SEASONAL shoppers have been left stunned at the price of festive chocolate in Asda and Poundland.
Supermarket deal finder Glenn Kennedy, who regularly updates his bargain hunter Facebook group, was shocked when he came across the chocolate aisle in these retailers.
As Glenn scouted for deals, he stumbled across a choccy horror in Asda that he immediately shared with his page.
For five miniature chocolates, including a Chomp, Freddo, Fudge, Curly Wurly, and a mini bag of Cadbury Buttons, you were asked to fork out £3.50.
A horrified Glenn quickly took to social media writing: “This has got to be a mistake. £3.50 for 78g of Cadbury chocolate. It’s clear on the price ticket.”
With the bars priced at 30p on the website, totting up for £1.20 for four chocolates plus the Cadbury buttons, his followers were left utterly baffled.
One user commented: “Nobody in their right mind is going to fork out £3.50 for a mere 78g.”
Another added: “Oh my God. I’d rather buy a bar of chocolate than that. You are paying for the packaging.”
Thankfully, the frantic shoppers were right to be concerned as after contacting Asda, it appeared the item had been priced incorrectly – with the correct price standing at £1.20.
This isn’t the first time time retailers have confused customers, with Tesco rationing its Chocolate tubs earlier this month at 10 per person.
Despite being months from Christmas, shoppers were given a strict 10 tub limit – leaving many bemused by the UK’s largest supermarket chain.
Outraged customers are also outraged at the year-by-year comparison of some of the selection boxes.
Celebrations have been accused of shrinking in size over the years, with shoppers even calling to boycott the tubs.
Despite being on sale, the seasonal treats in Poundland weren’t exactly a Christmas miracle either.
The Mancunion posted the prices of a range of chocolate, including Malteasers, Haribo and Terry’s Chocolate Orange, showing only two of the 21 items costing a pound.
This had Facebook users aghast, with many questioning if the name of the store still stands.
One user wrote: “Just one question: why is this shop still called Poundland when most of their products are £1.50 upwards. Not as good as it used to be.”
Another added: “Only 2 things on all those shelves that are a pound.”
A third commented: “Popped in to Poundland for the first time in ages last week. Won’t be going again, it’s got so expensive. Better deals elsewhere.”
With 19 of the 21 confectionary priced at over £1 in Poundland, many Facebook users were left with a bitter taste in their mouth instead of a sweet one.
One savvy shopper even suggested the chocolate will soon be reduced to trick customers into thinking they’re getting a bargain.
A spokesperson for Poundland told Jam Press: “Bah Humbug – that’s just one small display with some of our best savings versus prices elsewhere.
“There are almost 50 Xmas items at £1 or below in our full Xmas confectionery range plus a market-leading 2 for £2.50 on 15 different kinds of tubes.”
“That’s why Santa’s going to be filling his boots this year at Poundland.”

Based in Cheltenham, she offers anti-wrinkle treatments, vitamin b12, lash extensions and fat dissolving.
Six weeks ago Summer moved into her own home with her pet chihuahua Cookie. She gave fans a glimpse inside the kitchen as she settled in with a bottle of champagne.
A source previously told us how Summer had been keen to swap modelling for a new career.

LAURYN Goodman’s mum has made a savage dig at Kyle Walker during last night’s Celebs Go Dating.
The 33-year-old is currently hoping to find love on the E4’s reality show after her messy legal battle with the married footballer, 34.
She’s been candid with viewers about how the ordeal’s affected her confidence, and now her mum’s waded in with a very telling comment.
During a scene in which they discussed Lauryn’s latest date, the influencer revealed that she had plans to see him again.
She reflected on feeling shy around him initially, confessing: “I think I’ve just been knocked and stuff, I was a lot quieter in the beginning than I am now.”

This week, Lauryn also revealed in full the text she sent Kyle’s wife Annie in December last year, informing her Kyle was also the father of her second child.
It read: “Hey it’s lauryn I just wanted to quickly tell you that Kyle is the father of our daughter. He’s been having a relationship with us all including the baby & Ive got everything to prove it.
“He’s been apart of our lives seeing the children. Il wanted to have the decency to tell you. If you want to speak further we can but he’s been lying to us both. He doesn’t want us to speak.
“He’ll gaslight you saying why hasn’t she put it out there knowing we have a legal agreement atm. He’ll probably say l’m a nutter or obsessed to get you to believe him.
“All his boys have known from the start, so don’t trust them. I’m sorry. I’ve got to go to protect myself legally if you need to speak again to see evidence etc unblock me on insta so I know to call you.

Lauryn and footballer Kyle have hit headlines over the years with their very public feud.

OLEKSANDR USYK sent shockwaves throughout the boxing world on Tuesday night after he was DETAINED by uniformed officers in Poland.
The incident took place at Krakow Airport and saw Usyk being led away in handcuffs while he was trying to board a flight.
Usyk is the undisputed heavyweight world champion and has previously beaten Britain’s two superstar heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
The Ukrainian is set to rematch Fury in December in Saudi Arabia. But his detainment could’ve put a spanner in the works.
The 37-year-old, however, was later releassed after the matter was deemed to be a misunderstanding.
According to ESPN, Usyk was boarding a flight from Poland’s capital to Valencia, Spain, where he is to begin camp for his December 21 rematch with Fury.
But Usyk was put in cuffs after an airline official determined the champion boxer and his trainer Sergey Lapin were not fit to travel.
It’s being reported that Usyk explained he and his trainer were fit to fly and that they were exhausted from an apparent 557-mile drive and 14 hours of travelling from Kiev.
Usyk’s wife Katheryna was travelling with her husband and quickly assured everyone on social media that the matter was ‘nothing criminal’.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky also got involved and secured Usyk’s release.
“I was disappointed by this attitude towards our citizen and champion,” Zelensky wrote online alongside a picture of Usyk with a Ukrainian official.
“I instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, to immediately look into all the details of the incident at Krakow airport.
“Now, everything is fine, our champion has been released, and he is no longer being detained.”
Usyk wrote on social media: “A misunderstanding took place.
“It was quickly resolved. Thanks to all who got concerned. Thanks to Ukrainian diplomats for the efficient support. And respect to Polish Police for conducting their obligations with no regards to height, weight, reach and regalia.”
LUCY Beaumont joked about a divorce from Jon Richardson a YEAR before the couple revealed that they had split.
The actress, 40, made the remark during an appearance on Channel 4′s Eight Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown in 2023.
Host Jimmy Carr introduced team captain Jon to viewers and then his team, which consisted of wife Lucy.
Jimmy brutally said: “Lucy and Jon are married.
“So I know Lucy, everyone watching at home is dying to know… What made you decide to settle?”
Lucy joked: “I don’t see this for life.”
She added: “Isn’t it a song – just passing through? Is it?”
Jimmy questioned: “Just passing through?”
She continued: “You meet in your life old souls, new souls… A***holes.”
The funny woman then pointed out that they’d “had a lovely life together”, and joked she’d never had an avocado before meeting Jon.
Lucy said: “Who knows what will happen in the future.”
Jon then chimed in: “Are you breaking up now?”
The two revealed that they had split after nine years of marriage back in April.
In a statement, they said: “After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.
“As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being.
“We will be making no further comment.”
Yesterday it was reported that Jon has agreed an eye-watering seven-figure payout to Lucy.
Over the years Jon and Lucy have appeared in a number of TV shows.
Their own Dave programme Meet The Richardsons premiered in 2016 and there have been five successful series.
Last year Lucy opened up about what it was like working with her partner.
She previously said: “‘We like working together and enjoy Meet The Richardsons and we really wanted to make something that people could relate to.
“Meet The Richardsons is basically an excuse for us to channel tensions into comedy and you see that in the studio, someone might start saying something thinking they’re going to land a blow but as soon as us and the audience start laughing at them, they realise it’s all nonsense.”

A BRIDE has left people raging after showing how she turned her grandma’s vintage wedding dress into a “Shein two-piece”.
Brittany shared a video of herself greeting her grandmother as she walked into her wedding rehearsal.
The TikTok clip showed the older woman gasping in astonishment and shouting “Oh my God!” as she saw her granddaughter’s transformation.
She then burst into tears and pulled Brittany in for a tight hug in the church.
Brittany then shared pictures of how the dress had originally looked on her grandmother – a white, puff sleeved, sweetheart neckline fitted pencil-style dress with a huge train.
She had teamed the dress with elbow-length gloves and a puffy veil, along with a pearl necklace and beaming smile.
But changing up the dress for her wedding rehearsal, Brittany chose to have it made into a two-piece outfit.
The top featured the same puffy sleeves and sweetheart neckline, but was made into a cropped top.
And the bottom was turned into a matching miniskirt.
As an extra nod to her grandmother, Brittany wore a pearl bracelet on her wrist, and finished it off with a pair of white open-toe heels.
“3rd generation wedding dress turned into a rehearsal dress,” she captioned the TikTok.
But lots of people in the comments were unimpressed by the transformation.
“Turned it into a Shein two piece,” one wrote.
“My mum would get so mad if I cut her dress,” another added.
“I would be crying too, she chopped up her dress,” a third commented.
