I found a gorgeous full-length sequin gown on Shein – it looks just like a designer brand but is £80 cheaper

A SHOPPER has raved about finding a glittering gown on Shein which looks like a dupe for a designer alternative – but £80 cheaper.

Fashionista Carolina Piazentin showed off the dazzling dress from the budget retailer, which was covered in embellished detailing.

On her @carolina.piazentin account, she wrote: “SHEIN Haul – 5 days 5 dresses. Code 32769445.”

The nude-coloured dress had thin straps and fell to just above her ankles.

Perfect for glam events, the figure-hugging dress looked ideal for party season, and set her back £42.

A number of viewers were quick to comment saying that they noticed the resemblance to a dress sold by Oh Polly.

Their Antonella dress – which comes in four colours – and features sparkly shapes on the sheer material.

The main difference between the two gorgeous dresses is the price tag, with Shein’s similar-looking dress being £80 cheaper.

The Oh Polly evening gown currently costs £120, but has a five-star rating with shoppers.

Many people were impressed at the Shein find, with one commenting “oh wow”, and another writing “beautiful.”

One fashion lover said: “Perfection.”

Meanwhile, one added: “I don’t have the right body type for this dress but it is absolutely stunning on you!”

Her video has racked up over half a million views and 11,000 likes, so seems to be a hit with social media users.

The Oh Polly version’s description reads: “Glittering evenings.

“A premium design crafted by our team of in-house ateliers, Antonella is an effortlessly glamorous gown cut from sheer, stretch mesh fabric and hand embellished with delicate artisanal crystal hotfix.

“Complete with a soft scoop neckline and delicate shoulder straps.”

As well as almond, you can also pick it up in emerald, mocha and cocoa.

It is also stocked in sizes four to 18, while the Shein alternative comes from size six to 16.

What is Shein and is it legit?

Shein is an online-only fast-fashion retailer, based out of China, that has become a number one shopping destination for many around the world.

The company was valued at $66billion in 2023, dwarfing that of popular high street brands Zara and H&M.

The fashion retailer was founded in late 2008, by entrepreneur and marketing specialist Xu Yangtian, also known as Chris Xu.

Shein is a legitimate selling website and is not a phishing scam.

But you may receive a disappointing order or run into shipping issues if you order from the site, according to reviews.

There have been swathes of quality complaints, which makes sense when looking at the price tag.

How to save money on your food shop

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save hundreds of pounds a year:

Odd boxes – plenty of retailers offer slightly misshapen fruit and veg or surplus food at a discounted price.

Lidl sells five kilos of fruit and veg for just £1.50 through its Waste Not scheme while Aldi shoppers can get Too Good to Go bags which contain £10 worth of all kinds of products for £3.30.

Sainsbury’s also sells £2 “Taste Me, Don’t Waste Me” fruit and veg boxes to help shoppers reduced food waste and save cash.

Food waste apps – food waste apps work by helping shops, cafes, restaurants and other businesses shift stock that is due to go out of date and passing it on to members of the public.

Some of the most notable ones include Too Good to Go and Olio.

Too Good to Go’s app is free to sign up to and is used by millions of people across the UK, letting users buy food at a discount.

Olio works similarly, except users can collect both food and other household items for free from neighbours and businesses.

Yellow sticker bargains – yellow sticker bargains, sometimes orange and red in certain supermarkets, are a great way of getting food on the cheap.

But what time to head out to get the best deals varies depending on the retailer. You can see the best times for each supermarket here.

Super cheap bargains – sign up to bargain hunter Facebook groups like Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK where shoppers regularly post hauls they’ve found on the cheap, including food finds.

“Downshift” – you will almost always save money going for a supermarket’s own-brand economy lines rather than premium brands.

The move to lower-tier ranges, also known as “downshifting” and hailed by consumer expert Martin Lewis, could save you hundreds of pounds a year on your food shop.

See what’s on Tesco’s shelves this Christmas including pigs in blankets stuffing.

Plus you can pick up items from posh shop Fortnum and Mason from just £3.50.

Girl, 14, in court charged with stabbing two teachers and pupil in school playground rampage

A TEEN girl has appeared in court charged with stabbing two teachers and a pupil in a school playground horror attack.

The rampage unfolded at Amman Valley School, also known as Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, in Carmarthenshire, in April.

A 14-year-old girl appeared at Swansea Crown Court today charged with three counts of attempted murder, which she denies.

The teen, who legally can’t be named, has admitted three counts of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article on a school premises.

A two week trial is due to begin at the same court on September 30.

The girl, who was aged 13 at the time, was remanded into secure youth detention accommodation.

Pupils were kept in classrooms during a “code red” lockdown after teachers Fiona Elias and Liz Hopkin were knifed.

A girl was also injured in the frenzy, which saw police swarm the school.

The rampage came to an end when hero teacher Darrell Campbell “wrestled the knife” out of the teen girl’s grip.

Mrs Hopkin, 53, who works with special needs students, was stabbed four times.

While drama and Welsh teacher Ms Elias, who is head of year, was rushed to hospital after being knifed in the neck.

All three victims have now been discharged from hospital after suffering non life-threatening injuries.

‘What a rip off’, shoppers fume as shock photo reveals Christmas chocolate favourite is getting SMALLER every year

A FESTIVE favourite loved by households across the nation has caused a stir online after appearing to shrink in size again.

Glenn Kennedy from Manchester runs a Facebook page where he and group members share the latest supermarket deals.

Shoppers are furious about the smaller size[/caption]

With Christmas 100 days away, he shared an image of one of the holiday’s most popular treats, Celebrations, to show how it has allegedly shrunk in size over the years.

An image shows three tubs on a kitchen table with a significant reduction in size between them.

The difference has left shoppers furious, with the tubs being labelled a “rip-off”.

Some are even calling for a boycott and are urging others to “stop buying them”.

Celebrations don’t appear to be the only item that has shrunk – Roses and Heroes also seem to have reduced in size.

“More plastic than chocolate,” commented Judith

Stella said: “I’ve stopped buying them as I’m getting only half of the tin for the same price. I buy bars of chocolate instead. Better value for the money.”

“Boycott them and don’t buy then they’ll be giving them away in January,” another person added.

Sue wrote: “Yes, just don’t buy them, it’s crazy.”

“What a rip-off,” penned Julie.

Glenn also shared an image of Christmas cakes lining the shelves in Morrisons.

This also outraged shoppers, with many saying that it’s only September and far too early for these sorts of items to appear in stores.

It has been reported that tubs of chocolates started appearing in shops as early as July this year.

With Halloween and Bonfire Night still ahead, many feel that it is simply not the right time to be selling Christmas treats.

“Really. Absolutely ridiculous.” wrote John

Antony said: “Ban Christmas stuff until December.”

“Yes, I saw it all last week. Too early” Patricia added.

“Far too early,” Lorraine commented.

However, not everyone was opposed to an early holiday shop.

Jenny wrote: “People are moaning about Christmas stuff in shops already, well you’ve only got three wage packets left, four if you get paid before the 25th, so glad my shopping is all done.”

Celebrations were first launched by Mars Wrigley back in 1997.

But the changes that have been made to them over the past few years have not gone unnoticed.

The tins shrunk by 38 per cent between 2008 and 2023.

This means that in just 15 years, the Christmas staple has gone from 975g to 600g.

And it now appears to have been reduced a third time – weighing 550g.

A spokesperson for Mars said: “We have been actively trying to find ways to absorb the rising costs of raw materials and operations, as we know the increase in the cost of living has impacted both consumers and businesses across the UK.

“Unfortunately, the growing pressures mean that more needs to be done.

“Reducing the size of our products is not a decision we have taken lightly but it is necessary for shoppers to still be able to enjoy their favourite Celebrations treats without compromising on quality or taste.

“The tub itself has also reduced in order to reduce the plastic used in the packaging by 17% to help us meet our sustainability targets as a business.”

It comes after Sainsbury’s shoppers were stunned after spotting an iconic Christmas food which had already landed on shelves.

And Christmas fams can’t get enough of festive McVitie’s biscuits based on a classic bakery treat.
