said: “Hey guys, I’ve just come out of the most exciting shoot we’ve been doing all day for Maebe.

“You may have seen over on the Maebe store Instagram account that we’ve just announced our pop-up shop.

“A little bit of a surprise for you all. We’re doing a pop-up shop on the 21st of this month.

“A few of you did actually guess it.. I’m just so so so excited!”

Timeline of Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury's split

After five years together, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury split up in August 2024.

At around 4pm on Wednesday, August 14, Molly-Mae and Tommy suffer an explosive showdown and Molly-Mae announces her split from fiancé Tommy Fury, saying ‘ I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way’.

An hour later Tommy shares a separate and brief statement confirming they have parted ways, and thanks Molly-Mae for making him ‘a dad’.

The real reason they split emerges and on Thursday, August 15 The Sun reveals how Molly-Mae learned Tommy had cheated on her – leading to an explosive showdown.

On Saturday, August 17, The Sun reveals how Molly-Mae had been sent an upsetting video showing Tommy kissing a girl in a nightclub in North Macedonia on a lads holiday.

Exactly one week after the split a Danish woman accused of getting close to Tommy speaks to The Sun. On Wednesday, August 21, she denies she is the girl who kissed Tommy.

Deadline set to make Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight as Eddie Hearn admits clock ticking on biggest fight in history

ANTHONY JOSHUA must fight Tyson Fury by the end of 2025, claimed promoter Eddie Hearn.

A super-fight between two generational stars of British boxing has been rumoured for several years but talks always stalled.

Eddie Hearn will do everything in his power to get the bout done

Joshua, 34, will challenge fellow Brit Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight belt at Wembley on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Fury, 36, will take on Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the other three recognised world titles, to a rematch in December.

Hearn told the BBC: “I do think AJ-Fury will happen regardless of whether Fury wins or not.

“But the size of the fight depends on their next two results.”

In June, Joshua urged Fury to fight him while both boxers are still “fresh” but said he will not “sit around and wait” for the Gypsy King.

Asked whether there is a deadline of next year, Matchroom’s Hearn replied: “Yes, definitely.

“If AJ beats Dubois and Fury beats Usyk, you’ve got the biggest fight in the history of the sport ever.

“If one loses and the other wins, it’s still a monster fight.”

Joshua has his eyes firmly set on climbing back to the top of the boxing world this weekend.

If he beats Dubois he will emulate greats Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Vitali Klitschko and Evander Holyfield by becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.

ANTHONY JOSHUA VS DANIEL DUBOIS: All the information you need ahead of huge world title fight at Wembley

The pair had to be separated when the promotion got under way with Frank Warren finding himself between the two giants as security guards held them back during a head-to-head interview.

Dubois currently holds the IBF belt which Usyk relinquished in June, ending his reign as the first undisputed heavyweight champion for a quarter of a century after barely a month.

Usyk was forced to vacate the belt in order to honour the contracted rematch with Fury, who suffered his first career defeat to the unbeaten Ukrainian in May.

Joshua won his first world title in April 2016 with a second-round knockout win over Charles Martin.

After losing his unified titles to Andy Ruiz Jr in January 2019, he won the belts back from the Mexican boxer six months later.

But the Watford fighter then suffered back-to-back losses to Usyk to leave his career on the knife edge.

Classy sports coupe with 166 mph top speed can be yours for less than Britain’s cheapest new car

PETROLHEADS can pick up an incredibly cool sports car with a top speed of 166 mph for less than Britain’s cheapest new car.

The light-weight motor is well on its way to modern classic status with many car aficionados ranking it highly for its performance, balance and value for money.

Motors
The light-weight motor is known for its fun-factor[/caption]

The motor in question is the effortlessly brilliant Porsche Cayman – which in 2024 can be found second-hand at a very tempting low price.

In fact, we found an example on the Motors used car website for just £12,995, which is lower than the cost of the Dacia Sandero – which is currently the UK’s cheapest new car.

Back in 2020, Sun Motors supremo Rob Gill described the GTS iteration of the Cayman as “possibly the best all-round Porsche ever made” – big words for a brand responsible for the 924, 959 and, naturally, of course, the 911.

The Cayman is often praised for its balance of performance and fun-to-drive factor, and it even offers a decent amount of practicality for a sports car.

In fact, in a recent chat with Richard Gotch, a long-time member and Head of Marketing & Communications for the Porsche Club Great Britain, it seems the Cayman is the Porsche of choice for fans of the brand looking for a smaller sports car.

He told Sun Motors in August: “It’s interesting because many of us who like the smaller, more compact 911, find that the Cayman is actually the new small Porsche sports car.

“Quite a few of our members have moved from the 911 to the Cayman, particularly the GT4 or even the Spyder.”

The example we stumbled across online is a first-gen coupe version from 2008, with 103,000 miles on the clock.

With a a flat-6 3.4-litre engine capable of 295bhp, this Cayman can hit up to 166 mph.

Earlier this year, modern classics expert James Russell of the Motor Grid insisted that petrolheads should think again before they turn their noses up at the so-called ‘poor man’s Porsche’ – such as the Cayman.

He said: “This Poor Man’s Porsche ideology has kept prices down for the 944, Boxster, and Cayman, ensuring that true driving enthusiasts can enjoy them, regardless of wealth.”

Elsewhere, Porsche recently ended 60 years of tradition by removing two iconic design features from the new 911 – and some fans were left fuming.
