Kelly shared: “[Production] would not help us at all.

“They are eating Brazilian BBQ in front of you and won’t give you anything.

“There was a hotel room which all the crew were using to shower and charge their phones and I hadn’t showered in three days and they wouldn’t give me the key.

“I was trying to bond with them to get them to help us but they weren’t having any of it.

“The only thing we managed to get off them was a coconut because I suggested it would be good for a shot.”

Meanwhile, the show’s format sees four celebrities – each partnered with a loved one – race to be the fastest across a region to the final destination.

The teams, however, must complete the trek without using air travel.

Altogether, there have been four civilian series and two celebrity editions of the show.

In tonight’s finale, the teams — which also include Jeff Brazier and son Freddy, Ted Lasso star Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen, and Radio 2’s Scott Mills and his now-husband Sam — will race to the last checkpoint in Frutillar, Chile.

The first episode saw them set off from Belem in Brazil.

It comes as the star opened up about her plans post-Celebrity Race Across the World.

She exclusively told The Sun: “I feel like I have already semi-retired. I am certainly not a bikini model any more and am not acting any more.

“I have been doing radio for the last five years and they say I have a face for radio these days.

“It’s not by choice — I think they retired me.”

Celeb Race Across the World: Series 2 cast and odds to win

The second edition of Celebrity Race Across the World has seen the cast undertake a gruelling South American trek. The stars who have taken part include.

Heading into the final leg, per Gambling.com, Jeff & Freddie Brazier are the 11/10 favourites to cross the finish line first and win the race.

Scott Mills and Sam Vaughan have odds of 6/4.

Meanwhile, Kelly Brook and Jeremy Parisi have odds of 13/8.

Kola Bokinni and Mary Ellen Moriarty have odds of 5/2.

Addressing her decision to sign up for the show, Kelly shared: “Race Across The World was a bit left-field.

“It wasn’t something I was pursuing to get back on TV, it was just an incredible experience.

“I have no interest in other reality TV shows and I have no ambition to be stuck in a jungle with a bunch of people I don’t like.”

Celebrity Race Across the World airs on BBC One and is available on iPlayer.

I’ve tried the iPhone 16 for a week and the battery life blew me away – but there’s a giant rival phone I love even more

IT’S hard to make a bad smartphone these days – and even harder if you’re Apple.

Most iPhone models aren’t exactly cheap, which has the upside of meaning they’re generally packed with the most high-end tech. Enter: the iPhone 16.

The iPhone 16 is finally here and The Sun’s Sean Keach has been testing it out[/caption]

Apple announced four new iPhone 16 models – including the iPhone 16 (left) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (right)[/caption]

Or rather, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I’ve been testing them since they were announced at Apple’s Glowtime event on September 9.

And I’ve got an easy favourite for two big reasons – but more on that later.

For now, let’s talk about the entry-level iPhone 16.

SWEET 16

It starts at £799 in the UK and $799 in the US and has a sensibly sized 6.1-inch screen.

Or you can pay an extra £100 / $100 and bag the Plus to get a more generous 6.7-inch panel.

It’s a bright and beautiful OLED display with Apple’s floating Dynamic Island at the top to show how far your Uber is away or album art for the song you’re listening to.

Immediately you’ll notice two big changes to the outside of the phone.

First up is a new Action Button that may be familiar if you watched last year’s Apple keynote.

It replaced the Mute Switch on the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023, and now it’s coming to the regular iPhone 16 too.

You can use it for muting the phone, sure.

But it’s reprogrammable so that you can have it do basically anything.

It can be as simple as turning your phone’s camera flash on or off, triggering Shazam to identify a song playing nearby, recording a voice memo, or even opening the Translate app – a great trick for when you’re on holiday.

SEAN’S IPHONE 16 REVIEW IN BRIEF

The full verdict is below, but here’s a quick look at how Sean Keach, The Sun’s Head of Technology and Science, got on with the new iPhone 16…

I’ve been trying out Apple’s new lot of iPhones.

There’s the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, and the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.

All of them get a new Camera Control button for quick access to clever snapping feature. Taking photos has never been easier.

And the regular iPhone 16s are upgraded with the Pro’s Action Button, which I’m using to identify songs with Shazam – but you might want to set it up to translate foreign languages, or just turn the torch on.

There are loads of new colours for both models. My favourite is Teal on the iPhone 16, and Desert Titanium on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Powerful new A18 processors make photos look better, and battery life gets huge gains. Video playback hits a whopping 33 hours on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. I can’t run it down.

That’s my favourite model, also in part thanks to its newly-giant 6.9-inch screen.

But I think the iPhone 16 is now so good that most people will get on just fine with it.

It’s probably not worth upgrading if you’ve bought a new iPhone in the last year or two – but consider buying this or a newly-discounted older or refurbished model if your current model is feeling a little long in the tooth. I can’t imagine you’ll regret it.

The second button is brand new this year, and lands on all four new iPhone models.

It’s called the Camera Control button, which gives away what it’s for.

Click it once to launch the camera, and then again to take a photo.

That’s not all: it’s pressure-sensitive, so a light press brings up a camera menu with features like zoom, focus, and photographic styles.

The teal colour option for the iPhone 16 is really beautiful – if you’re brave enough to leave it un-cased[/caption]

You can then scroll along with the button to easily switch between them.

It’s a great way to get you thinking about using these special features more, and hopefully turn you into a pro snapper.

If you’re holding your iPhone vertically then your thumb will rest perfectly on the Camera Control button.

And for horizontal snaps, you’ll need to arch your finger over a little.

This might feel a little weird at first, but it gives your finger a nice range of motion to actually use the button.

It means you can launch the camera, set up the shot, and take the image all with a single button.

Eventually Apple is adding a Visual Intelligence feature that involves holding down the Camera Control to tell you info about what you’re looking at – like the breed of a dog. But that’s not out yet, so stay tuned.

The other thing you’ll probably notice from a quick glance at the iPhone 16 is that it’s a pretty beautiful device.

The iPhone 16 cameras are now stacked vertically so you can capture 3D Spatial Videos[/caption]

Apple is shipping five colours: black, white, pink, ultramarine, and teal (which I’ve been using).

Honestly the colours are a big part of the fun, so I’d recommend avoiding just going for the black model.

But if you’re going to hide it in a case anyway then maybe it doesn’t matter.

To help you avoid having to use a case, there’s a new Ceramic Shield on the outside that’s supposed to be 50% tougher than the original version.

IPHONE 16 PRICES – HOW MUCH ARE YOU PAYING?

Here's what you need to know...

iPhone 16:

  • 128GB: £799 (UK) / $799 (US)
  • 256GB: £899 (UK) / $899 (US)
  • 512GB: £1,099 (UK) / $1,099 (US)

iPhone 16 Plus:

  • 128GB: £899 (UK) / $899 (US)
  • 256GB: £999 (UK) / $999 (US)
  • 512GB: £1,199 (UK) / $1,199 (US)

iPhone 16 Pro:

  • 128GB: £999 (UK) / $999 (US)
  • 256GB: £1,099 (UK) / $1,099 (US)
  • 512GB: £1,299 (UK) / $1,299 (US)
  • 1TB: £1,499 (UK) / $1,499 (US)

iPhone 16 Pro Max:

  • 256GB: £1,199 (UK) / $1,199 (US)
  • 512GB: £1,399 (UK) / $1,399 (US)
  • 1TB: £1,599 (UK) / $1,599 (US)

I haven’t thrown it at the ground yet – and probably won’t – but I trust that some wealthy maniac will do it and let us know how tough the iPhone really is.

What I will say is that I’ve been using iPhones for years and I’ve never broken a screen. I’ve probably jinxed it now. Whoops.

Anyway enough about the outside. What’s going on inside?

Well there’s a new A18 chip inside, which is designed in-house by Apple and is faster than the old one.

But the iPhone hasn’t really felt slow in a long while, so it’s hard to get a tangible feeling of how different it is.

Probably the most obvious improvement is the efficiency gain for battery life.

You’ll get 22 hours of video playback on the iPhone 16 versus 20 hours on the iPhone 15.

And the Plus is up an hour to 27 hours total.

a person is holding a phone that shows the time as 11:05

The new iOS 18 update lets you change the colour of app icons on your Home Screen[/caption]

Honestly I’ve not been able to run the iPhone 16 down in a single day.

And you could probably get two days of use out of it if you were really careful.

The chip also powers new AI features as well as the bulk of the Apple Intelligence goodness coming in a future iOS 18 update.

That means transcribing your voice notes, rewriting your texts, summarising your emails, and prioritising notifications.

Siri will also eventually offer more natural conversation plus integration with ChatGPT for complicated queries – but that’s not out yet, so I couldn’t test it.

Similarly you’ll be able to create original Genmoji emoji based on what you’re talking about, and even generate entire images from scratch. All coming in the future. I’ll let you know how I get on, once I get a chance to try it out.

What I can talk about is the camera.

Apple’s iPhone 16 has a great snapper with a new Ultra Wide lens for very cool macro photography.

Apple

And the cameras are now repositioned vertically so you can capture Spatial Videos in landscape mode.

They’re eerily lifelike 3D videos that you can rewatch inside Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

It’s not much use right now if you don’t have one. But it feels likely that Apple will eventually launch a cheaper headset that will allow you to step back into those memories without paying an arm and a leg.

Apple has also upgraded its Photographic Styles feature to better capture your skin undertones.

And you can use them to personalise how you look in photos.

It’s a neat trick, and means you should find yourself much happier with your selfies. Who doesn’t want that?

Finally, you’ll still be able to use Emergency SOS via Satellite to contact emergency services when you’re stuck without phone signal.

But you can also enjoy Messages via Satellite, for just texting your friends even when you can’t reach your regular network.

Screenshot
The new Camera Control feature lets you adjust photo settings and snap pictures all with a single button
Apple

It’ll only work outdoors, but it’s a fun little trick. If you’re ever at the top of a mountain, you’ll now properly be able to brag about it. Nice.

GOING PRO!

Now for the gadget connoisseur, there exists even better versions of the iPhone 16: the Pro and Pro Max.

Like the iPhone 16, you’ll enjoy the Action Button and new Camera Control button, and all the features I talked about above.

But there are a few key changes.

For a start, the screens are bigger. The Pro has a 6.3-inch display, and the Pro Max has a mammoth 6.9-inch panel that’s the biggest on any iPhone ever. It’s fantastically large and I love it.

If you have small hands then the Pro will likely be a better fit for you. But I’m obsessed with the newly gigantic screen and I will never use a tiny phone again.

The iPhone 16 Pro models are built from a lightweight titanium, so even the Pro Max feels relatively feathery.

And there are four colours this time around, black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and the new desert titanium.

Sean Keach / The Sun
Apple says that the iPhone 16 Pro Max can manage 33 hours of video playback on a single charge[/caption]

They all look really nice, albeit a little safe compared to the iPhone 16 line.

My favourite is probably the desert, followed by the black. But they all look very premium, which is the main thing when you’re forking out £999 / $999 for the Pro or £1,199 / $1,199 for the Pro Max.

To help motivate you to pay such lofty sums of money, you’ll get an upgraded A18 Pro chip.

This powers a whole host of behind-the-scenes AI bits, including improving the quality of the photos you take.

There’s a new 48-megapixel Fusion camera that’s capable of shooing 4K video in Dolby Vision at a staggeringly high 120 frames per second.

And you can also capture footage at 4K120fps in Slow-Mo for wildly high-quality movie-style cinematic. Hollywood in your hand, basically.

But honestly, the thing I’m most impressed by – aided by the A18 Pro chip – is the ludicrous battery life.

The iPhone 16 Pro promises 27 hours of video playback compared to last year’s 23 hours.

a person is holding a black iphone in their hand
Sean Keach / The Sun
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is lightweight, despite having an enormous 6.9-inch display[/caption]

And on the Pro Max, you’re looking at 33 hours up from 29 hours.

It’s frankly staggering how much stamina these phones have.

I’ve mostly been using the Pro Max and I just can’t run it down to zero in a day.

Battery life is usually a bit dodgy in the first few days while the iPhone is still setting up.

And I’ve been using it relentlessly too, testing out all the new features.

It just seems to keep going and going. It’s an absolute workhorse and you can really feel the gains.

I-UPGRADE?

So is it worth upgrading to either of these new phones?

If you’ve got last year’s model then it’s almost certainly a no – unless you’re a real gadget geek.

The changes aren’t big enough to warrant a yearly swap, especially as many of the new features are baked into iOS 18.

But if you’ve had an iPhone for three years, there are some great new tricks worth upgrading for.

Most people will get on just fine with the regular iPhone 16 or Plus.

Only spring for the Pro model if you need the absolute best camera, or you’re looking for supercharged battery life.

There are some general points I’d also make about the iPhone.

An iPhone tends to hold value very well, so you’re likely to get a fair chunk of money back for it when it’s time to sell it on.

And Apple has also been very good with providing software updates. The new iOS 18 works on the iPhone XS and XR, which came out all the way back in 2018.

Plus even if you feel like battery life has started to degrade, you can pay for a battery swap that breathes new life for a lot less than upgrading your model.

Screenshot
There are four colour options available on the iPhone 16 Pro line-up, including the new Desert Titanium seen here on the right
Apple

So factor all of this in when you’re thinking about buying a new phone.

For what it’s worth, my favourite of the new devices is the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Firstly, the screen is enormous and honestly, delightful.

And secondly, the battery life is so generous that I think I’d now find it hard to switch to something else.

For me – a bona fide gadget-obsessive – the cost is worth it.

But I think most people will be happy with the £799 / $799 iPhone 16.

Alternatively, if budgets are tight, consider buying some of the now-cheaper older models benefitting from price drops.

I probably wouldn’t say it’s worth the hassle of switching from Android, so if you’re on that side of the fence, my top pick is the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.

But I still favour the iPhone 16 Pro Max overall – it just has that Apple magic (even if some of that magic is pending Apple’s big AI rollout…).

The Sun says: The iPhone 16 Pro Max is the best smartphone you can buy today. But all four new iPhone 16 devices are great if you can afford them. If not, there are plenty of cheaper Apple alternatives – so check out trade-ins, refurbished units, and discounted older models instead. Updates come for years, so you won’t be missing out on much. 5/5

The new iPhone 16 models are available from £799 / $799 on Friday, September 20.

I was working 6am shifts as electrician before life-changing call, now I’m biggest underdog on Anthony Joshua undercard

JOSH PADLEY had his world switched upside down when he received a shock call to light up Anthony Joshua’s undercard.

The 28-year-old Doncaster electrician had to do the small-hall circuits at the start of his career, at places like his local Holiday Inn and, more recently, the Bradford Hotel.

The Doncaster star has been given permission from his bosses to pursue his big moment[/caption]

But on Saturday he fights Mark Chamberlain on the AJ versus Daniel Dubois show at Wembley Stadium, which will be beamed around the world, in front of 96,000 fans.

And thankfully his bosses back on site have backed his bid to drastically change his life and he’s now tipped for a life-changing night – rather than another trip to the tip.

The 14-0 ace told SunSport: “My alarm was set for a 6am start until I got a call to tell me I had to be in London the next day for 3pm for the launch press conference.

“The call came when I was driving from my paid job to go and work on my own house so I had a van full of rubbish ready to go to the local tip.

“So I texted the lads I was supposed to be working with and told them, ‘I won’t be in tomorrow, you’ll have to crack on without me.’

“I didn’t tell my bosses, I got messages from them saying, ‘Where are you?’ and then one saying, ‘Are you on the AJ undercard?’

“I had to come clean and they replied, ‘Not great for the next few jobs we had lined up – but we’re absolutely over the moon for you.’

“They instantly started thinking of ways they could help and support me because they know the opportunity is massive.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS

“I am the biggest underdog on the whole card, everyone else is a superstar or a well-supported prospect. But I am going to bring the fire.”

A victory over the Portsmouth lightweight – who is the favourite fighter of Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh  – will hurl Padley into the big time.

But he’s not trying to trash talk his opponent or grab the limelight, he just wants to swap his hi-vis for high-risk fights.

The underdog is not even too fussed about the money for the massive fight as he reckons his missus Sylvana will have already spent it in Ikea.

He said: “I am not here for the payday.

“I want what comes after the win, the next challenge or title.

“And whatever money I make won’t matter because my girlfriend is doing the house up with me, so she will have spent every penny of my purse, no doubt.”

How AJ punched his way to the top

ANTHONY JOSHUA punched his way to the top of the world before being knocked off his perch.

From humble origins in Watford to Olympic hero, the boxer has made a heavyweight impact in and out of the ring.

Eddie Hearn claims a collision with rival Tyson Fury could be worth a whopping £200million.

The pair’s bitter feud saw them refuse to say a word to each other as they met Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua has already hinted at when he will hang up his gloves.

And he revealed why his son will NEVER be allowed to box. despite amassing a £215m empire thanks to the sweet science.

AJ enjoys a lavish lifestyle including private jets and a £350k watch.

His career and sponsorship deals have seen him swap his council estate upbringing for a luxury car collection.

London hairdresser Kika Osunde is believed to have swept the KO king off his feet.

But Joshua still lives with his mum Yeta when he is not on the road.

Check out all our latest Anthony Joshua articles.

There’s a lot of talk about the cash involved in these new Riyadh Season shows that are taking place in the desert, in Los Angeles and now London.

But tales like Padley’s – about the brave working-class boys and girls who risk their lives for the sport they love – should remind us that increased fighter pay can only ever be a good thing.

He explained: “My usual week is up at 5:50am, travel with the lads to wherever the work is, last week we were about an hour away.

“I clock off and go home and at the minute I am renovating my house so I do another hour on that, go to the gym for 5pm for an hour, home, dinner, bed and repeat and repeat and repeat.

“Wembley will be a big stage, I have only boxed on small-hall shows.

“The press conference room at Wembley Arena was bigger than most of the places I have boxed in, so it is some step up.

“But that’s what I want, I want to change my life, I don’t want to go back to building sites after September 21. So I am grabbing this with both hands.”

Andy Carroll rips up Amiens contract as ex-England striker joins non-league club on free transfer in shock career twist

FORMER Premier League striker Andy Carroll has joined French side Bordeaux.

The 35-year-old completed a free transfer from Ligue 2 outfit Amiens this week.

A club statement on social media read: “Welcome Andy Carroll. The club is delighted to welcome the England international striker.

“He has a wealth of high-level experience with almost 450 professional games, making him an ideal addition to Bordeaux’s attack.”

Reports claim he was persuaded to make the drop down to the fourth tier by Amiens sporting director John Williams, who has been assisting Bordeaux with recruitment in the wake of their double relegation.

Bordeaux were declared bankrupt last month and placed into financial administration.

Les Girondis now play in Championnat National 2 and will receive help from new signing Carroll this season in a bid for promotion.

Bordeaux marks the eighth club of the striker’s career.

Carroll signed his first professional contract with Newcastle back in 2006 after graduating from the club’s academy.

He went on to make 134 first team appearances before joining Liverpool in 2011.

The striker then spent six years with West Ham before returning to St James’ Park in 2019.

Carroll has since spent short spells with Reading, West Brom and Amiens.

He was capped nine times for England between 2010 and 2012 and scored two international goals.

Brave move’ say Coldplay fans as band announce bargain ticket prices for 2025 tour

COLDPLAY has made a bold move as they announced bargain ticket prices for their 2025 tour.

The band, fronted by Chris Martin, has revealed that tickets for their 2025 tour will be available for as little as £20.

The Fix You hitmakers have extended their Music Of The Spheres World Tour with an additional six dates added to the calendar for next summer.

These shows will take place at London’s Wembley Stadium and Craven Park Stadium in Hull.

And fans can bag themselves a ticket a limited ticket for just £20.

Coldplay released a statement earlier today, which read: “A limited number of Infinity Tickets are released for every Coldplay show to give fans the chance to attend the Music Of The Spheres World Tour at a super low price.

“They cost the equivalent of £20 / $20 / €20 per ticket and must be brought in pairs.

“Infinity Tickets are randomly allocated anywhere in the venue – from the back row to the floor to the best seat in the house.”

Half of the tickets for the Hull shows will got to local fans with a with HU, YO, DN or LN postcode.

And 10 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Music Venue Trust in support of grassroots venues across the country.

Tickets are available to purchase on Ticketmaster on September 26 at 6pm.

Coldplay fans have praised them for reducing ticket prices following the backlash Oasis faced last month – and for prioritising local fans.

One wrote: “Coldplay doing a limited run of £20 tickets for their upcoming UK shows just proves that bands have a choice to make their gigs more affordable.”

A second posted: “Gotta say that is fantastic – 10% of proceeds is gonna make a huge difference to grass roots.

“Brave to Coldplay team and all involved.”

A third shared: “This is amazing news and the start of something big. All thanks to the tireless campaigning and a lot of shouting by @markdavyd & @musicvenue trust. Well done.”

“As usual, this band lead the way! See you at Wembley (hopefully!),” this fan commented.

Another added: “Wouldn’t normally mention things l like this but bravo to Coldplay chaps – supporting the @musicvenue trust with a significant slice of ticket revenue. Will make a huge difference to our scene.”

It comes after insiders told The Sun that the group, who had hit Hymn For The Weekend with Beyonce, has planned on playing a residency at a football stadium here rather than hitting the road on a traditional tour.

The move would also support Coldplay’s pledge to reduce their carbon footprint, an issue close to frontman Chris Martin’s heart.

A source said: “Coldplay want to do something super special for Moon Music and they have discussed the idea of doing a set residency rather than touring across the UK.

Wembley has been mooted as a possible location which would work for a ten-date residency, for example.

“It means they would be able to play to almost a million fans, all while keeping down their carbon footprint.

“On their last tour the band went all out to try to reduce the impact of their work on the environment.

“By keeping the shows in one place they are removing the need for HGVs to drive the stages and kit across the country, for example.

“Plus seeing acts like Adele setting up shop in one place has given them real food for thought.

For their ongoing Music Of Spheres world tour, which began in 2022, Coldplay put together a 12-point plan to try to cut their emissions.

The move was a huge success and last month the band, also including Will Champion, Guy Berryman and Jonny Buckland, revealed that in the first two years of the tour they saw a 59 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared to their global run of gigs in 2016-2017.

To help them reach the goal they reduced air travel, used more efficient lighting and pulled in sustainable materials for their stages.

They also created really cool kinetic dancefloors, which meant that fans could help generate electricity for the show as they jumped up and down.

Their new album is also going to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Each vinyl copy of the record will be pressed on to discs made from plastic bottles.

And a special “notebook” edition is made up from 70 per cent of plastic recovered from the Rio Las Vacas river in Guatemala.

Chris and Co said this would enable them to reduce their carbon emissions by 85 per cent and stop the production of 25 tonnes of virgin plastic.

After revealing they had beaten their targets with their Music Of Spheres tour, they said: “As a band, and as an industry, we’re a long way from where we need to be on this.

“But we’re grateful for everyone’s help so far and we salute everyone who’s making efforts to push things in the right direction.”

BBC unveil line-up for new Champions League show as Gary Lineker misses out on presenting job with rival at helm

THE BBC have announced the line-up for their brand new Champions League highlights show.

The Beeb will show highlights of Europe’s elite competition this season after sealing a deal worth around £20m to bring fans the action on free-to-air TV.

Mark Chapman will also be one of the main presenters of the show[/caption]

The weekly show, which will air on Wednesdays, will follow a similar format to Match of the Day but with one glaring difference – no Gary Lineker.

The iconic MOTD host has been snubbed for the Champions League show, which will instead be hosted by Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan.

Chapman and Logan will also be joined by BBC regular Jason Mohammed on the presenting team for the show.

Fans can expect an array of former pros on the pundits’ panel too, bringing expert analysis to Europe’s biggest fixtures.

Former England stars Joe Hart and Theo Walcott have been announced as part of the team.

While retired Lioness Steph Houghton and ex-Germany star Thomas Hitzlsperger will also be on fans’ TV screens.

More Premier League stars will offer their analysis too with former QPR and Man City defender Nedum Onuoha and ex-Liverpool and Villa star Stephen Warnock signed on for the show.

Fans will be able to watch the highlights on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport app from 10pm on Wednesdays of Champions League matchweeks.

With the show then airing on BBC One from 10:40pm the same night.

There will be a bonus episode of the show this Thursday with the new Champions League format spreading the opening fixtures across three days instead of the customary two.

The BBC’s decision to not use Gary Lineker as the show’s host comes as the 63-year-old enters the final year of his contract with the broadcaster.

Lineker, who has presented Match of the Day for 25 years, has cast doubt over his future with the Beeb in a recent interview with BBC Breakfast.

He said: “I don’t know [how long I’ll stay]! It depends how long they want me, I suppose.

“I love doing it at the moment; I’ve still got another year left, at least.

“So we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Obviously it’s another change in football and television and the rights of the Premier League and stuff like that.

“All of these things will play a part. But I just feel it’s been an absolute privilege to have presented it for 25 years now. I must be getting old!”

Married At First Sight UK bride hints at explosive secret show drama with very shady TikTok about reuniting with an ex

MARRIED At First Sight UK bride Charlie Curtis has hinted at explosive secret show drama with a very shady TikTok about getting back together with an ex.

But, in a social media post from premiere day, she lip-synced along to Sabrina Carpenter‘s Taste.

Charlie mimed along to the lyrics where the U.S. singer says: “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true. You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.”

She wrote in her caption: “Me because MAFS UK starts tonight!!!!!”

Charlie’s bride on MAFS was revealed to lifeguard and fitness fanatic Eve Reid this week.

Aged 26, she realised she was gay and has had one serious relationship since then.

She said she is now ready to find her special someone.

Prior to entering the experiment, Omagh-born Eve said: “I want to find somebody that I fall in love with and I want somebody to fall in love with me.”

Meanwhile, show fans think one of this year’s brides dropped out of the show early after spotting a ‘clue’ on social media.

The new series of MAFS UK kicked off with it a new set of brides and grooms ready to say “I do” to a complete stranger.

One of those revealed to be taking part was Eve Reid – but eagle-eyed fans have noticed she’s dropped a huge hint on Instagram she didn’t make it very far in the process.

Eve, 31, has been posting about having a girlfriend, sharing snaps of her holding hands with a mystery woman.

In contrast, Eve has failed to mention the E4 show on social media.

Writing on Reddit, one fan said: “On Instagram she clearly has a girlfriend (look at her most recent post and comments), she has also posted nothing about MAFS at all.

“I have a feeling she may have dropped out of the show early as she doesn’t even acknowledge that she’s on it?”

And another said: “Thank you! Definitely strange. And that she’s openly posting about a gf.”

Lifeguard and fitness instructor Eve’s first serious relationship was with a man and she was even due to get married at one point.

But at 26 she realised she was gay and, speaking ahead of the MAFS UK launch, said: “I want to find somebody that I fall in love with and I want somebody to fall in love with me.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “Viewers will be able to follow Eve and Charlie’s relationship on screen over the coming weeks.”

It comes just days after her reality TV past was revealed.

Yesterday, it emerged that the brunette beauty appeared on a small-screen Amazon Prime series with Lindsay Lohan, 38.

Back in 2022, she starred in eight episodes of Lovestruck High, where 15 UK singletons headed to a typical American High School setting in an attempt to find romance.

Married at First Sight UK 2024

Here's who you can expect in the Mafs 2024 cast:

The show, which also featured Junaid Ahmed, 29, from TOWIE, even saw the cast heading back to Prom.

At the time, she admitted she was “definitely open” to more opportunities within the TV world.

“I love to talk to people, chat to people, I think I just want to maybe raise some money for charities and do stuff to help other people, that’s sort of where I want to go in my journey,” she told Reality Titbit.

Now, two years later, she’s trying her luck again on MAFS.

Prior to enter the matchmaking show, she said coming out as gay at 25 was “one of the most significant moments” in her life.

She told how she had been single for four years following a difficult break up and hopesd the MAFS experts will help her find more than a ‘situationship’.

She said: “I’m at the age now where I want to settle down.”

Previously, the brunette described herself as “a typical lesbian” who would be “falling head over heels for the first person she saw.”

The 5 foods that could slash your risk of dementia by 28% – and red wine and chocolate are on the list

EATING dark chocolate and drinking red wine could lower your risk of dementia, new research suggests.

Led by a team of researchers at Queen’s University Belfast, the study reported that consuming more flavonoid-rich foods and drinks could help reduce the risk of developing the incurable illness by 28 per cent.

At present, there are around 1 million people in the UK living with a form of dementia.

This figure is projected to rise to 1.4 million people by 2040.

While age and genetics contribute substantially to whether someone develops the disease, researchers found that diet can also play an important role in prevention.

They said flavonoids – compounds primarily found in deeply coloured plants, fruits and vegetables – can have a range of health benefits, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.

They’ve also been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, as well as improved cognitive function.

Early-stage studies in animals indicate that flavonoids may help block the build-up of beta-amyloid plaque – a trademark of Alzheimer’s – in the brain

Flavonoid-rich foods and drinks include:

  1. Berries
  2. Leafy greens
  3. Tea
  4. Red wine
  5. Dark chocolate

The study – published in JAMA Network Open – was led by Prof Aedin Cassidy, Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems and Institute for Global Food Security at Queen’s.

She said: “The worldwide prevalence of dementia continues to increase rapidly.

“In this population-based cohort study, we analysed dietary data from over 120,000 adults aged between 40 and 70 years from the UK Biobank.

“Our findings show that consuming six additional servings of flavonoid-rich foods per day, in particular berries, tea and red wine, was associated with a 28 per cent lower risk of dementia.

“The findings were most noticeable in individuals with a high genetic risk as well as those with symptoms of depression.”

The greatest risk reduction was observed in participants consuming at least two of the following per day: five cups of tea, one glass of red wine, and half a normal serving of berries, compared with those who did not consume any.

First author of the study, Dr Amy Jennings, from the School of Biological Sciences at Queen’s said: “These results provide a clear public health message as they suggest that a simple measure such as increasing daily consumption of flavonoid-rich foods may lower dementia risk, especially in populations at high risk.

“Currently, there is no effective treatment for the disease so preventive interventions to improve health and quality of life, and reduce social and economic costs, should continue to be a major public health priority.”

Foods that up your risk of dementia

Flavonoid-rich foods may have a protective effect on the the brain - but studies show that certain foods may also be a risk factor in dementia.

Here are some foods that may increase your risk:

Processed red meat

Consuming two servings of processed red meat each week has been linked to 14 per cent a higher risk of cognitive decline.

Swapping out bacon and sausages with a serving of nuts, beans or tofu every day may lower the risk of dementia by 20 per cent.

Ultra-processed food

Ultra-processed foods (UPF) – which contain flavourings, preservatives, emulsifiers and thickeners and have been heavily altered from their natural state – have been linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline and developing dementia.

They include fizzy drinks, biscuits, sweets, ready meals and crisps.

Researchers estimated that replacing 10 per cent of UPFs you eat with minimally processed or unprocessed food could reduce your risk of developing dementia by 19 per cent.

Sugar

Sugar is believed to increase the risk of dementia.

Having lots of sugar in any form, including fruit juice, cakes, and chocolate, makes people 54 per cent more likely to develop the condition, a US study found.

Alcohol

According to Alzheimer’s Society, evidence shows that excessive alcohol consumption increases a person’s risk of developing dementia.

Boozing is linked to reduced volume of the brain’s white matter, which helps to transmit signals between different brain regions, leading to issues in brain function, the charity explained.

Over a long period of time, drinking more than the recommended limit of 14 units of alcohol a week “may shrink the parts of the brain involved in memory”.
