I’m a teacher & parents are furious I won’t let their kids use the toilet during class – they’re raising entitled kids

A PRIMARY school teacher has revealed the real reasons why she refuses to let children go to the bathroom in class – and it’s sent parents fuming.

The UK-based teacher who goes by Home Learning Haven online shared why she puts the rule in place and why parents have to stop complaining about it.

She hoped to get parents onboard with her reasoning – but it seemed to do the exact opposite[/caption]

Taking to social media, she said: “I’m just sitting here my lunch break, marking books, and I’m just thinking about the whole, the problem that parents have with teachers not letting their kids go to the toilet.

“And today I had about three examples of a time where I did not let the children go to the toilet.”

She hoped that by sharing the reasons parents would stop complaining about the situation – but many parents were still upset with the rule.

The teacher said the first reason was because she started a pair activity with the kids where they read to each other but one wanted to go to the toilet during the task.

The teacher told them no as it would make the activity futile for both the child and it’s partner.

Next, the teacher refused one child going to the toilet as she was in the middle of explaining their maths activity to them.

She said: “No, because if you now go to the toilet, when you come back, I’m gonna have to explain the activity again to you.”

The teacher admitted that she does let children go the bathroom, but in scenarios like this asks them to wait just a few minutes so they hear her instructions.

Last but not least she revealed she would ask a child to wait if they had just got back from break time.

Of course, the teacher would just be starting the lesson and giving the children vital information for it at this point that she didn’t want them to miss.

She concluded: “So there will be times that I, as a teacher, will tell your child, not right now, you can’t go to the toilet.

“And I think parents have their back up and seem to think that we just wanna deprive your child of their human rights.

“It’s not that. We’re humans as well. And most teachers actually care about kids, and that’s why they’re in the job in the first place.”

“If you want your child to receive special treatment, mainstream state school probably isn’t the place to be sending them, some parents really are setting their kids up for failure in real life with all this pampering and entitlement,” she captioned the post.

School Rules + Laws in the UK

The clip posted on social media went viral on her TikTok account @homelearninghaven with over 700k views and 20k likes.

Parents were quick to share their thoughts in the comments – and many seemed unswayed by the teacher’s reasoning.

One person wrote: “honestly I don’t know how you deal with parents nowadays it must be exhausting!”

Another commented: “None of the 4 reasons are valid enough.”

“Toilet should be allowed whenever they need it,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Nope, sorry, they should always be allowed to go when they ask.”

“I’ll be honest I told my son if he needs to go toilet and gets told no I as his mother give him permission to walk out of his class,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “If you need the toilet that’s all you will concentrate on.. so the child won’t actually be taking in the information and it’s likely it will need repeating anyway?”

I have bamboo for privacy in my overlooked garden but now it’s invaded my neighbour’s decking – it’s a total nightmare

A BRIT has revealed her bamboo “nightmare” after a neighbour has insisted she pour diesel over her plants.

The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, has found that her privacy bamboo fence has started spreading underground and ripping up her neighbours decking.

She has the plants in her garden to give some privacy to her “overlooked” garden.

Bamboo can be a problematic choice for British gardens due to its often aggressive growth habits.

Once established, it can take over large areas of a garden by growing quickly and being extremely difficult to remove.

In our wet British climate, bamboo thrives and can spread into unwanted areas like lawns or neighbouring gardens.

That’s the exact problem one green-fingered Brit is facing.

“I’m having massive issues with my neighbours,” she said.

“My bamboo is spreading under the fence into her garden underneath their new decking.

“We have the bamboo for privacy as the garden is so overlooked.

“She has told me I need to remove all of it, dig it out and pour diesel over it.”

The fast-growing underground stems of bamboo can cause damage to garden structures, fences, patios and even drainage systems.

It is notoriously difficult to contain and remove due to this.

Removing bamboo once it has spread requires digging out deep roots, which can be very costly and even ruin other parts of your garden.

The worried Brit took to Facebook in search of advice to fix her problem – and the responses were far from ideal.

“You messed up big time,” one person warned.

The Most Invasive Plants in the UK

Several non-native species have been introduced to the UK over the years. These are the most problematic plants to look out for in your garden.

Japanese Knotweed

It is an offence against the 1981 Wildlife & Countryside Act to grow Japanese Knotweed.

It might not be poisonous, it is extremely fast-growing and can seriously damage buildings, paving and structures.

Giant Hogweed

It might look rather attractive, but Giant Hogweed can be pretty dangerous.

The plant’s sap is toxic and can cause burns or blisters if it comes into contact with the skin.

Himalayan Balsam

Himalayan Balsam is another plant you need to keep your eyes on.

It produces an array of pretty pink flowers, but one plant is said to be able to spread 2,500 seeds, that are “launched” over a distance of seven metres.

And like other invasive plants, Himalayan Balsam wipes out other plants, growing up to three metres high, drawing out sunlight for smaller plants.

New Zealand Pigmyweed

New Zealand Pigmyweed is an aquatic plant that can cause havoc in still water, such as lakes and ponds or even slow moving water, such as canals.

It also impacts animals, such as frogs, fish and newts, as it can form a dense mat on the water’s surface, therefore starving the water of oxygen.

Rhododendron

An incredibly beautiful plant, loved my many gardeners, but the Rhododendron is technically classed as an invasive specie due to its rapid growth in woodlands.

Unlike other invasive species mentioned on this list, it’s not recommended to completely remove or kill Rhododendrons but instead take extra care to manage their growth, trimming and pruning them regularly.

“The wrong kind of bamboo, unrestrained, will run riot, and that’s what’s happened here,” a second gardening whizz explained.

“It will be a long process to deal with that.

“Note for next time to get the clumping variety.

“And, to be extra safe, get it in really strong containers that the roots can’t break through.”

Celebs Go Dating has NEVER been about finding love – that’s what MAFS is for, says Anna Williamson

CELEBS Go Dating expert Anna Williamson has revealed her pet hate when it comes to a certain criticism of the E4 reality show.

For five years professional psychotherapist and life coach Anna, 43, has worked with celebrities to improve their dating game and how they handle themselves in romantic situations – often after they’ve experienced some form of heartache.

The series 12 finale will air on Thursday night[/caption]

The outcome of each series has rarely resulted in lasting love, but that is not its purpose, Anna insists.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun ahead of this week’s finale, she says nurturing a serious relationship is merely a bonus when it comes to the programme’s objectives.

She says: “Well, let’s just say that this is probably one of our most successful series.

“Now, one thing that always annoys me when people say this, they go, ‘why don’t people ever get together or stay married?’ And I’m like, ‘dude, there’s a clue in the title, Celebs Go Dating. It is not Celebs Go Married’.

Married at First Sight is our sister show. There’s a show that does that, does the marriage stuff.

“Ours is all about celebrity dating, learning to date better, learning to learn about themselves, what they’ve done wrong in the past, where they want to head in the future.”

With that said, the emergence of a new loved-up couple is never a bad thing and Anna teases that at least one will be revealed come Thursday night.

She continues: “Always the icing on top of the cake is if we manage to do all of that inner work to get them to a point where they have found someone that they truly like and that truly likes them back.

“At the end of this series, I think they’ve got the cherry. I’d say everyone loves a happy ending, and we’ve got a happy ending.”

Anna then hinted Ella Morgan, the show’s first ever transgender star, will leave the agency with a partner.

Married At First Sight star Ella has been linked to actor and model Bobby Brazier in recent months after flirty displays at major events like the National Television Awards, but Anna quashed rumours by saying: “I think Ella’s got other focuses that she’s focusing on right now. And I think that will become quite clear.”

Mum-of-two Anna is never anything but approachable and fair, however there are times in a series when she needs to have difficult conversations with the celebrities for their own good and development.

With 15 years experience as a trained therapist, more than two decades in the TV business as a presenter and six years as the co-host of the hugely successful LuAnna podcast with Luisa Zissman, she has all the tools she needs to communicate effectively.

TOUGH LOVE

“No one ever wants to upset anybody, says Anna. “But at the same time, I think my comfort with doing that has come with age.

“I turned 43 recently. I’ve been practicing in the world of talking therapy since 2009. I have so many different clients and different experiences under my belt that I’ve learned my own style in what results I have seen work in the past.

“I’m not here to make friends, but I am here to gain a trusting, empathic rapport with my clients. And that is something I work very hard on, that I gain their trust.

Anna teased Ella Morgan has found Mr Right through the show[/caption]

“To make it very clear, I’m not here to fluff around and people please them, they can find other people in their lives to do that for them. I’m here to reflect back what I see and what I hear, as I see and hear it, and offer a bit of counsel, should they be open to hearing it.”

Because of this direct approach there are times when some consoling needs to be done once the cameras stop rolling.

And she’s always there for a follow up call should the celebs need it.

Anna says: “As soon as we finish that scene, I say scene it is real life, we call it a scene, I always go outside and check in, ‘how are you? Are you okay? You left with anything?’

“And then we will always do a follow up message later in that day to remind them that I’m on their side always. And I really am always on their side.”

Celebs Go Dating, Monday to Thursday each week at 9pm on E4.
