Towie set for most explosive series finale ever after bosses forced to ‘take emergency measures’

TOWIE could be set for the most explosive series finale ever after bosses were forced to ‘take emergency measures’.

Drama on the long-running ITVBe show reached a fever pitch after Junaid Ahmed recently revealed his secret relationship.

Junaid, 29, recently doubled down on his decision to pursue a romance with his best mate Harry Derbidge’s ex-boyfriend.

He insisted that his former partner Joe Blackman “one hundred percent” felt the same way.

Now, a show source has said that the situation between the warring trio has deteriorated even further.

Apparently, things got so bad on the show that bosses were forced to take unprecedented steps as they shot the final scenes.

An insider told The Sun Online: “Let’s just say things really kick off after the Harry, Joe and Junaid love triangle.

“I don’t think anyone was expecting it to end the way it ends.

“It was pretty shocking and the fallout was so bad that the show had to do something that has never ever happened before.”

We have approached a representative for The Only Way Is Essex for comment.

Last month, Harry – who is the cousin of Amy Childs – was dumped by his fiancée in emotional scenes.

The pair had been dating for a year, but Joe called time on their romance just after their anniversary.

Junaid has since been cut off from his castmates after revealing his secret relationship.

In a move of solidarity, Amy, 34, also unfollowed him on Instagram along with several of their co-stars.

However, Junaid broke his silence on the situation to us at the Kids Like Us red carpet in London’s Leicester Square.

The reality TV personality admitted: “I’m at the centre of the biggest love triangle Towie has probably ever had in years.

Is TOWIE now going back to it's roots?

By Joshua Rom

There is nothing like a good triangle to potentially reinvigorate what could be described as a stale reality TV series.

Every summer (and for a few winters) ITV viewers tuned into Love Island in droves. But let’s think of the wider landscape for a second, Celebs Go Dating, Married At First Sight, Love Is Blind and Too Hot To Handle. It seems viewers want to see relationships. More than that, they want to see the drama behind relationships.

Towie in comparison looked stale. Friends getting into arguments in an effort to get some extra screen time. Viewing has been in decline for a long time as bosses have searched for any storyline to grab viewers attention.

Yes, we have had relationships that have ended and then friends just couldn’t help but make a move after (looking at you Ella Rae Wise and Dan Edgar). However the series has lacked a triangle to properly invest in.

Now we have one in the form of Junaid, Joe and of course one of the original cast members, Harry Derbidge. He has appeared on and off since the series inception back in 2010.

We of course remember the doomed romance with Bobby Norris as the pair were mocked by the late, great Joan Rivers on E!’s Fashion Police. Now Amy Childs, another OG cast member is getting involved by unfollowing Junaid in a move on solidarity.

Like many fans, I love a bit of nostalgia and I can say that I am properly invested in this new drama. It’s the next generation of cast members that are involved with the beloved OG’s and I am lapping it up.

The real question is, can bosses capitalise on this and maintain the quality drama?

“But do you know what, I went with my heart and I had to be honest and open.

“Harry was my friend, Harry was with Joe, and I was honest and open about my feelings for Joe.

“It was one of those things I had to go with my heart, we were in Cyprus.”

We then asked Junaid if he had feelings for Joe prior to Cyprus, the star replied: “No it was definitely in Cyprus.

“But it was quite difficult because Harry and Joe were on the rocks. I was with Joe every day, I was supporting him, spending a lot of time with him.

“And as we were spending more time together, I actually started developing feelings for him.

“I wasn’t the first person, and I’m not the last person, like I genuinely started having feelings for him and I was honest and open about it.”

Reece James return delayed as Chelsea star’s hamstring injury fails to heal as well as expected

REECE JAMES has suffered a delay to his long-anticipated return for Chelsea.

The defender’s latest hamstring injury has not healed as well as expected after he got crocked again in the summer.

And club medics have now put his comeback on hold.

The Chelsea captain has endured a nightmare run of hamstring issues in the past couple of years.

He most recently underwent surgery in December last year and looked to be making solid progress at last.

He played regularly on the summer tour of the US but then became injured again shortly after and is yet to play a single minute this season.

Insiders at Stamford Bridge insist there has been no setback or fresh, new injury to the affected muscle.

Simply that the area concerned has not recovered as quickly as they would like.

They are also adamant James will not be rushed back and therefore he needs a longer than expected spell on the sidelines.

James has been plagued by injuries for the last few years and picked up several problems last season.

Chelsea ratings vs Bournemouth as Sanchez and Sancho are heroes... and Palmer struggles

CHELSEA needed a late moment of magic from Christopher Nkunku to snatch all three points from Bournemouth.

Marcus Tavernier crashed a super strike against the crossbar early on and Robert Sanchez saved an Evanilson penalty before the break.

Jadon Sancho came on for his debut at half-time and made the difference for the Blues as he set up Nkunku’s winner.

Here’s how SunSport’s Graham Nickless rated Maresca’s men…

Robert Sanchez – 8

Man-of-the-match show with first-half penalty save from Evanilson and a handful of excellent saves.

But rather fortunate to stay on the pitch after denying Evanilson a clear goalscoring opportunity with a deliberate foul that led to the spot-kick.

Axel Disasi – 5

The right-back was given an uncomfortable night down the right side.

Given the runaround by Cherries dangerman Antoine Semenyo and was replaced just after the hour.

Wesley Fofana – 6

Did his best to keep a clean sheet when run ragged by the home strikers.

Luckily for the centre-back, he could rely on Sanchez to keep them out.

Levi Colwill – 6

Did his best to calm the storm that came the Blues’ way for most of the match.

Made sure he kept record-signing Evanilson away from notching his first Premier League goal.

Marc Cucurella – 7

Always busy and making a nuisance of himself when he wasn’t being buffeted by Semenyo’s marking.

But overdid it with one stupid, deliberate shoulder barge on the Bournemouth winger.

Renato Veiga – 5

Suffered like most of his team-mates to open up the home side’s defence.

The Portuguese midfielder didn’t see enough of the ball to make an impact.

Moises Caicedo – 7

The captain was always looking for that defence-splitting pass when he wasn’t on defensive duty.

Gave an example to others around him who weren’t putting in a decent shift.

Noni Madueke – 5

Was quite mad attempting an early shot at the home goal that ended up as a throw-in.

And it didn’t get much better than that for the winger who was hauled off just after the hour.

Cole Palmer – 5

Rested by England for tired muscles and there wasn’t much energy in this performance.

But the Cherries, worried by his reputation, did target him in the first half.

Pedro Neto – 5

Failed to make any impact on the wing but could claim he had little or no service.

Boss Maresca had seen enough and brought on Sancho to replace him at half-time.

Nicolas Jackson – 5

Chelsea fans won’t want to suffer another nine years of this from the big striker.

Had one shot comfortably saved and another blocked but will need to show more upfront for his ludicrous long contract.

SUBS

Jadon Sancho (for Neto) – 8

Was booked 11 minutes after coming on then, looked likely throughout second half and set up Nkunku’s equaliser on super debut.

Tosin Adarabioyo (for Disasi) – 6

Was seldom troubled.

Joao Felix (for Madueke) – 5

Tidied up in midfield.

Christopher Nkunku (for Jackson) – 8

Burst through three players to score and snatch the winner.

The defender was hit by injuries last season too

He was limited to just ten Premier League appearances, having only played 16 league games in the campaign before that.

The defender’s injury woes also meant he missed the Euros in the summer.
