Brett Morgan won his first game as Head Football Coach

Vicksburg Daily News –

Vicksburg native and Warren Central High School graduate Brett Morgan has won his first game as a Head Football Coach. Morgan is a first-year Head Coach at West Point High School.

On Friday, the Green Wave defeated Noxubee County 20-18 to mark Morgan’s first official win.

In his first two games of the season, West Point fell short to Louisville and Starkville High Schools. The team took losses to them last year as well but eventually went on a winning streak and won a state championship.

Morgan was named Head Coach back in January after spending nine seasons as the team’s offensive coordinator. He has been on West Point’s staff since 2009. Since his time on the staff, the Green Waves have won five state titles.

Morgan was thrilled when he first took over as head coach earlier this year.

“We are extremely blessed to have incredible leadership at the administrative level, unmatched community support, and the absolute toughest players in Mississippi,” he said. There are so many men that have poured blood, sweat, and tears into this program to make it what it is today. Our foundation of
toughness and family dates back over 50 years to the great West Point teams of the 70’s and 80’s. To all these men, I want to thank you for the effort you put into making this program what it is today.”

Morgan comes from a family of football. He is the son of legendary Coach Robert Morgan(former WC Coach) and brother of Josh Morgan(WC Coach) and Rob Morgan(WC Offensive Coordinator).

Next Friday, Brett Morgan and West Point(1-2) will travel to play Neshoba Central in an effort to bring home another win
