Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson could end in calls for boxing to be BANNED as ‘things could go badly wrong’, ex-champion fears

JAKE PAUL’S controversial fight with Mike Tyson could end in calls for boxing to be BANNED, ex-world champion Paulie Malignaggi fears.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul faces heavyweight great Tyson on November 15 in a clash scrutinised over the massive age gap.

And former welterweight champ Malignaggi is among those fearing the worst ahead of the Netflix fight.

He told Canada Casino: “Head blows from young, strong guys at Mike’s age aren’t good. When you’re younger, you can handle hits better.

“When you’re older, your body isn’t made for that kind of damage anymore. Things could go badly wrong.

“If something like that happened, people would be calling for the sport to be banned. Personally, I don’t think his fight with Jake Paul should happen.

“He’ll be 58 years old by then. 58 is still 58. We live in a generation that doesn’t understand ageing is a real thing.

“You can show highlights of Mike from the 80s, but the guy stepping into the ring won’t be that same Mike Tyson.”

Paul is 10-1 with only a 2023 points defeat to Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy, 25, blemishing his record.

Tyson retired in 2005 off the back of two dismal defeats and years of trouble outside the ring.

But by 2020, he was reformed and returned for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr – which was nothing more than a glorified sparring session.

That will not be the case – so we’re told – this time around as he prepares to fight Paul in a professionally sanctioned bout.

And Malignaggi added: “Jake Paul might not be world-class, but he’s certainly not a novice. He’s been boxing for about five years.

“After four years of boxing, I won the US National Championships, so Jake’s far from a beginner.

“He’s strong and young. Hitting someone Tyson’s age has serious risks. Tyson wasn’t taking punches well at 36, let alone now.

“If you hit a guy who’s that old, it affects them. Imagine what getting hit by a strong guy like Jake would do to him. I wouldn’t want to find out.”

Abdo joined pundits Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards for the first Champions League action of the new season.

Moments into the show, the 43-year-old revealed she had signed an “exclusive contract” over the summer.

Abdo said, to cheers from the panel: “Yes, with my new husband!”

“Allow me to reintroduce myself. Last name, Abdo. It has to go. S-C-O-T-T. Kate Scott.”

The show went on to show snaps from the couple’s wedding before the panellists each gave Kate a hug.

As Henry finished his embrace with the glamourous anchor, Carragher quipped: “Malik’s not here, is he?”

Earlier this year, Liverpool legend Carragher made an “ill-timed” comment which missed the mark during a live broadcast.

In a skit involving an Arsenal shirt, Abdo stated she wouldn’t wear it on TV because she is “loyal” to her team Man Utd.

Carragher quipped back, saying: “not to Malik”.

Abdo responded: “Why would you even ask that?”

Kate took the comment in good spirits but revealed she had been “hurt” in the studio.

She told iFLTV: “What Jamie said came from nowhere.

“It was just a quick line, it was meant to be funny, sometimes they hit, sometimes they don’t. That one went a little bit sideways.

“I felt a little bit hurt but it is what it is. You move on. We talked about it, we’re all good, nothing really to talk about.”

According to Marca, Ronaldo has spoken to club chiefs and expressed his strong desire to reunite with former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Zidane enjoyed a stunning partnership at Real as together they won the LaLiga title as well as three consecutive Champions League trophies.

However, Al-Nassr look set to snub the Manchester United legend’s recommendation.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Stefano Pioli is set to take charge instead.

Former AC Milan boss Pioli and the Middle Eastern outfit are “on the verge” of finalising a deal.

Zidane was also linked with Al-Nassr last year before Castro replaced Garcia at the helm.

The French tactician reportedly rejected a two-year contract worth €150million (£126m) from Ronaldo‘s side.

Recent reports have also indicated that the legendary midfielder won’t be taking over a job where he doesn’t speak the native language.

That’s why pundits, such as William Gallas, have poured cold water on reports linking Zidane to United.

That would limit Zidane’s options to Spain and his homeland, with rumours suggesting he is eyeing the France job.

The Juventus legend has been a free agent ever since his departure from Real in 2021.
