The list was put together by holiday letting experts from holidaycottages.co.uk and includes a diverse range of locations across the UK to suit every type of holidaymaker.

They looked at the most cost-effective time to book a holiday let, the most popular areas to visit, and the destinations which are most up and coming for an off season break.

The places were then ranked in order based on popularity, affordability, and a variety of things to see and do.

The New Forest in Hampshire deservedly earned the top spot because of its coastal location and many attractions.

Here are some things to get up to during your stay…

Visit the quaint seaside towns and hidden beaches

There are a number of small seaside towns and villages dotted around the New Forest waiting to be visited, such as Milford on Sea.

The village has a beautiful shingle beach, colourful beach huts, stunning views of the Solent, and the impressive Hurst Castle, with its panoramic views across the Needles Passage to the Isle of Wight.

Thanks to its coastal location, there are plenty more beaches to be explored, including Tanners Lane – a small beach with a mixture of sand and pebbles that’s a secret spot for New Forest ponies.

The easiest way to get there is by walking or cycling as there’s no parking.

Enjoy a wide variety of attractions, including Paultons Park and Ringwood Brewery

Paultons Park is the number one family theme park rated on Google, with over 70 exciting rides and set within 140 acres of beautiful parkland on the edge of the New Forest National Park.

It’s also home to the UK’s only Peppa Pig World, with nine fun Peppa-themed rides.

Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway is a 200-acre informal woodland garden, with a narrow-gauge steam railway, a play area, and well-esteemed restaurant.

New Forest Deer Safari at Burley Park allows visitors to get up, close and personal to its red deer, with a 30-minute tractor ride through the park and a chance to feed the deer their daily treat – strawberries and raspberries.

Beer fans can book onto a 90 minute guided tour around the famous Ringwood Brewery, where you can see how it’s all made before enjoying a tasting session in the Pin Bar.

Adventure in the forest

No trip to the New Forest is complete without a walk in the forest.

The New Forest National Park is the perfect place for walking as there’s over 140 miles of trails and footpaths suitable for all ages and abilities.

You don’t need a map as you can follow wooden posts with coloured marker bands. All you have to do is enjoy the incredible views along the way.

Also look out for the famous free-roaming New Forest ponies.

UK airport used by 15,000 passengers every day struck by luggage chaos as tourists left without suitcases for 3 DAYS

HORRIFIED passengers have been left without any luggage when they arrived at their holiday destination.

Unlucky travellers who were preparing to set off on holiday were told there would be some “serious delays” with their luggage.

Passengers at East Midlands Airport were caught in baggage mayhem earlier this week[/caption]

Those leaving the East Midlands Airport, Leicester, on September 15 faced “some delays” which affected multiple airlines.

Operations director at East Midlands Airport Simon Hinchley said: “Unfortunately we experienced a baggage system fault yesterday morning which affected 17 departing flights.

“This caused some delays, and some flights had to leave without passenger luggage on board.”

The 17 flights break down to seven Jet2, five Tui, five Ryanair flights.

While the airport has since apologised, this didn’t stop holidaymakers landing in Alicante, Benidorm, and Lanzarotte without any beachwear.

Other affected destinations were Gerona, Arrecife, Faro, Enfidha, Palma, Dubrovnik, Skiathos, Dalaman, Malaga, Luga and Krakow.

Passengers were told they were “expected” to have their luggage within a day.

This isn’t the first time the airport has faced baggage issues.

It comes as the global IT outtage caused utter chaos, with luggage being checked in by hand.

An X account documenting the incident posted an image of a lengthy queue.

On July 19, the user wrote: “This is the scene at East Midlands Airport as a global IT outtage means every piece of luggage handled by Ryanair and Tui at this airport has to be checked in by hand and recorded on paper.”

The same user then posted an image of five ladies in cowboy hats with the caption: “Half of this hen party didn’t have check in luggage and are in Dublin.”

Another user replied: “Still waiting…..”

In a response to the baggage chaos claims, Simon Hinchley told The Sun: “In the early hours of September 15th we became aware of a fault with one of two baggage belt systems, with the second acting as a contingency in situations like this.

“Unfortunately, the second also developed a fault which is a very rare occurrence. We had engineers on site attempting to fix the whole system, with a view to baggage rejoining flights that had been delayed.

“Ultimately, the decision was taken to allow flights to depart and arrangements made for baggage to follow on, which is normal procedure in circumstances like this.  This affected 17 departing flights.

“While a rare incident, we apologise for the inconvenience and will be reviewing our response to learn any lessons.

“We have worked alongside the airlines to reunite customers with their baggage and the advice remains for customers to deal with their airlines who are responsible for making the arrangements.”

“Baggage for all the affected flights has now left the airport.”

Diddy’s ‘Ghislaine Maxwell’ & ‘right hand’ Kristina Khorram dubbed his ‘gatekeeper’ could be key witness in sex case

SEAN “Diddy” Combs’ chief of staff could hold secrets behind the rapper’s alleged sex crime empire and be a key witness in the case, a source claims.

The disgraced music mogul, 54, was arrested on Monday night following a months-long investigation.

He has been charged with sex trafficking as well as racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

It is alleged Combs “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.”

Now a source has claimed Kristina Khorram – Combs’ chief of staff – could become a main witness in the probe as she was an integral member of his team when his alleged crimes took place.

She has not been accused of any wrongdoing in the criminal case.

Khorram was previously dubbed “the Ghislaine Maxwell to [Diddy’s] Jeffrey Epstein” in a separate lawsuit filed by rapped Lil Rod in February.

Maxwell was jailed in 2022 for recruiting and grooming underage girls for Epstein to abuse.

Khorram, who Combs described as his “right hand”, has not been arrested or charged with any crimes.

A source told the New York Post: “If anybody is gatekeeper, Kristina would know everything.”

Lil Rod’s lawsuit previously alleged Khorram “knowingly and intentionally participated in, perpetrated, assisted, supported, facilitated a sex-trafficking Venture.”

Attorney Erica Wolff told USA Today in August about the suit: “Mr. Jones’ lawsuit is pure fiction—a shameless attempt to create media hype and extract a quick settlement.

“Mr. Jones was not threatened, groomed, assaulted, or trafficked. We look forward to proving – in a court of law – that all of Mr. Jones’s claims are made-up and must be dismissed.”

Khorram joined Bad Boy Entertainment in 2013 and became a manager at Combs Enterprises. She became chief of staff in 2020.

Combs wrote on Facebook in 2021: “She’s been my right hand for the last 8 years and has consistently proven to execute and get s**t done.

“Don’t know how I’d function without her.”

It comes as Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges against him.

He remains in custody on judge’s orders after a $50 million bail bid was rejected.

The rapper is alleged to have used “certain employees” to “carry out, facilitate and cover up his abuse and commercial sex [ring]”.

According to the indictment, “high-ranking supervisors” helped orchestrate “freak-offs” – which Combs called the alleged drug-fuelled sexual performances.

The unsealed indictment reveals Combs allegedly forced victims to have sex with sex workers and recorded the disturbing scenes.

Prosecutors allege: “Freak Offs were elaborate and produced sex performances that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often electronically recorded.”

Documents claim Combs arranged for sex workers to be transported internationally and across state lines for the “freak offs”, which sometimes lasted for multiple days and involved several sex workers.

Prosecutors said that Combs used “the sensitive, embarrassing, and incriminating recordings that he made during Freak Offs as collateral to ensure the continued obedience and silence of the victims.”

The charges also accuse the hitmaker of distributing drugs to victims during the freak offs to keep them “obedient and compliant.”

Victims of the sex acts received IV fluids to recover after the freak offs, the indictment said.

In March of this year, searches of Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles revealed “various Freak Off supplies” including narcotics and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lube.

The rapper’s reputation has been tainted in the past year by several sexual assault lawsuits, a violent surveillance video showing him beating his ex-girlfriend, and the federal sex trafficking probe.

Diddy's downfall

By The U.S. Sun's Senior Reporter Forrest McFarland, who has been reporting on Diddy's legal battles for years

BEFORE Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest on Monday night, it had been highly speculated that the rap star would find himself in custody after he was repeatedly hit with disturbing accusations – and had two of his mansions raided by the feds.

His mounting legal troubles finally came to a head on September 17, when he was charged with three federal counts, including sex trafficking, for allegedly forcing victims to take part in drug-fueled sex parties he called “Freak Offs.”

Hours before his arrest, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed the feds investigating Combs were secretly liaising with Tupac Shakur murder prosecutors on gangland activities.

The development also came after Combs was named 77 times in documents submitted by prosecutors in the Tupac murder case.

Aside from the Tupac probe, Combs was already facing a slew of lawsuits, including one he settled with his ex, Cassie Ventura, after she accused him of rape and abuse.

Disturbing hotel surveillance video from 2016 showed Combs chasing Cassie down and then punching, kicking, and beating her in a hallway.

Two months earlier, in March 2024, two of Combs’ mansions were raided by federal investigators, who seized three AR-15s, drugs, and 1,000 bottles of lube which were part of his “Freak Off” supplies.

In addition to his federal criminal charges, Combs also faces a handful of lawsuits with allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and sex trafficking dating back to the early 1990s.

Music producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones filed one suit in February 2024, claiming Combs forced him to hire sex workers and participate in sex acts while he worked on his latest album.

Combs has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to the federal sex trafficking charges against him, but his battle is far from over.

He faces life in prison if he’s convicted on all counts.

The indictment said that the US government seeks to recover an undetermined amount of money involved in Combs’ alleged crimes.

Since last November, Combs has faced 10 lawsuits, with nine directly accusing him of sexual assault.

horrifying video from 2016 that was unearthed in May showed Combs physically assaulting his girlfriend at the time, Cassie Ventura.

The surveillance footage showed Combs chasing Cassie while she waited for an elevator at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles.

Combs then struck Cassie, threw her on the ground, and kicked her while she lay motionless, the video obtained by CNN showed.

After the video was uncovered, Combs shared an apology in a video posted to Instagram.

“My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” he said.

Recent lawsuits against Sean 'Diddy' Combs

Diddy was hit with a wave of lawsuits in late 2023 and 2024 with allegations of sex trafficking and sexual assault. He has denied all claims against him.

  • November 17, 2023: Cassie, Diddy’s longtime girlfriend, sued him, claiming she endured “a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking” until their relationship ended in 2018. Diddy and Cassie settled the suit the day after it was filed.
  • Diddy was hit with two more lawsuits a week after he settled with Cassie.
  • November 23, 2023: Joi Dickerson accused Diddy of drugging and raping her and filming the attack when she was a 19-year-old college student in January 1991.
  • November 24, 2023: A second unidentified accuser in a separate lawsuit claimed that Diddy and another man sexually assaulted her and a friend in 1990 or 1991, then showed up at her apartment and beat her several days later.
  • December 6, 2023: Diddy was sued again by an unidentified woman who claimed he and two men gang-raped her in 2003 when she was 17 years old.
  • February 26, 2024: Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones, who helped produce Diddy’s most recent album, claimed that the mogul sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him from September 2022 to November 2023 as they worked together.
  • May 21, 2024: Model Crystal McKinney accused Combs of sexually assaulting her after meeting at a Men’s Fashion Week event in New York City in 2003. McKinney claims she was drinking alcohol and smoking weed with Combs and several of his colleagues when she took a hit off a joint that she claims was laced with another drug. McKinney claims she felt woozy, and Combs ordered her to the bathroom, where he allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him.
  • May 23, 2024: April Lampros, 51, claimed in her lawsuit that she met Sean Combs in New York City in 1994 while attending the Fashion Institute of Technology. Combs is accused of drugging and raping Lampros in a hotel after promising to help mentor her in the fashion industry.
  • July 3, 2024: Adria English, an ex-porn star who went by Omunique, accused Diddy of grooming her into sex trafficking in the early 2000s, according to TMZ.

Who are Dominique and Gisele Pelicot’s children Caroline, David and Florian?

IT’S the court case that has shocked the world, as a man stands trial accused of drugging his wife for 72 men to rape her.

As Dominique Pelicot stands trial for alleged sex crimes against Gisele Pelicot, his children Caroline, David, and Florian have been by their mother’s side.

A court has heard how Pelicot allegedly invited men he met online into his home to sexually assault his wife Gisele after slipping anxiety medication into her food to sedate her.

He is said to have then filmed the horrid attacks, which took place over ten years between 2011 and 2020.

The other accused men, whose ages range from 21 to 68, include a counsellor, nurse, fireman, IT worker, prison guard, and a journalist.

In total, the number of attackers is believed to be 72, with a two-year-long investigation unable to identify them all.

The horrific crimes came to light when police seized Pelicot’s mobile phone and laptop, discovering 20,000 videos and photographs.

Many of them were in a folder titled “abuse”, showing various men performing sexual acts on Gisele while she was unconscious.

Daughter’s torment

There was also a file labelled “Around my daughter, naked”, which showed Pelicot’s only daughter Caroline asleep with no clothes on.

A tearful Caroline recalled in court what it felt when she saw the two images for the first time.

She said: “I did not recognise myself, but the police officer pointed out a brown spot on her cheek, like mine.

“There, I discovered myself and I understood that the man who was my father, in whom I had total confidence, who I thought had integrity, who respected his daughter, who was proud of her, who had always encouraged her, I discovered that in fact, my father had photographed me without my knowledge, naked.”

Caroline added: “How do you rebuild yourself from the ashes, when your father is undoubtedly one of the greatest sexual predators of recent years?”

Along with Caroline, Gisele’s sons David and Florian have been by their mother’s side as the trial continues.

The two men have been seen supporting her every time she has arrived in court, as their father stands accused of horrific sex crimes against their mother.

It is reported that David and Florian are both set to testify against Pelicot, but they are yet to do so.

The trial is set to continue until December 2024.

I thought my mum was over Pension Credit limit and would miss out Winter Fuel Payment – Martin Lewis tip made me check

A MARTIN Lewis fan has revealed how a quick check helped her mother realise she was eligible for Pension Credit.

The woman shared how her mum also now qualifies for the Winter Fuel Payment despite her income being over a certain amount.

a man in a blue jacket is talking to another man
PA
Martin Lewis’ MSE shared a story of a woman whose mum now qualifies for benefits[/caption]

Pension Credit is a government benefit made up of two parts, with one designed to top up your weekly income to a minimum amount.

Ordinarily, you have to be earning under around £218 a week if you are single or roughly £333 a week if you are a couple to qualify.

However, you can still qualify if you earn over these amounts and meet certain other criteria like being on disability benefits, you need extra money to cover housing costs or have a certain amount of savings stashed away.

In MoneySavingExpert.com’s latest newsletter, the consumer website shared a story from one woman named Lucinda whose mother now gets Pension Credit despite her income being what she thought was over the weekly limit.

She said: “My mum was just over the threshold, so we didn’t apply, but worried about the Winter Fuel Payment, no free TV licence, cheaper broadband etc.

“Then I saw Martin’s email saying: ‘If you’re only just over, try it anyway.’

“A (long) call to the DWP later and mum told me she’ll get Pension Credit.”

Lucinda went on to explain how her father died earlier this year and money has been “much tighter” for her mum, adding she was “both relieved and thrilled” she qualified for Pension Credit.

Not only is the average Pension Credit claim worth £3,900 a year, it can also open up a host of other perks.

This includes a free TV licence if you are 75 or older, a council tax discount and help with NHS dental treatment.

It also qualifies you for the up to £300 Winter Fuel Payment, after the Government decided to means-test it.

What is Pension Credit and who is eligible?

Pension Credit is a government benefit designed to top up your weekly income if you are a state pensioner and on a low income.

The current state pension age is 66.

There are two parts to the benefit – Guarantee Credit and Savings Credit.

Guarantee Credit tops up your weekly income to £218.15 if you are single or your joint weekly income to £332.95 if you have a partner.

Savings Credit is extra money you can get if you have some savings or your income is above the basic state pension amount – £169.50.

Savings Credit is only available to people who reached state pension age before April 6, 2016.

Usually, you only qualify for Pension Credit if your income is below the £218.15 or £332.95 thresholds.

However, you can sometimes be eligible for Savings Credit or Guarantee Credit depending on your circumstances.

For example, if you are suffering from a severe disability and claiming Attendance Allowance, as well as other benefits, you can get an extra £81.50 a week.

Meanwhile, you can get either £66.29 a week or £76.79 a week for each child you’re responsible and caring for.

The rules behind who qualifies for Pension Credit can be complicated, so the best thing to do is just check.

You can do this by using the Government’s Pension Credit calculator on its website.

Or, you can call the Pension Service helpline on 0800 99 1234 from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Those in Northern Ireland have to call the Pension Centre on 0808 100 6165 from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

It might be worth a visit to your local Citizens Advice branch too – its staff should be able to offer you help for free.

What is the Winter Fuel Payment?

Consumer reporter Sam Walker explains all you need to know about the payment.

The Winter Fuel Payment is an annual tax-free benefit designed to help cover the cost of heating through the colder months.

Most who are eligible receive the payment automatically.

Those who qualify are usually told via a letter sent in October or November each year.

If you do meet the criteria but don’t automatically get the Winter Fuel Payment, you will have to apply on the government’s website.

You’ll qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment this winter if:

  • you were born on or before September 23, 1958
  • you lived in the UK for at least one day during the week of September 16 to 22, 2024, known as the “qualifying week”
  • you receive Pension Credit, Universal Credit, ESA, JSA, Income Support, Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit

If you did not live in the UK during the qualifying week, you might still get the payment if both the following apply:

  • you live in Switzerland or a EEA country
  • you have a “genuine and sufficient” link with the UK social security system, such as having lived or worked in the UK and having a family in the UK

But there are exclusions – you can’t get the payment if you live in Cyprus, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Malta, Portugal or Spain.

This is because the average winter temperature is higher than the warmest region of the UK.

You will also not qualify if you:

  • are in hospital getting free treatment for more than a year
  • need permission to enter the UK and your granted leave states that you can not claim public funds
  • were in prison for the whole “qualifying week”
  • lived in a care home for the whole time between 26 June to 24 September 2023, and got Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance

Payments are usually made between November and December, with some made up until the end of January the following year.

Booby-trapped pagers, robot guns & phone bombs… inside Mossad’s assassination arsenal to wipe out Israel’s enemies

MOSSAD’s arsenal of top secret spy weapons includes robot guns and poison syringes to assassinate Israel’s enemies.

The spy agency yesterday carried out mass sabotage against Hezbollah when it blew up hundreds of pagers carried by the terror group.

With an annual budget of nearly £2.2billion and more than 7,000 staff members, Israeli intelligence officers are seeking revenge for the October 7 terror attack.

Yesterday’s blitz inside Lebanon sent a message to Iran and its proxies that Israel could attack hundreds of people at once.

But the agency can also launch pinpoint strikes to take out key enemies individually.

Most famously Mossad agents captured Nazi Adolf Eichmann from Argentina in 1960 and brought him to Israel to face trial.

Haniyeh hit

In July this year, Israel used a bomb smuggled months earlier into a Tehran guest house to assassinate the leader of Hamas.

Ismail Haniyeh was blown up at around 2am as he slept in one of the of the most secure sites in the Iranian capital.

It was initially unclear how Israel had carried out the attack, with some suspecting a drone had fired a missile.

The strike came after Hezbollah terrorists blasted a football pitch in the Druze town of Majdal Shams in Israel’s occupied Golan Heights – killing 12 young people including children.

Haniyeh met Ayatollah Ali Khamenei just hours before Iran’s Supreme Leader led prayers at his funeral.

Israel announced the next day it had also killed the one-eyed Mohammed Deif, dubbed “The Guest”.

Deif was one of the terrorist architects behind the October 7 attacks that killed 1,200 people in Israel last year.

IDF fighter jets took out the terrorist mastermind in a “precise, targeted” strike on a compound in Gaza on July 13 after spies had tracked him.

Ultrasound poison syringes

In 2010, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh – one of the founders of Hamas’ military wing – was assassinated in his hotel room in Dubai.

A team of several dozen agents flew to Dubai on false passports, wearing wigs, outfits and false moustaches to disguise themselves as tourists and tennis players.

Hotel CCTV shows Mahmoud al-Mabhouh being followed to his room before he was killed

CCTV footage of the some 29 suspects who tracked him showed two of them following him through the hotel to observe his room number and the one opposite.

The suspected Mossad agents allegedly used a high-tech ultrasound tool to inject poison into Mabhouh’s neck without even breaking the skin.

He was dead by 9pm that evening.

Poisoning has also been a preferred modus operandi, as it is quick and lethal in nearly all cases.

In 2007 long-time Mossad target Ardeshir Hosseinpour was believed to have been killed by poison gas amid fears he was spearheading the production of weapons grade plutonium.

Remote controlled machine gun

In 2020, the so-called “Kidon Unit” inside Mossad assassinated Dr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the mastermind of Iran’s suspected nuclear weapons programme,

Fakhrizadeh’s was killed with a remote control machine gun mounted to the back of a car – which was smuggled into Iran and assembled piece-by-piece.

Debris was scattered over an area of 800ft following the ambush

A team of gunmen was also reported to be at the scene

Mossad agents used the remote controlled gun to to fire 13 hyper accurate shots that hit the scientist directly, the Jewish Chronicle reported.

Fakhrizadeh was not the first Iranian scientist to be killed by Israel.

In 2010 Iranian nuclear scientist Masoud Masoud Alimohammadi was killed  by a booby-trapped motorbike parked near his car which exploded while he was leaving for work.

Majid Shahriari, a professor at Iran’s Shahid Beheshti University was killed a year later after an assassin attached a car bomb and detonated it from a distance.

Iranian nuclear scientist Dr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was killed by Mossad as he was driving

In 2011 Iranian nuclear scientist Darioush Rezaeinejad was shot five times and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of his home.

Magnetic bombs are a key weapon of choice for Mossad agents, as they can be detonated from afar.

The devices are intended to kill the occupants of cars without killing those nearby, which traditional car bombs often do.

In 1996 the unit notoriously blew up the mobile phone of Hamas master bomb-maker Yahya Ayyash when he answered it after managing to secretly pack a high explosive called RDX and a remote controlled detonator.

In 2012, Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan was killed by a magnetic bomb attached to the bottom of his car.

Some agents have even revealed techniques include using spare tyres to hide remote controlled bombs and poisoned toothpaste that takes months to kill its victims.

Each operation from elite Mossad agents can only be carried out with the approval of the Prime Minister.

Once approved, the operation is sent for planning and execution, which can take months or years, depending on the case.

Despite hundreds of documented executions, Israel has never once admitted to being behind the list of deaths – all of whom were labelled as “enemies of the state”.

Israel or Mossad is yet to comment on yesterday’s sabotage attack.

Who was Hamas leader assassinated in July?

By Ellie Doughty, Foreign News Reporter

Ismail Haniyeh, one of the founding members of the terror group, unflinchingly represented the bloodthirsty clan for decades, even past the death of his own children.

The 62-year-old was responsible for running Hamas’ political operations from Doha, Qatar’s capital.

Born in a refugee camp in northern Gaza, he lead the group through several wars with Israel and served as a fundamental power player for the cult.

Over the last ten months he had been responsible for conducting ceasefire talks, mediated by Qatar, Egypt and the US.

He survived an Israeli assassination attempt in 2003, before the IDF took out his mentor – the founder of Hamas itself Sheik Ahmed Yassin – in 2004.

Standing outside a hospital in Gaza at the time, the man who would become one of Hamas’ principal leaders urged people not to cry but to focus on revenge instead.

By 2006 he was working as the leader of Hamas in Gaza, a position now held by Israel’s number one enemy – Yahya Sinwar.

He moved to Qatar in 2017 when he was named as the group’s new political leader.

The group was trying to change its image at the time as it made bids across the international stage for more influence.

Haniyeh represented the Iran-backed terror proxy in Qatar, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran and Egypt.

His ruthless approach to furthering the Hamas agenda would overrule even the assassination of his own children and grandchildren years later.

In April this year an Israeli airstrike killed three of Haniyeh’s sons and four of his grandchildren.

In June, Hamas claimed his sister and her family were also killed by an Israeli strike.

Haniyeh simply said at the time: “We shall not give in, no matter the sacrifices.”

He added that he had lost dozens of family members over years of war between Hamas and Israel.

The terror boss was given news of his children’s deaths while on a hospital visit. After hearing the news, he continued to tour the building as normal.

Haniyeh spent time inside Israeli prisons in the 1980s and 1990s.

By 1988 he was among the founding members of Hamas, working under Yassin.

His assassination serves as a fundamental blow to Hamas – with leaders dubbing it a “treacherous Zionist raid” on Wednesday morning.

World’s largest car brand to finally release hot hatchback to take on the Volkswagen Golf R after years of fans’ begging

THE world’s largest car company is set to release a hot hatch to rival the VW Golf R after years of fans begging for it to arrive.

The model has already taken the US by storm but now appears to have been confirmed for a UK debut.

The Toyota Corolla has been a staple on UK roads for years, with the car on sale here on and off since 1976.

Acting as the hatchback counterpart to the long-since discontinued Crown, it offers plenty of luxury and looks for a very reasonable price.

The modern base model Corolla is actually produced at the Japanese firm’s plant in Derbyshire, which helps it avoid import fees.

However, petrolheads have been pining for years for the souped-up GR version to make its way to these shores.

The hot variant is only produced in Japan and marketed in Asia and North America.

It has already proved a hit in the States, with strong sales figures year on year.

And it now looks like Toyota is prepping the model for a European arrival.

According to Autocar, a prototype Corolla GR has been spotted testing at the world-famous Nurburgring in western Germany.

While the ring offers anyone the chance to hop on track and set a lap, it also plays host to an extensive network of testing tracks closely mimicking European driving conditions.

The version seen at the track is also the right-hand drive model, which is only used in countries like the UK where driving on the left is standard.

While this is the configuration sold in Japan, it would seem like overkill for a Japanese brand to send a car over to Germany just to test it for the domestic market.

Even more intriguingly, there is soon to be a gap in Toyota’s lineup this side of the Pacific as new EU safety regulations will mean the end of the road for the GR86.

All this together indicates that the Corolla GR could be on the way.

Toyota was quick to point out that “all major car manufacturers test their biggest global products at the Nürburgring” but refused to deny that the model could be coming to Europe.

If it does though, Autocar estimates that, based on the price of the standard Corolla in the UK, it could clock in at over £50,000.

It comes after a classic car used in the last ever Grand Tour saw a surge in interest, with plenty available at bargain prices.
