I’m England star who made over 100 appearances for Chelsea – but I wish I’d left when I was 16

HE was supposed to be the next big thing at Chelsea.

He made his debut aged just 18 under Jose Mourinho.

But in the end, he wishes he left sooner – because staying at Stamford Bridge shunted his progress.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek racked up more than 150 appearances for his boyhood club, first joining the academy aged eight.

He chipped in with 13 goals and 17 assists – plus got his hands on three trophies, including the Premier League and Europa League.

But arguably his loan spells at Crystal Palace and Fulham provided his best football.

Loftus-Cheek, who earned his ten England caps from 2017 to 2018 including four at the World Cup, did leave Chelsea permanently after 19 years in 2023, joining AC Milan in Italy.

In his impressive debut season at the San Siro, he racked up ten goals in 40 appearances.

And now he looks back wishing he made the call to quit Chelsea sooner for the benefit of his career.

Now 28, Loftus-Cheek told The Times: “I think if you’re a youngster, seven or eight years old, and you’ve signed with Chelsea, fantastic.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

“Because it’s a great academy and you’ll learn how to play football, you’ll develop your skills there and a great coach is coaching you.

“But it gets to a point, maybe at 15, 16, where you’re getting to that stage where it’s youth-team football.

“And you might want to start thinking about going and playing somewhere else. Because it’s very difficult now to just go straight through.

“The best way to develop is by playing games and playing men’s football.

“And it’s easier to do that somewhere else at a lower club. And I feel like that’s what I missed out on, I think.”

Like Loftus-Cheek, homegrown talents Conor Gallagher, Lewis Hall, Mason Mount, Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi have all been sold by Chelsea in recent years.

That has helped balance the books for Todd Boehly’s mega spending and create space in the squad for the host of expensive signings.

Users of exercise-logging app Strava urged to check maps in search for Jack O’Sullivan, 23, who vanished six months ago

STRAVA users have been urged to check their exercise-logging app in the search to find a 23-year-old man who disappeared six months ago.

Law conversion student Jack O’Sullivan vanished after a night out.

The search for Jack continues six months after he went missing[/caption]

He was last seen at 3.15am on March 2 in the area of Brunel Lock Road/Brunel Way, in Bristol.

Jack, who is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, with short, brown hair, was on a night out with his pals when he went missing.

Hundreds of taxi drivers have been interviewed and thousands of hours of CCTV reviewed but Jack’s disappearance remains a mystery.

Now an appeal has been posted on the ‘FIND JACK’ Facebook page – with more than 60,000 members – for Strava users to check their accounts.

A web user who made the post is urging users of the physical activity tracking app to activate Strava Flyby which shows a map of your activity route.

Strava Flyby also reveals when other Strava users crossed the same path or were nearby and they believe it could reveal witnesses or other important information.

Those searching for Jack are hopeful the chain of ‘flybys’ could reveal more people who were in the Brunel Lock and Brunel Way area the night or morning he disappeared.

The social media user wrote: “By following this chain of flybys, searchers could potentially find a wider network of people who were in the general area that night/morning.

“Each of these individuals might have a small piece of information that, when put together, could help build a clearer picture of what happened.

“As well as exact times, routes, etc. people often post photos onto their Strava activities.

How to activate a flyby on Strava

Website only

 – Log in to Strava website (not app)

– Profile pic and go to; Settings and go to; Privacy Controls and go to: Flybys

– Set to “Everyone”

– Find your March 2nd 2024 activity (or possibly into the night of the 1st March)

– Privacy Controls and go to; “Everyone”

– Save and click “View flybys”

– Tick the boxes next to any other Strava users shown on your flyby page to show how they interacted with your route

– Check for routes near Bristol/Hotwells or connecting to those areas

“It could cast a wider net and might help uncover details that wouldn’t otherwise be found.”

Jack was wearing a quilted green/brown Barbour jacket, a beige woollen jumper, navy chinos and brown leather trainers with white soles when he vanished in March.

His family previously made a formal complaint about a police force’s attempts to find him and said they had ”lost all faith” in Avon and Somerset Police’s investigation.

They say that errors were made in early searches and crucial CCTV footage was initially missed.

A GoFundMe fundraising page was set up by family friend with the aim of raising money to generate new leads earlier this month.

They want to offer £20k to “regnite the search efforts” and said if unclaimed the money would go to charity Missing People.

Hours before he disappeared, Jack showed his mum Catherine how he had attached an Apple AirTag to his car keys.

The law conversion student boarded a bus for the party with the “fully functioning” tracking device in his pocket.

Catherine messaged him at around 1am asking if he wanted a lift home from a house party in the Hotwells neighbourhood.

Jack said he was fine and would get a taxi home – before vanishing just hours later.

Catherine believes data from the AirTag could solve the mystery of Jack’s disappearance.

But the mum said cops told her they couldn’t access the tracker because of privacy laws.

The family pressed cops only to be told the AirTag was not transmitting data because its battery was flat.

But Catherine dismissed the claim, pointing out the AirTag had been charged before Jack went out at 6pm.

She said Apple experts told her the AirTag would send a phone notification even if its battery actually was running low.

Cops said more than 20 different teams and departments have been involved in the probe into Jack’s disappearance.

A spokesperson said more than 100 hours of CCTV have been reviewed.

They added that cops have carried out 200 hours of searches on the River Avon and the surrounding banks along with 40 land searches.

Cops have received almost 100 calls from the public with possible sightings, and eight media appeals have been issued.

Assistant Chief Constable Joanne Hall said earlier this month: “Our staff and officers remain committed to doing everything we can to find Jack.

“We do not underestimate what a distressing time this has been, and continues to be, for his family.

“When I look at missing persons investigations in Avon and Somerset over the last year, we’ve had around 5,500.

“Missing people are somebody’s loved ones, they’re somebody’s family, and we don’t close the door on that.”

Jack's final movements before vanishing

These were Jack O'Sullivan's movements on the night of March 1-2.

  • 6pm – Jack leaves his flat in the village of Flax Bourton to meet his friends.
  • 8.20pm – Jack travels by bus to a Wetherspoons in Bristol city centre.
  • 10.45pm – Jack texts Catherine saying he has gone to a house party in Hotwells and his keys are safe.
  • 1.52am – Jack texts Catherine saying he is fine and will get a cab home.
  • Just before 3am – Jack leaves the house party.
  • 3.13am – last confirmed sighting of Jack walking onto a grassy area at the junction of Brunel Lock Way and Brunel Way.
  • 3.24am – Jack tries to call a friend who was still at the party.
  • 3.25am – possible sighting of Jack heading towards Bristol city centre.
  • 3.34am – Jack’s friend tries to call him back but he only says ‘Hello’ before breaking up.
  • 3.38am – Footage shows a person who could be Jack walking along the Bennett Way slip road
  • 6.44am – Jack’s phone still active on Find My Friends

Furious Donald Trump declares ‘I hate Taylor Swift’ in social media post after singer endorsed rival Kamala Harris

FURIOUS Donald Trump has declared he hates Taylor Swift after the singer endorsed Kamala Harris for the election.

The former President went off on Swift on Sunday, posting the angered announcement to his own social media platform, Truth Social.

Swift endorsed Harris shortly after the bad-tempered showdown ended at Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center.

The 14-time Grammy winner – who is dating Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce – penned a lengthy Instagram statement to her 283 million followers.

She called Harris a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and rallied for the country to be “led by calm and not chaos.”

Swift signed off her post as “Childless Cat Lady,” in reference to a comment made by Trump’s running mate JD Vance.

Following the endorsement, Trump took to the social media platform he made called Truth Social and furiously posted in all caps on Sunday: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

The post accumulated thousands of likes and so-called ‘ReTruths’.

Trump also appeared on Fox News’ breakfast show Fox & Friends to discuss the debate and Swift’s endorsement of Harris.

“I actually like [Brittany] Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan,” Trump declared, via the NY Post.

Brittany is the wife of NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who plays alongside Kelce with the Chiefs.

Swift and Brittany forged a friendship during the 2023 season and were regularly seen watching their partners play from luxury suites in stadiums across the country.

Brittany recently came out in support of Trump, prompting rumors of a “feud” between the pair.

“I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great,” Trump continued.

“She’s a big, she’s a big MAGA fan. Much better than Taylor Swift.”

As previously reported, a source has since told The U.S. Sun that there was “no rift” between the two friends.

It comes as Taylor Swift spoke directly to Kamala Harris on two separate occasions before making the bombshell public endorsement of her push for the White House, The U.S. Sun has been told.

A source close to the Cruel Summer star’s entourage stressed that the singing superstar is convinced the current vice president is “the only option” ahead of the November election battle with Donald Trump.

The U.S. Sun revealed last month that Taylor was ready to endorse Harris once the blockbuster European leg of her Eras tour ended.

PRESIDENTIAL PUSH

According to the insider, President Joe Biden’s camp desperately wanted her to rescue his faltering push for a second term before the Democrats pulled the plug on his campaign in July and pivoted to Harris.

But with Taylor, who backed Biden in 2020, now enjoying some downtime before she starts performing again in North America next month, she readily took the opportunity to post a message of endorsement on Instagram just moments after the contentious debate on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

“She felt she needed to speak out as the election process is getting more intense,” the well-placed source told The U.S Sun.

“The time just felt right.”

The insider confirmed Taylor had spoken to Harris “a couple of times on the phone” lately and knows exactly how significant the build-up to polling day on November 5 is for every American.

“Taylor is very aware of the problems, issues, and struggles that many people go through in the country,” continued the source. “She thinks Kamala is the only option to help create a better society and America for everyone.”

CALL TO ARMS

Her scathing takedown of Trump’s running mate JD Vance, who sparked outrage with his now infamous “childless cat ladies” jibe, spread like wildfire on social media less than an hour after the often fiery debate between Trump and Harris concluded in Philadelphia.

Trump, who dubbed his performance “his best debate ever,” surprisingly repeated wild conspiracy theories about immigrants eating dogs and cats in Ohio, with Harris riling the 78-year-old about his criminal convictions handed down to him earlier this year.

Taylor has nailed her political allegiances to the mast during previous elections.

INCREDIBLE INFLUENCE

But with the race becoming nail-bitingly close, and knowing the influence she has over her millions of fans, the time was right to make a stand against Trump’s push for a return to the Oval Office.

“It is very important for her to voice her opinion and show support for who she thinks will be best for the country, and she is very proud and excited for Kamala Harris to have the possibility to become the next president and that woman can be in this position,” said the source.

“Taylor is an artist that wants to be engaged socially, to speak about causes that she values a lot and that has a lot that she likes on Kamala Harris’s vision and perspectives for America.”

The Shake It Off star wrote to her 283 million followers on Instagram that she not only did she back Harris for the White House, but laid bare her anger at AI tools “falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site.”

Which celebrities have endorsed Kamala Harris' presidential bid?

TAYLOR Swift became the latest celebrity to endorse Kamala Harris and Tim Walz's campaign for the presidency.

Here’s a look at other celebrities that have backed Harris and Walz’s ticket:

  • Olivia Rodrigo: Singer Olivia Rodrigo endorsed Kamala Harris in a social media post.
  • John Legend: Singer John Legend performed for Harris during the Democratic National Convention.
  • Spike Lee: Director Spike Lee threw his support behind Harris and was in attendance during her speech at the DNC.
  • George Clooney: Actor George Clooney voiced his support for Harris in a New York Times op-ed.
  • Kesha: Pop singer Kesha wrote on social media that she plans to support Harris in the upcoming election.
  • Tina Knowles: The mother of Beyoncé endorsed Harris on her Instagram page.
  • Pink: Singer Pink supported Harris in a social media post.
  • Quavo: Rapper Quavo backed Harris by speaking at her first campaign rally.
  • Stevie Wonder: Singer Stevie Wonder performed during the third night of the DNC and voiced his support for Harris.

“It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” she wrote.

“It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”
