Huge Brit rock band confirm gigs WILL go ahead after leaving fans in fear after cancelling show last minute

ROCK star Van McCann recently battled through technical issues to deliver a rip-roaring headline set at Reading Festival.

That prestigious billing looked set to propel his band Catfish and the Bottlemen to the next level, as evidenced by their first headline stadium shows being booked in for next summer.

However, the weeks since have seen nothing but disappointment.

The band cancelled its first Ireland show in five years just 15 minutes before doors were due to open because of illness.

A statement said: “We regret to inform you that tonight’s show is cancelled due to artist illness .

“Refunds are available from point of purchase.

“Apologies to all the fans who have travelled to the show today and for any inconvenience caused.”

The group then cancelled its Australian tour for the same reason, before axing US tour dates too.

While refunds were offered, no rescheduled dates have been forthcoming, leaving fans worried next summer’s stadium shows will suffer a similar fate.

However, the band have now confirmed that the following shows scheduled will go ahead.

Tickets are currently on sale for dates at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, next August.

Concert promoters Live Nation have confirmed that the scheduled UK shows are definitely still going ahead.

They told us that the cancellations were purely down to illness at the time and they still intend to perform for fans.

The band is yet to post publicly on its social media pages following the Dublin disaster last month.

Fans were previously left in despair at the lack of communication from the band.

One commented on the band’s most recent upload: “The way there’s not a single announcement about cancelling your entire tour…insane.”

Another joked: “man I really never thought I’d have the chance to see you guys live….. and I was right.”

A third wrote: “Cancelling the US shows with no explanation after we waited YEARS for this comeback? seems like nothing has changed lmaooo.”

A fourth asked: “Are ye gonna show up to these ones?”

The Welsh band has released three albums to date, with their second LP, The Ride, reaching number one in the UK chart, and their third album, The Balance, making it to number two.

Drummer Bob Hall left the group in 2021 and the following year guitarist Johnny Bond also departed.

Catfish released its first new music in five years earlier this year with single, Showtime.

I work at a fish and chip shop & there’s an item on the menu I’d never order – but my customers love it

FISH and chips are considered by many to be Britain’s national dish and are a staple favourite in many households.

However, insiders at Poppies, a renowned London fish and chip shop chain, have lifted the lid on secrets behind the counter.

A worker from fish and chip company Poppies has revealed the fish they’d never order[/caption]

The chain was named after founder Pat ‘Pops’ Newland, who started in the industry at the age of 11 cutting up newspapers for takeaway orders.

While the fish and chip shop now serves thousands of customers across London branches in Soho, Spitalfields, Camden, and Notting Hill, there is one dish they would be hesitant to order themselves.

One worker told Express.co.uk:”It would have to be jellied eels. They’ve been a popular dish since the 18th century and lots of our customers love them but if you’re new to the dish it can be quite a demanding bite.

“We serve them in the traditional way which is cold having been chopped, boiled and coated in a spiced stock that sets around the pieces of eel forming a jelly.”

They also revealed their best-selling dish.

It may not come as a surprise that cod and chips proved to be the number one choice, with

The Poppies team revealed that their best-selling dish is undoubtedly cod and chips, with 70 percent of Londoners favouring it over other fish types.

Meanwhile, the most popular side is mushy peas.

The team shared: “Curry sauce trumps gravy amongst our customers but the number one side is always mushy peas.”

And the time of day doesn’t matter as they are ordered “all day long”.

The staff member shared: “A lot of fish and chip shops use frozen fish fillets which I don’t think many people realise.

“The fillets come from far away and can be frozen a long time before they end up on your plate. It’s one of the main points of difference at Poppies.

“We only ever use fresh fish, caught sustainably and responsibly from the waters around Peterhead in Scotland.

“Every day we receive the fresh catch, our skilled fishmongers fillet and prepare the portions and then they are coated in batter and cooked to order for our customers.”

In total, Poppies peels 13 tons of potatoes and makes 40,000 portions of chips each week.
