My children drew all over my dining table with permanent ink – but Mrs Hinch’s 85p cleaning hack got rid of it instantly

KIDS have an uncanny knack for finding the most unexpected ways to express their creativity, and drawing on tables is a classic example.

One moment, your little angels are playing quietly, and the next, they’ve turned your dining table into their personal canvas.

Her kids decided to get creative by using permanent marker pens on her dining table[/caption]

But once you’ve discovered your pristine furniture covered in crayon masterpieces, it’s probably too late and the next challenge is scrubbing it clean.

And one parent knows this only too well.

She took to Mrs Hinch Cleaning tips and tricks Facebook to ask for help from her fellow cleaning fans.

The mum, who posted anonymously, shared a picture of her white porcelain table which clearly had black, green and blue permanent pen markings.

Urgently asking for some advice, she wrote: “Can someone help me before I throw out my dining table?

“Felt tip pen and permanent marker vs four year old.”

Luckily, Mrs Hinch cleaning fans were filled with ideas to help get rid of the pen markings and quickly rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One asked the mum: “Have you tried hair spray or hand sanitizer?”

Surprisingly the mum said that this trick helped get rid of the markings slightly by writing: “I’ve tried hair spray, it lightened it a bit but it’s still very noticeable.”

Hairspray, which costs as little as 85p from Bodycare, can be used to help remove stains by letting the formula sit on the affected area for a few minutes before washing the item with a detergent and warm water.

Cleaning experts say that hairspray can be used to remove ink, red wine, and grease stains.

Another parent suggested using nail varnish remover, £1 from Poundland

They added: “That’s how I get most of the kids scribbles out.”

Others also agreed with using hairspray as another mum said: “Hair spray worked wonders for us when trying to get markers off my daughter’s white board.”

This is a mild abrasive paste that removes ingrained stains and dirt ordinary cleaners can miss to reveal an incredible shine, and can cost around £5 from eBay

The ‘posh apartment block’ that’s home to 10 royals – but there’s ‘not much privacy’ & it’s dubbed a ‘prison for kids’

KENSINGTON Palace is one of the most grand buildings in London – but it’s also home to 10 royal family members and numerous staff.

In fact, the magnificent bolthole is currently hosting an exhibition focusing on hardworking “courtiers and servants” who have tirelessly run royal palaces over the years.

Royal fans have got to be quick, as Untold Lives: A Palace at Work is running until October – and features the stories of staff including pages, cooks, wetnurses and seamstresses.

According to royal expert Jennie Bond, residing at Kensington Palace is like “living in an extremely posh apartment block” – so it’s not surprising that a number of royals call it home.

Kate and William

Famously the Prince and Princess of Wales used Kenginston Palace’s 20-room Apartment 1A as a home for a number of years.

Although it is called an “apartment”, royal experts have hailed the royal dwelling as being anything but tiny.

The “enormous” Apartment 1A is spread over four floors and takes up half the Clock Tower wing designed by Sir Christopher Wren for King William and Queen Mary.

It boasts five reception rooms, three main bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, as well as his-and-hers dressing rooms.

Meanwhile, in the basement there is a gym, laundry room and space for luggage.

Of course the family has lots of staff at their beck and call, and there are nine bedrooms for employees on the top floor, which can be reached by a lift.

Despite the impressive amenities, William and Kate uprooted their kids during the summer of 2022 to get out of the “goldfish bowl” of London to create more privacy for their kids – but still use it as their official offices.

Royal biographer and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, Ingrid Seward, told Fabulous: “Kensington Palace is a glorious prison for kids – they want to be able to play football without being watched from behind the gates.”

Kensington Palace has been hailed as an “upmarket housing estate for the British Royal Family”, as there are a number of other royal residents there living side-by-side.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank

The daughter of Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and husband Jack Brooksbank also spend time at Kensington Palace.

The royal couple moved into Nottingham Cottage, the former home of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, in 2022, after previously living in Ivy Cottage on the grounds.

Currently the family split their time between London and Portugal, where they reside at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club as Jack is doing marketing, sales and promotion for a property development out there.

Princess Eugenie revealed the lengths she has to go to get a food delivery at the cosy 1,300 square-foot Nottingham Cottage, and it involves going outside in her pyjamas.

The royal appeared on the food-themed Table Manners podcast which is presented by Jessie Ware and her mum Lennie.

Chef Lennie asked the royal: “How do they get into Kensington Palace?”

Eugenie, who is mum to August and Ernest, answered: “You ring down and we say ‘there’s a Deliveroo coming’ and then we’ll get in our pyjamas and drive down and pick it up.”

Lennie was shocked at the effort, and asked: “They won’t bring it to you?”

Eugenie said: “No, we could walk but I don’t want to be in my pyjamas outside.”

Duke and Duchess of Gloucester

The late Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Gloucester, and his wife Birgitte van Deurs currently live in Kensington Palace’s Old Stables.

They moved into the property in 2019 following it being extensively renovated, which cost the taxpayer £1million, according to the Daily Mail.

Previously they had lived in the 21-room Apartment 1, which was next to William and Kate’s Apartment 1A.

Duke and Duchess of Kent

Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, another first cousin of the Queen, lives nearby with wife Katherine Worsley at Wren House.

They have called the five-bedroom home – which is a cottage-style property with a white picket fence – since they tied the knot in 1961.

It was previously used as staff accommodation, and was named after Sir Christopher Wren.

More royal residents at Kensington Palace include Prince Michael and wife Marie Christine von Reibnitz.

They have resided at Apartment 10 for over 40 years, and previously caused uproar in 2002 when it was revealed they had been forking out just £69 a week for the five-bedroom apartment.

They were criticised for being paid for by the taxpayer despite not being working royal family members.

From 2010, they were asked to pay £120,000 a year for the pad.

Who owns Kensington Palace?

TECHNICALLY King Charles owns Kensington Palace on behalf of the nation and upkeep costs are paid for by the Sovereign Grant.

The royal residences are off-limits to the public and closed off, but tourists can go inside the opulent building and explore the King’s State Apartments and the Queen’s State Apartments.

Around 50 residents live in total at Kensington Palace, with the majority of this number being made up of staff, ex-military members and courtiers.

Jennie told OK: “Kensington Palace is a funny old place. Obviously it’s pretty grand, but living there must be rather like living in an extremely posh apartment block.

“You’re never far from your neighbours and there’s not really that much privacy.”

Legendary British carmaker unveils bizarre three-seater sports car inspired by iconic model from its past

A LEGENDARY British carmaker has unveiled an exciting new sports car with three seats and a top speed of 199 mph.

The big reveal comes just a week after they teased fans with a hard-to-fathom image of only its rear spoiler.

Lotus are set to release their first all-electric sports car next year and this aggressive-looking concept has been held up as a “blueprint” for what it could look like.

Known as the ‘Theory 1’ concept, this stunning motor features an odd three-seat setup, 986bhp and an all-wheel-drive electric powertrain that draws energy from a 70kWh battery.

Lotus also claim it has a 0-62mph time of less than 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 199mph.

Most notable of all is the Theory 1’s carbon-made body weight, which is under 1,600kg – significantly low for an electric car.

Lotus enthusiasts will notice the Theory 1 boasts subtle design nods to their iconic Esprit model – the car made famous for its appearance in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.

Inside the Theory 1, the driver is sat centrally with seats for passengers each side and slightly behind – similar in a way to the Gordon Murray-designed McLaren F1 road car of the 1990s.

Indeed, Ben Payne, Lotus Group’s vice president for design, said the seating arrangement means the car is “as close as you can get to driving a Formula One car.”

He added: “For a product designed for drivers, it instills and builds and inspires confidence.

“From a weight distribution point of view, you can’t get any better.”

If the car’s seating arrangement is unusual, then the seats themselves are straight-up alien-looking.

Built to be completely state-of-the-art, they feature headrests that include individual speakers with active noise-cancelling tech that allows each of the three occupants to be listening to individual media without the others hearing.

Lotus have also used the Theory 1 to show off their ingenious innovations, including ‘Lotuswear’, which is a system of textile-covered robotics that gives the driver feedback through the seat and steering wheel.

This works by using small inflatable pods that send signals for turns or work as buttons.

Another feature is its steer-by-wire, which Lotus says lets drivers adjust how the steering feels and responds.

The fact that the Theory 1 is a concept may relieve many Lotus fans, who feared it would end some 65 years of tradition by naming it something that doesn’t begin with the letter ‘E’ – dating back to the Elite, which was released in 1958.

E is for...

Lotus nearly always name their cars a name beginning with the letter ‘E’ – and it’s all down to a tradition established by the company’s founder, Colin Chapman.

After naming the Lotus Eleven and then the Lotus Elite, Chapman decided to continue the pattern with model names starting with ‘E.’

Over time, this became a distinctive feature of Lotus cars, with popular models following the pattern like the Elan, Elise, Esprit, and Exige.

The exact reason for choosing ‘E’ isn’t entirely clear, but it has since become a recognisable hallmark of the brand.

Of course, there are a few early exceptions, such as the Lotus Seven, as well as a few track-focussed models like the 2-Eleven and 3-Eleven, and special-edition or collaborative motors like the cult favourite Lotus Carlton.

In fact, their earliest models followed a ‘Mark’ naming system, from Mark I to Mark XI.

To avoid confusion with numbers, Chapman renamed the Mark XI as the Lotus Eleven. And the rest is history.

In many ways, it seems the Theory 1 serves as a preview to the brand’s upcoming all-electric sports car that’s set to be released next year.

Known as the Type 135, little else is known about the car that is set to go on sale in 2027, other than it could be priced from around £75,000 and is considered by many to be the long-term successor to the much-loved Elise.

Lotus recently hinted that the Type 135’s release date could be pushed back until battery tech catches up with their ambitions for a smaller, lightweight EV in the same essence of the Elise.

This comes as Renault accidentally leaked the bold new design of a popular model ahead of its official release.

And elsewhere, an iconic sports car from the 1960s that was left untouched in a barn for 43 years has been sold for a very reasonable price on eBay.

Clubs can start to offer pre-contracts to players from January, with the exception being Premier League clubs to other English top-flight aces.

And there could be a host of amazing transfers taking place at the end of the campaign.

Indeed, there are so many free agents available that they could easily make two starting XIs and challenge for top honours.

The first XI is packed with Premier League talent and even boasts several England internationals.

In goal is Bayern Munich and Germany legend Manuel Neuer, who is protected by a magnificent defence featuring former Manchester United captain Harry Maguire.

Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk is the obvious choice to partner him.

While flanking them are Bayern’s Alphonso Davies and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, with both men wanted by Real Madrid.

Further ahead sees a midfield pivot featuring Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich and new Three Lions hero Angel Gomes, who currently plays in France for Lille.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

Man City wizard Kevin De Bruyne is a natural fit for the No10 position.

While he could have Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Al-Ahli’s Neymar on the wings, with Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min leading the line.

However, a second free agent XI also boasts some big names.

Fiorentina’s David de Gea earns a place in goal, with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries and Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy at full-back.

Centre-back sees Bayern Munich’s Eric Dier and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah link up.

While midfield has Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan partnering Arsenal’s Thomas Partey.

A tasty front line sees Man Utd’s Amad Diallo slot in alongside Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi and Bayern’s Leroy Sane.

And that leaves Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo to go up top.
