Sven Goran Eriksson has been robbed of his dying wish – after officials banned the ex-England manager’s ashes from being scattered at his favourite beauty spot.

Swede Eriksson passed away aged 76 on August 26 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

His funeral took place last Friday in home town Torsby, attended by a host of celebrities including David Beckham and Eriksson’s former partner Nancy Dell’Olio.

The much-travelled coach remained attached to his home region, and recently told a documentary that he wanted to have his ashes scattered in Lake Fryken.

Eriksson said: “It’s a beautiful place. It makes you calm, it makes me calm.

“My father grew up below the mountain. If you look straight ahead there is Torsby where I grew up, and in the other direction is Sunne where I was born.

“I have always thought it was a good place to sleep.

“My ashes can be thrown into the water here. It feels like home.”

However local council officials have quashed Eriksson’s dream by forbidding his family from casting his remains into the picturesque lake.

The urn containing his ashes will instead be buried at a secret location.

Eriksson’s agent Bo Gustavsson said: “We have not been allowed to scatter his ashes in Lake Fryken.”

The ex-manager’s lawyer pal Anders Runebjer added: “We have withdrawn our application to scatter his ashes. They will be buried in an urn instead.”

Lake Fryken, in Varmland county, lies around 185 miles west of Swedish capital Stockholm.

Eriksson ended a five-year spell as Three Lions boss in 2006.

He managed Manchester City, Leicester and a string of leading European sides including Benfica, Roma and Lazio.

MARRIED At First Sight is back and it’s already packed full of drama.

The hit E4 reality series may have some viewers wondering if the contestants get paid for appearing on the show.

How much do Married at First Sight contestants get paid?

Married At First Sight producers have not revealed if their contestants are paid a salary.

However, Nasser Sultan, who appeared in season five of Married at First Sight Australia, revealed how much he got paid in compensation for being away from work and home.

He told nowtolove.com: “You get $150 for the day, that’s it.

“But on top of that, you have to pay expenses – your living expenses with the woman that you marry.”

He added: “It’s not $150 clear. You still have to pay rent if you’re renting, you’ve gotta pay your rego and it’s 12 hour filming days.”

As $150 is around £78, this could be an estimate of what UK contestants are paid while filming.

So if the cast were to get paid for five days of work a week it would work out to them earning around £1580 a month.

Another previous MAFS contestant Clark Sherwood, has spoken out about the money situation, saying: “There’s no financial gain from going on the show”.

Mikey Pembroke, who appeared in the 2020 series, claimed that those who go on the show “don’t get paid at all”.

Speaking on the I’ve Got News For You podcast, he said: “You don’t get paid at all – this is a thing that needs to change.

“But the show makes an incredible amount of money. And say you were on, you know, a TV show that does really well, the actors get paid more and more because it’s doing so well.

“And that’s the way it should be for MAFS.”

Is there a prize for staying married?

There is no prize for finding love on MAFS.

However, if you stay married you have “won” the chance to be in love which is the aim of the show.

There is also no winner on MAFS.

Do Married at First Sight couples sign prenups?

Prenups cannot be issued when taking part in MAFS.

This is because each couple’s marriage isn’t technically real or legal.

They say vows, and exchange rings, but they aren’t really married.

If they decide to “stay married” they will then enter into a full time relationship.

The couple can then decide if they want to get married for real in their own lives, usually away from filming.

One MAFS pair who did this for real was Cam and Jules from the popular Aussie version of the show.

Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton also revealed in June 2024 that they were engaged.

How can I watch MAFS?

MAFS 2024 started on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 9pm.

There will be 36 episodes in total, aired over six weeks.

THEY seemed like love’s young dream after being paired together on Married At First Sight last year.

Erica Roberts and Jordan Gayle met on the E4 show – on their wedding day – and were hailed as a success stories, staying together for 11 months and constantly posting loved up pictures on Instagram once the series ended.

Jordan has hit back at Erica’s claims about a lot of “red flags”[/caption]

But after announcing their split in February, the MAFS couple couldn’t be further from amicable.

Yesterday, Erica told The Sun how she dumped Jordan after constant rows with one specific fight over his birthday celebrations acting as the final straw.

She claimed there were “a lot of red flags” throughout their relationship, and alarm bells started ringing for her as early as the wedding day.

“The warning signs were there from day one,” she said.

Erica also said she and Jordan had an unaired argument on the last night of their honeymoon in Antigua, during which Jordan “had an absolute meltdown”.

‘Bitter’ ex

But now, Jordan has hit back in an exclusive interview, calling his ex “bitter,” and telling us her comments make him question their whole relationship.

“I feel like people who followed our story will look at these comments and think this doesn’t make sense,” he says. “If there’s red flags from the honeymoon, then why the hell, on social media, were we looking the way we was? 

“It doesn’t make any sense. 

“If you’re seeing red flags from someone on a honeymoon after you’ve only known them for a week, then what are you doing with them 11 months after, if it’s apparently so bad? 

“To me, it’s looking at it through a very bitter place and I don’t need to look at it in a bitter way. 

“I’m happy with the time I had. I don’t regret anything. 

“Obviously, there’s good memories and I wouldn’t change that. 

“I don’t get it. I honestly don’t get it. 

“I don’t get where all this anger and bitterness has come from.”

‘Such a bad look for her’

Erica said part of the reason she stayed with Jordan for so long was due to pressure from MAFS fans.

She said: “You have all these people being like, ‘Oh, my God, we love you guys and you’re amazing. We want you to work.’ 

“I think obviously that that did have a factor in it, like you do want to make it work, and not just for yourself, but for people that watch the show.”

And Jordan was shocked by these comments.

“It’s such a bad look for her,” he says. “I couldn’t care less anymore, but obviously, closer to the time, I was like, was it just a game? 

“If that’s the case, it just sounds like it’s a game. 

“When I hear this stuff it just blows my mind because it’s disappointing for someone to actually have that kind of mentality. 

“Obviously, it was just a waste of time. But I don’t regret the way I was. 

“Honestly, my mind is blown. I shouldn’t be surprised.”

‘Refreshing’ new girlfriend

Jordan has since moved on from Erica with Melissa Golik, an emergency nurse from Australia, who he met through Instagram.

And he believes what he went through with Erica has made him more certain that Melissa, who moonlights as a DJ, is the right person for him, due to her being “genuine” and out of the public eye.

He said: “[My new relationship is] so refreshing. 

“What I’d say about MAFS is that I learned everything I did want and what I don’t want in a life partner and going forward, so just for my life as well. 

Comments like that make you think, ‘God, you could be with someone for so long and actually really not know them.’

“I don’t need the glitz and glamour enough to fake it. 

“Some people aren’t being themselves because they think it’s going to bring them fame or attention or whatever, and people might be disingenuous, but I want to live a genuine lifestyle around genuine people.

“And I’ve definitely got a girl that’s really genuine, really nice, so, yeah, I’m happy. 

“It’s restored my faith in girls.

“After going through what you go through on MAFS, then the public break up and comments like that, that make you think, ‘God, you could be with someone for so long and actually really not know them’ or they just completely change.

“You’d think it would take a lot for me to have my faith restored but I’m just happy that I’ve genuinely found that. 

“It makes it almost sweeter.”

Swapping fame for ‘normal’ career

He’s now focusing on a more “normal” career, working on the railway tracks[/caption]

As well as a girlfriend who’s more removed from the showbiz world, Jordan is also embarking on a new career away from telly too, working on the overhead lines on train tracks.

“I’m actually starting a new career working in the rail industry,” he tells us. “A couple of my mates, one’s a train driver and one is a train engineer and they’ve gone on for years about how I should get into this industry because it’s really good money, they look after you well and you get a good life to work ratio.

“So I’m actually doing my qualifications for that at the moment, and then will start working in October.”

He continues: “I think the most important thing for me now is just living a more settled life. 

“The last two years have been crazy. Before I filmed MAFS. I was in LA, then I came back, then I filmed MAFS. 

“Since then, after the show, you’re travelling here, there and everywhere, going to events and stuff like that.

“Whereas now, I’ve got a really nice girl,  I’m starting a new career that’s going to be long-term, good money and I’m looking to live a more set-up lifestyle now.”

In fact, Jordan wants to remove himself so much from the MAFS world, he won’t even be watching the new series that’s on TV right now.

He says: “It’s not PTSD but it’s just there’s a lot of baggage watching it and I just don’t want to.

“My experience was that when I was watching it, it was nothing like when I lived it, and it ruined it for me.

“Reality TV is just not reality.

“I just don’t have a good association with watching it. I just didn’t like what they chose to show.”

The crowd went wild as the ball rolled along the green before hitting its target.

And Murray, who retired from tennis this summer, delivered a trademark celebration as he pumped his fist in the air.

It eventually led to the Bernabeu crowd turning on him, as they perceived he prioritised the putting green over their football turf.

Bale even had a dig at Real’s expense with his famous “Wales, Golf, Madrid” motto.

The ace even has a golf course built into his garden at home and is sure to have been putting the work in ahead of today’s outing.

IT seems a bit of laughter can go a long way, just ask MAFS star Kieran Chapman.

The 28-year-old staged a black-humored prank at the altar before his wife-to-be, Kristina, 30 processed down the aisle, by donning a disgusting pair of false teeth.

Wearing a traditional white wedding dress and being accompanied by her dad up the aisle, Kristina’s face appeared to drop when she sees the protruding fangs as she says to herself, “What the f***.’

But it seems the pair were able to laugh it off as Newcastle-born Kieran has dropped a huge hint that they’re still together.

The mechanic shared a reel that showed the couple facetiming with their mothers as he wrote the caption: “Me and the wife facetiming with our mothers.”

Dog walker Kristina and Kieran were the first on the show to get married and though the failures of the format far outweigh the successes, no doubt the couple could be keen to emulate former MAFS alumni Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

The couple, who met on the programme in 2022, recently announced their engagement.

They shared on Instagram: “We’ve been keeping a little secret.

“A week ago the absolute love of my life asked me to marry her from me being a little slow on the uptake, thinking Zoe had just gone a little overboard for date night to Bobo setting himself on fire, it was perfect and chaotic and just very ‘us’.

“Not to be cliché but I genuinely didn’t think that this type of love actually existed, to have someone who loves you, cares and respects you as much as you do them, is the most incredible feeling.. and now I get to marry my best friend instead of a stranger!

“I guess we have a particular TV show to thank for setting us up on the wildest 1st date ever.. so thank you @e4mafsuk@e4grams.”
