Surprisingly fast saloon from little-known brand no longer sold in the UK can match speed of BMW M3 & is under £5,000
A SURPRISINGLY fast saloon car from a little-known brand that no longer sells its motors in the UK can be bought for under £5,000.
The luxury car is seldom seen on UK roads but is comparable to the likes of BMW and Mercedes in terms of features – and it even boasts a top speed that matches the M3.
It also comes with a wonderful, well-refined interior[/caption]The fancy Infiniti M was first sold in the US back in 1989 and finally went global in 2005 – with European and UK sales starting in 2008.
The most-recent fourth-gen model, built from 2010 to 2019, was especially eye-catching with a range of beefy engines, classy, well-refined looks and a wonderful interior.
The M can mostly be found with a 3.0-litre diesel engine, although a 3.7-litre V6 and a hybrid 3.5-litre V6 can also be picked up – if you know where to look.
Similar in style to the Audi A6 and Jaguar XF, the M boasts a handful of subtle sporty stylings – including a narrow window line that rises over the rear wheel arch, somewhat resembling the shape of the BMW M3 coupe.
There’s also a distinctive upturned ‘ducktail’ boot lip – supposedly designed to improve airflow and create zero lift at high speeds.
According to How Rare Is My Car?, just 182 M models exist on UK roads in 2024, making it one of the brand’s rarest cars.
This is largely down to the fact that Infiniti, a sub-brand of Nissan, no longer sells their cars in the UK, having pulled their stock from showrooms back in 2020.
But even back then, they had just six dealerships across the country and, according to Parkers, sold just 750 new motors in Britain in 2019.
Seen as a sportier, high-class rival to Toyota’s Lexus brand when they first arrived in Europe, Infiniti ultimately suffered from limited brand recognition and struggled to compete in a crowded luxury market.
Despite the M’s scarcity, they can be picked up for under £5,000 if you’re lucky, although generally cost around £8,000.
We found an example from 2013 on the Motors website for just £4,495 with a sizeable 146,000 miles on the clock.
It includes climate control, cruise control and a leather interior, and even gadgets like headlight washers, heated door mirrors and heated front seats.
Described in the listing as a “very rare petrol hybrid model”, it packs a 3.5-litre motor that’s capable of 364bhp, hitting 0-60mph in a surprising 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph – the same as the BMW M3.
This comes as a rival car brand opens up on two future models – including a replacement for its recently discontinued 167 mph super saloon.
Elsewhere, a legendary car that was discontinued almost 50 years ago has been revived with a new retro design.
This super-rare hybrid Infiniti M can be bought for under £5,000[/caption]Mum-of-three air hostess, 57, drops dead in front of passengers after she ‘felt unwell but wanted to fly home to kids’

Stars of legendary nineties TV show reunite at Emmys 25 years after show debut – but two actors are missing
STARS of The West Wing reunited at last night’s Emmys 25 years after the show debuted – but two actors were missing.
Michael Sheen, who played President Jed Bartlet in the legendary nineties TV show, reunited with his former castmates at the annual ceremony.
Stars of The West Wing reunited at last night’s Emmys[/caption] They presented the Outstanding Drama Series category[/caption]The actor, 84, took the stage at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, accompanied by Allison Janney, Dulé Hill, Richard Schiff, and Janel Moloney, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show’s premiere while presenting the award for Outstanding Drama Series.
Allison, who played Press Secretary C.J. Cregg, exuded classic Hollywood elegance in a black and red off-the-shoulder silk gown as she announced Shōgun as the winner.
Richard, who portrayed Communications Director Toby Ziegler throughout the show’s seven-year run, shared a sweet red carpet moment with his wife, actress Jazmyn Simon, before the event.
During the evening, Michael told the audience: “From 1999 to 2006, I had the privilege of playing the President of the United States on a remarkable series created by Aaron Sorkin and produced by John Wells.”
Dulé, who played Presidential aide Charlie Young, added, “It was an honor to serve in the fictional administration of The West Wing.”
Janel, who played Senior Assistant Donna Moss, joined her fellow castmates onstage, where they were introduced against the backdrop of a recreated Oval Office.
However, key cast members Rob Lowe and Bradley Whitford, who portrayed Sam Seaborn and Josh Lyman, were notably absent.
The cast are no stranger to the Emmys. The West Wing won 27 awards out of 98 nominations after its debut in September 1999.
Allison said: “It’s hard to believe that just 25 years ago, Aaron and the writers had to use their imagination to create engaging plotlines for The West Wing.”
Richard added, “Unlike today, where storylines can be plucked right off the news – storylines that writers would have deemed a bit far-fetched, if not utterly ridiculous, 25 years ago.”
Shōgun had a sweeping win at this year’s awards, while Netflix’s The Gentlemen missed out.
The Disney+ drama scooped an incredible 18 Emmys in total, including for Outstanding Drama Series.
Netflix’s highly acclaimed Baby Reindeer walked away with Best Limited series while its creator and lead star Richard Gadd bagged outstanding writing for a limited or anthology series or movie.
Elsewhere, Prime Video’s Hacks beat off The Bear to win Best Comedy Series, but Christopher Storer did win outstanding directing for a comedy series for The Bear.
Despite ranking in Netflix’s charts and getting a second series, The Gentleman walked away almost empty handed.
The drama, created by Guy Ritchie, did win Outstanding Stunt Coordination For Comedy Programming.
But the British were well represented by The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki as the star walked away with a gong for Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.
