PlayStation 6 has been in development since 2022 and hardware is almost ready it’s claimed
SONY’S announcement of the PS5 Pro appears to have fallen flat, thanks to its high price tag and number of missing features.
At £700/$700 without a disc drive or stand, people are already looking to the PS6 as their next big PlayStation upgrade.
PlayStation’s next console could have PS5 backwards compatibility[/caption]A new report by Reuters explains further details about the PS6’s development, and it might be coming sooner than we think.
The report claims that work on the PS6’s hardware began in 2022, just two years after the PS5 was originally released.
A number of companies reportedly bid for the job of designing and producing the chip that will be inside the next-generation hardware that same year.
AMD is said to have won the contract to develop the PS6’s hardware over the next most likely candidate, Intel.
Reuters sources claim that Intel lost out on the bid due to a dispute over the profits Intel would take on each chip sold.
AMD currently holds the contract for the development of PS5 chips, so this recent report is very good news for PlayStation fans.
The most asked for feature across all generations of Sony’s consoles is backwards compatibility.
While a digital library of PlayStation’s older games is welcome, long-time fans usually have an existing collection of physical games from older generation consoles.
PlayStation first took a step back from backwards compatibility with the second iteration of the PS3, which could no longer play PS2 games.
Then the PS4 was released with zero backwards compatibility, and the fans were outraged that they’d have to keep their existing hardware to play their games.
Sony seemingly listened to these complaints and brought back backwards compatibility with the PS5 but only for PS4 games.
As AMD is already manufacturing the chips for the PS5, backwards compatibility on the PS6 is most likely if AMD is also developing chips for the PS6.
Reuters sources say that PS6 backwards compatibility was a key part of the discussion for Sony, which could be the reason that AMD had the edge in winning the contract.
This does not guarantee backwards compatibility for the PS6, but it seems a promising sign.
It is still unclear whether these discussions included PS4 compatibility as this is included in current PS5 chip designs, but it is a possibility.
Backwards compatibility with Sony’s older consoles seems highly unlikely though.

Nick Kyrgios’ doubles partner splits from model girfriend after she ‘refused to be a Wag’
NICK KYRGIOS’ doubles partner has split from his model girlfriend – who refused to be called a “Wag”.
Thanasi Kokkinakis, 28, dated glamorous Hannah Dal Sasso for approximately 18 months.
Thanasi Kokkinakis and Hannah Dal Sasso have broken up[/caption] The couple dated for around 18 months[/caption] Model Hannah stated she did not want to be known as a Wag while they were dating[/caption]However, the Australian pair have unfollowed each other on Instagram and appear to have called time on their relationship.
Due to the nature of Kokkinakis’ tennis career, the pair were forced to spend most of their dating time doing long distance.
However, Hannah was spotted supporting the world No78 at Wimbledon and then during the US hard-court season.
They debuted publicly together when they attended Glamour on the Grid, the launch party for the Australian Grand Prix last March and were later spotted on a double date with Kyrgios and Costeen Hatzi.
But the couple seem to have now officially separated.
Speaking during their relationship, Hannah opened up on the challenges of dating a travelling tennis player.
She told the Herald Sun: “We just had a nice month together and I already miss him – long distance is really hard.
“Thanasi is really dedicated to his tennis and he’s putting everything into it and I’m so proud of him.”

Kokkinakis revealed Hannah – who runs a designer clothing hire company called Styled By Mim – was his “first girlfriend, probably ever” and joked he was a “late bloomer”.
Dal Sasso, though, was determined not to be labelled a Wag during their relationship – and wanted to have her own recognition.
Tennis stars following in parents' footsteps
TALK about pressure…
These rising stars are all making their way in tennis.
But they have got something in common – they’ve got a famous parent who also made their name in the sport.
So who are the players hoping to follow in the footsteps of their tennis mums and dads?
- My dad is one of the greatest tennis players ever… but he’s not my idol
- My mum won US Open aged 16 then Wimbledon… but you won’t know it from my surname
- My Czech dad won Australian Open and my sisters are elite golfers… but I’m playing for different country
- My millionaire dad played with Federer… but I’ve reached three Grand Slam finals
- My dad earned £1m and got to French Open final… but I’ve already surpassed his career
- My record-breaking dad is in tennis Hall of Fame and won Wimbledon… but I’m aiming to emulate his achievements
She said: “I know in footy there are so many girlfriends and they get called Wags, but in tennis there aren’t many and you never really see someone called that.
“I like having my own name and not being someone else’s partner.”
Kokkinakis is best mates with fellow Aussie Kyrgios.
The pair, dubbed the Special Ks, teamed up to win the men’s doubles title at their home Grand Slam, the Australian Open, in 2022.
The following year, in the singles, the Adelaide ace lost a dramatic five-set battle to Andy Murray 4-6 6-7 7-6 6-3 7-5 in five hours and 45 minutes – finishing at 4.05am.

A CELEBRITY hair stylist who has worked with everyone from Gwen Stefani to the Kardashians reflected on her career to date.
Jen Atkin went from working multiple jobs to see herself through her apprenticeship, to co-owning a successful beauty brand that lines the shelves in Sephora.
Jen Atkin spoke about her career to Grace Beverley on her podcast Working Hard, Hardly Working[/caption]Speaking to Grace Beverley on her podcast Working Hard, Hardly Working, the 44-year-old stylist recounted her story.
Raised as a Mormon in Utah and eventually Hawaii, Jen described her younger self as a “product of pop culture.”
She explained that she was obsessed with makeover scenes in movies and the idea of transformation.
Jen went on to channel this interest into her love of hair, despite not knowing any women who worked as stylists.
“My poor little sister, she was my first client, Barbie was another,” she recalls.
“I just always loved playing with hair and I never knew that could be a career.”
When she was 19, Jen moved to LA with her best friend after a chance encounter with American musician Dave Matthews inspired her to pursue her dream.
She joked that the adventure was like a real life Romy and Michelle, and revealed that she only had £230 to her name at the time.
Jen joked that at the time she had “zero plans, zero connections, and zero Wi-Fi.”
She explained that this was the best time for her to take risks as she “truly had nothing to lose.”
Who is Jen Atkin?
After moving to LA aged 19, Jen worked her way up from salon receptionist to celebrity hair stylist.
The 44-year-old is the co-owner of OUAI and has worked with everyone from the Hadid sisters to the Kardashians.
Jen also founded the digital magazine Mane Addicts and writes a column for Glamour magazine.
She published her first book Blowing My Way to the Top in 2020.
“I just didn’t feel like there was any risk, it was just me, myself, and I,” Jen says.
She started out by working as a receptionist in a salon in LA and “hoping for the best.”
This lucky break was exactly that as Jen revealed that she was only offered the job after the owner of the salon overheard her interviewing for another position in a Starbucks.
Jen described the salon as a “hot spot” and said it was “like a total movie.”
She says she took the opportunity to learn as much as she could, studying the manager, watching stylists, and assisting whenever possible.
I could tell there was a shift happening.
Jen Atkin
This led to her working directly with Madonna’s hair stylist and eventually doing extensions for the likes of Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, and Nicole Richie.
Jen explained that she never complained about her long work hours, and was always the first to show up and the last to leave.
After spending two years as a receptionist she went on to become salon manager, balancing her time with an apprenticeship and a night job working as a hostess to pay her bills.
Jen spent her mid 20s to early 30s assisting any stylist she could and she even went on tour with Madonna in 2006.
She booked an appointment styling a celebrity publicist and said they “hit it off,” crediting the unnamed woman as playing a “huge part in making my career happen.”
The publicist referred Jen to some of her clients, including Sofia Vergara.
Jen began working with Sofia Vergara after the actress’ publicist referred her to the star[/caption]Jen juggled a busy schedule for fashion events, sewing wigs for until 2:00 am, waking at 8:00 am to style models, and sneaking away to work on celebrities such as Emma Stone before returning to add touch ups.
By 2014, she had built a well-known clientele, including the Kardashians, and began focusing on other areas of her career.
Jen founded the digital magazine Mane Addicts, which she described as a “playground for people who love hair.”
“I really started thinking about a hair brand around 2014,” she explains.
“I could tell there was a shift happening.”
After styling Gwen Stefani for the cover of Vogue, Jen felt confident in her brand to take it a step further.
The packaging was horrendous, everything smelled like old lady of little girl bubblegum.
Jen Atkin
She noticed the issues in hair products and spotted a niche in the market.
“The packaging was horrendous, everything smelled like old lady of little girl bubblegum,” Jen recalls.
In contrast, she was inspired by models she worked with, explaining that “the mood board was that.”
“I wanted [my products] to look good, smell good, and work really well,” she says.
And with that OUAI was born, offering a range of haircare products in shops like Sephora.
While Jen describes the initial years of building a brand as “intense” and “so stressful,” she concludes they are well worth it.
The stylist, who became known for her expensive ‘dos, now makes up to £75,000 per speaking engagement.

The most divisive holiday debates have been revealed – including whether to pinch from the breakfast buffet and whether you unpack or not.
The research of 2,000 people who holiday abroad revealed 44 per cent are happy to snag some pastries from the buffet to enjoy later.
But 46 per cent wouldn’t dare pop a few nibbles in their bag before heading out for the day.
While 64 per cent will untuck their sheets around the entire bed before getting into bed, 25 per cent will leave the linen squeezed between the mattress and bedframe, keeping the sheets tightly tucked.
And 67 per cent think you should always unpack after checking into their accommodation, but 27 per cent are happy to live out of their suitcases.
The research was commissioned by Graduate by Hilton, a collection of hotels in university towns, which recently joined the Hilton portfolio.
The hospitality company also hosted The Great Travel Debate between Cambridge alumnus Simon Bird and fellow comedian Jessica Knappett over what makes a good hotel stay.
The Inbetweeners star, Simon Bird said: “It was great fun to be back in Cambridge for a fiery and full-throated debate with my good friend Jess Knappett.
“I was delighted to learn that the majority of Brits follow my lead and unpack on arrival.
’Chaos is the law of nature, order is the dream of man’ – that’s my motto.
“I look forward to hearing where the country stands on other travel-related hot potatoes.
“Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion of course.
“Unless they disagree with me, in which case they could not be more wrong.”
It also emerged 48 per cent reckon hotel guests should stay silent when around other guests, such as when taking the lift in a hotel, but 27 per cent argue it’s polite to make small talk with others.
And another piece of hotel breakfast etiquette is narrowly splitting those polled – with 38 per cent happy to fiddle with the toast settings on the conveyor belt.
But 27 per cent are adamant this shouldn’t be touched.
Comedian Jessica Knappett added: “I found it very interesting that Simon and I had such different views when it comes to hotel stays, I had no idea after all these years being friends.
“I just don’t see the need in unpacking my bag, and I’ll always be the one walking around in a robe, wherever I go.
“Whether it’s breakfast or a nightcap at the bar, I’m bringing that slice of fluffy heaven with me everywhere.”
The research, commissioned via OnePoll, also found 22 per cent have ‘spirited’ debates over the right way to travel.
With 52 per cent making compromises while on holiday, and 47 per cent conceding up to six concessions during a one week-long getaway.
But when it comes to enjoying their accommodation, 21 per cent won’t compromise on bringing their own pillows to a hotel.
And 18 per cent will proudly walk around the facilities in their fluffy robes.
Kevin Osterhau, president, lifestyle brands at Hilton, said: “I am Team Simon on this debate (sorry Jessica).
“Partnering with Simon and Jessica to settle The Great Travel Debates has been a fantastic way to welcome Graduate into our family, especially given the legendary debate culture at universities such as Oxford and Cambridge.
“Regardless of your travel preferences, our hotel taps into those storied traditions that make these universities and their communities so special.
“For guests, it can be more than a place to rest your head, but a way to immerse yourself in nostalgia and collegiate spirit.”

The ‘posh apartment block’ that’s home to 10 royals – but there’s ‘not much privacy’ & it’s dubbed a ‘prison for kids’
KENSINGTON Palace is one of the most grand buildings in London – but it’s also home to 10 royal family members and numerous staff.
In fact, the magnificent bolthole is currently hosting an exhibition focusing on hardworking “courtiers and servants” who have tirelessly run royal palaces over the years.
The Prince and Princess of Wales used to reside at Kensington Palace with their three kids[/caption] William and Kate used to live at the 20-room Apartment 1A, and still use it as their official offices in London[/caption]Royal fans have got to be quick, as Untold Lives: A Palace at Work is running until October – and features the stories of staff including pages, cooks, wetnurses and seamstresses.
According to royal expert Jennie Bond, residing at Kensington Palace is like “living in an extremely posh apartment block” – so it’s not surprising that a number of royals call it home.
Kate and William
Famously the Prince and Princess of Wales used Kenginston Palace’s 20-room Apartment 1A as a home for a number of years.
Although it is called an “apartment”, royal experts have hailed the royal dwelling as being anything but tiny.
The “enormous” Apartment 1A is spread over four floors and takes up half the Clock Tower wing designed by Sir Christopher Wren for King William and Queen Mary.
It boasts five reception rooms, three main bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, as well as his-and-hers dressing rooms.
Meanwhile, in the basement there is a gym, laundry room and space for luggage.
Of course the family has lots of staff at their beck and call, and there are nine bedrooms for employees on the top floor, which can be reached by a lift.
Despite the impressive amenities, William and Kate uprooted their kids during the summer of 2022 to get out of the “goldfish bowl” of London to create more privacy for their kids – but still use it as their official offices.
Royal biographer and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, Ingrid Seward, told Fabulous: “Kensington Palace is a glorious prison for kids – they want to be able to play football without being watched from behind the gates.”
Kensington Palace has been hailed as an “upmarket housing estate for the British Royal Family”, as there are a number of other royal residents there living side-by-side.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank

The royal couple moved into Nottingham Cottage, the former home of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, in 2022, after previously living in Ivy Cottage on the grounds.
Currently the family split their time between London and Portugal, where they reside at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club as Jack is doing marketing, sales and promotion for a property development out there.
Princess Eugenie revealed the lengths she has to go to get a food delivery at the cosy 1,300 square-foot Nottingham Cottage, and it involves going outside in her pyjamas.
The royal appeared on the food-themed Table Manners podcast which is presented by Jessie Ware and her mum Lennie.

Eugenie, who is mum to August and Ernest, answered: “You ring down and we say ‘there’s a Deliveroo coming’ and then we’ll get in our pyjamas and drive down and pick it up.”
Lennie was shocked at the effort, and asked: “They won’t bring it to you?”
Eugenie said: “No, we could walk but I don’t want to be in my pyjamas outside.”
Duke and Duchess of Gloucester
Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester and wife Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, live in the Old Stables at Kensington Palace[/caption]The late Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Gloucester, and his wife Birgitte van Deurs currently live in Kensington Palace’s Old Stables.
They moved into the property in 2019 following it being extensively renovated, which cost the taxpayer £1million, according to the Daily Mail.
Previously they had lived in the 21-room Apartment 1, which was next to William and Kate’s Apartment 1A.
Duke and Duchess of Kent
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Katharine, Duchess of Kent reside at the five-bed Wren House in the grounds[/caption]Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, another first cousin of the Queen, lives nearby with wife Katherine Worsley at Wren House.
They have called the five-bedroom home – which is a cottage-style property with a white picket fence – since they tied the knot in 1961.
It was previously used as staff accommodation, and was named after Sir Christopher Wren.
Prince and Princess Michael of Kent

They have resided at Apartment 10 for over 40 years, and previously caused uproar in 2002 when it was revealed they had been forking out just £69 a week for the five-bedroom apartment.
They were criticised for being paid for by the taxpayer despite not being working royal family members.
From 2010, they were asked to pay £120,000 a year for the pad.
Who owns Kensington Palace?
TECHNICALLY King Charles owns Kensington Palace on behalf of the nation and upkeep costs are paid for by the Sovereign Grant.
The royal residences are off-limits to the public and closed off, but tourists can go inside the opulent building and explore the King’s State Apartments and the Queen’s State Apartments.
Around 50 residents live in total at Kensington Palace, with the majority of this number being made up of staff, ex-military members and courtiers.
Jennie told OK: “Kensington Palace is a funny old place. Obviously it’s pretty grand, but living there must be rather like living in an extremely posh apartment block.
“You’re never far from your neighbours and there’s not really that much privacy.”
