Israel smashes Iran plot to ASSASSINATE Netanyahu as smirking ‘traitor’, 73, who ‘demanded $1m for hit’ is pictured
ISRAEL today claimed to have smashed an Iranian plot to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
An Israeli civilian was arrested last month amid claims he was recruited by Iran to assassinate Netanyahu, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant or Shin Bet intelligence chief, Ronen Bar.
Israel has foiled an Iranian plot to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu[/caption] Moti Maman, 73, had been smuggled into Iran twice to hone deadly plans[/caption]But Shin Bet agents and police unearthed the plot and discovered alleged traitor Moti Maman, 73, had been smuggled into Iran twice to hone deadly plans.
The would-be assassin – said to have demanded £750,000 ($1 million) to carry out a hit – was indicted today and is said to be assisting Shin Bet interrogators.
Investigators say the Jewish Israeli civilian was a businessman who lived for lengthy periods in Turkey, where he befriended Turkish and Iranian nationals.
In April 2024, the suspect agreed – through the mediation of Turks Andrey Aslan and Junayd Aslan – to meet with a rich businessman living in Iran named only as Eddy.
In May the Israeli agreed to be smuggled into Iran via a land crossing near the eastern Turkish city of Van and met Eddy and an Iranian security agent named only as Khwaja.
The prospective hitman was then offered deals to carry out missions in Israel for the Iranian regime.
The task initially included sending money or a handgun to specified locations, taking photos of crowded public areas, and threatening other Israeli civilians said to be working for Iran.
In August, Moti returned to Iran a second time, crossing from Turkey hidden inside a truck, according to the investigation.
And at this meeting at Eddy’s house, Iranian intelligence officials asked him to “advance assassination attacks” on Netanyahu and top aides, Shin Bet said.
Iranian intelligence officials also suggested assassinating other senior officials, including former prime minister Naftali Bennett.
Shin Bet said the plan was intended to avenge Israel’s hidden bomb assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July.
According to the investigation, Maman asked for $1 million in advance before carrying out any of the tasks but ended up taking a downpayment of £4,200 (Euro 5,000).
Maman is now also being quizzed over further Iranian requests to place money at various locations in Israel for others who are being operated by Iran.
Other plans suggested were for Maman to locate Russians or Americans and task them with assassinating Iranian dissidents in Europe and the US, and to recruit a Mossad double agent.
Mamam – pictured smiling in custody yesterday in brown prison-issue clothing – was arrested and questioned last month but the detention was only made public today/yesterday.
His arrest is yet another blow to Iran and threatens to lift the lid on their network of agents operating inside Israel.
It was announced hours after the second wave of booby-trap pager and walkie-talkie on Iran’s Hezbollah allies in Lebanon left 32 dead and injured thousands.
The Repair Shop returns to screens but with a major change following Jay Blades court case
THE Repair Shop has returned to screens after Jay Blades’ court case, but with a major change.
The award-winning BBC One series was pulled off air after star presenter Jay was charged with controlling and coercive behaviour.
The Repair Shop has returned to screens with a big change[/caption]Since then Jay has resigned from a number of charities, including the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust.
The 54-year-old has also deleted his social media pages.
But for fans of The Repair Shop, they were left delighted as the series returned to BBC One on Wednesday night.
However, Jay Blades was noticeably absent as a Beeb continuity announcer informed viewers there was a change to the previously billed episode.
Instead, his co-star Dominic Chinea was at the helm of the famous barn.
A show source previously said: “The Beeb won’t feature any new shows in which he appears until it is clear how legal proceedings conclude.”
During the episode, viewers watched as a woman whose mother was killed in a house fire brought her teddy bear that survived the blaze.
She enlisted the show’s help to restore the burnt bear, which holds significant sentimental value.
Viewers at home were reduced to tears, with one posting on social media: “I don’t think I’ve ever watched an episode of #TheRepairShop and not bawled my eyes out.”
A second wrote: “Damn you #TheRepairShop! Gets me every time! That teddy bear.”
“My goodness, how brave was the young lady with the bear? The rest of us, meanwhile, are in bits. Joyous television,” said a third.
Earlier this week The Repair Shop bosses dropped a huge hint about the future of the show.
Applications for the 14th series have now opened, with members of the public invited to apply.

Domino’s dips, meal deal sandwiches and pasta among 50 products urgently recalled over ‘health risk’ fears
DOZENS of dips, meal deal sandwiches and pasta salads have been recalled over fears they could pose a ‘health risk’ to some.
The 50 products urgently pulled off shop shelves may contain peanuts that aren’t declared on the label, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned in an alert.
The items could be dangerous to any with nut allergy, putting them at risk of a dangerous allergic reaction.
Sold under several different brand names and across a range of stores, all the recalled dips, sandwiches and salads contain mustard powder, which may have traces of peanuts.
“This means these products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts,” the FSA said.
“If you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy to peanuts, do not eat them,” it added.
Two Dominos dip flavours are among the recalled items: the Dominos Garlic & Herb Dip, as well as the Honey & Mustard one.
Other sauces on the recall list include the Carlos Takeaway Garlic & Herb Dip, sold at Aldi.
There’s also the SPAR Onion and Garlic Dip and their Sour Cream and Chive Dip.
Sold in convenience stores and off-licences, a number of SPAR sandwiches, wraps and pasta salads were pulled from shop shelves too.
Food can be recalled for a number of reasons, for example due to contamination with pathogens like listeria or salmonella that could give you food poisoning, or because of manufacturing faults, such as plastic or metal being found in the product.
Incorrect or missing allergen information can also lead to a recall, FSA guidance states.
When products are recalled, retailers remove them from shop shelves and ask customers to return them to the shop they bought them at for a full refund.
Other items included on the recent recall alert that may contain traces of peanuts include Fazilas wraps and Clayton Park sandwiches.
Peanut allergies are particularly common, affecting about one in 50 children in the UK and increasing in recent decades, according to Allergy UK.
The signs of an allergic reaction and anaphylaxis
SYMPTOMS of an allergy usually occur within minutes of contact with with the offending food or trigger, but they can also come on up to one hour later.
Most allergic reactions are mild but they can also be moderate or severe.
Anaphylaxis is the most severe form of allergic reaction which can be life threatening.
Mild to moderate symptoms include:
- Itchy mouth, tongue and throat
- Swelling of lips, around the eyes or face
- Red raised itchy rash (often called nettle rash, hives or urticaria)
- Vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea
- Runny nose and sneezing
Severe symptoms of anaphylaxis include:
- Swelling of your throat and tongue
- Difficulty breathing or breathing very fast
- Difficulty swallowing, tightness in your throat or a hoarse voice
- Wheezing, coughing or noisy breathing
- Feeling tired or confused
- Feeling faint, dizzy or fainting
- Skin that feels cold to the touch
- Blue, grey or pale skin, lips or tongue – if you have brown or black skin, this may be easier to see on the palms of your hands or soles of your feet
Anaphylaxis and its symptoms should be treated as a medical emergency.
Follow these steps if you think you or someone you’re with is having an anaphylactic reaction:
- Use an adrenaline auto-injector (such as an EpiPen) if you have one – instructions are included on the side of the injector.
- Call 999 for an ambulance and say that you think you’re having an anaphylactic reaction.
- Lie down – you can raise your legs, and if you’re struggling to breathe, raise your shoulders or sit up slowly (if you’re pregnant, lie on your left side).
- If you have been stung by an insect, try to remove the sting if it’s still in the skin.
- If your symptoms have not improved after 5 minutes, use a 2nd adrenaline auto-injector.
Do not stand or walk at any time, even if you feel better.
Sources: Allergy UK, NHS
It usually develops in early childhood but, occasionally, can appear in later life.
Peanut allergies tends to be persistent and only approximately one in five children outgrow their allergy, usually by the age of 10.
If you eat peanuts and have an allergy to the nut, symptoms tend to come on quickly, Anaphylaxis UK says.
Mild to moderate symptoms may include:
- A red raised rash (known as hives or urticaria) anywhere on the body
- A tingling or itchy feeling in the mouth
- Swelling of lips, face or eyes
- Stomach pain or vomiting
But some people may develop a more serious allergic reaction, called anaphylaxis.
This can affect the heart rhythm and blood pressure and cause difficulty breathing.
In some cases, anaphylaxis symptoms lead to collapse and unconsciousness and, on rare occasions, can be fatal – it’s important to know how to recognise them and act quickly.
If you think you or your child may be allergic to peanuts, see your GP who can refer you to a specialist allergy clinic.
It’s important to get a referral even if the symptoms were mild because it can be hard to tell if future allergic reactions could be more serious.
Dominos previously urged those with a peanut allergy to dispose of the dips mentioned on the recall alert and avoid consuming them.
The fast-food chain apologised for any concern this may cause and recommended that customers with queries visit their contact form here.
A Domino’s spokesman said: “At Domino’s Pizza, the quality of our products and the safety of our customers is the highest priority, particularly when it comes to allergens.
“We have become aware that some of our Garlic & Herb and Honey & Mustard dip may contain traces of peanut.
“This issue may impact both our 100g ‘Big Dip’ pots and the smaller, 25g, pots we provide with our pizzas.
“If you DO HAVE A PEANUT ALLERGY, please dispose of the dips and do not consume them.
If you DO NOT have a peanut allergy, no further action is required.”

Horrifying moment Married At First Sight groom cruelly slams bride as ‘not his type’ SECONDS after meeting at the altar
A MARRIED At First Sight groom will cruelly slam his bride as ‘not his type’ just seconds after meeting her at the altar.
Adam Aveling, 33, complains that Polly Sellman, 28, isn’t been what he’d been “expecting” after they come face-to-face during tonight’s episode of the E4 show.
A MAFS groom will cruelly slam his bride as ‘not his type’ at the altar[/caption] Adam Aveling complains that Polly Sellman isn’t been what he’d been “expecting”[/caption]While the careers advisor compliments him on his teeth and aftershave, barber Adam fails to return the gesture – which prompts one of her relatives to brand him “awkward”.
In a clip shared exclusively with The Sun, they say: “I am a little bit disappointed that he hasn’t complimented her. Just awkwardness and silence.”
In a piece-to-camera, Polly raves about her husband-to-be being “very attractive” with a “beefy” physique and “nice haircut”.
She gushes: “I do fancy him,” but Adam’s thoughts couldn’t be more different.
He admits: “The initial attraction’s not 100% there. She’s not my usual type. 10 out of 10 for me would be petite, brunette, dark features, tan. She’s not what I expected.”
Attendees are seen gasping and exchanging shocked glances as the scene is captured by camera crews.
But he’s not the only groom to have served their bride with a brutal insult this week.
Last night, viewers watched in horror as Caspar Todd, 34, told Emma Barnes, 31, he didn’t find her “curves” attractive.
The newlyweds sat down for a chat following a full 24 hours of being married.
Emma told him that she’d had a “fabulous” first day and then asked how he was feeling.
But a despondent Caspar told her: “I’ve been struggling, I don’t know if you’ve felt it. But I haven’t felt that spark I was hoping to feel.”
Trying to gain some clarity, Emma asked: “What started off those feelings?”
Caspar admitted that some of the things Emma did on their wedding day reminded him of his sister.
A confused Emma said: “What did I do?”
He explained: “Watching you and her laugh together, there’s an element and sort of mannerisms – I’m equating one with the other and it’s not good.”
Keen to get to know Caspar better, Emma then asked what his “usual type” was.
He then brutally put her down by saying: “I’ve rarely gone for the curvier person,” leaving his bride gobsmacked.
She replied: “Do you think I look sexy tonight?”
A panicked Caspar was left breathing heavily as Emma asked: “But you don’t think I’m sexy?”
Caspar bluntly replied: “No.”
Emma went on: “So you didn’t fancy me and you don’t fancy me, right?”
“Not currently, no, let’s be honest,” Caspar admitted.

Frank Warren forced to deny rumours Daniel Dubois has sensationally SPLIT with trainer just hours before Joshua fight
FRANK WARREN has poured cold water on the rumours that Daniel Dubois’ camp is in crisis and blamed concerns on the flu.
Ahead of his heavyweight world title war with 34-year-old Anthony Joshua, respected trainer Don Charles and first-class second Ian Duberry have been absent from the extravagant media events.
Dubois hit the pads with assistant trainer Kieran Farrell in the absence of Charles[/caption]Social media on Wednesday night was brimming with rumours that Dubois’ manager and dad Stan had rowed with Charles and the new team was ripped up.
But Dynamite Dan’s promoter has extinguished the fuse and revealed the Pug Gym team is laid low with a nasty dose of the flu and they are wisely shielding their star student.
AJ’s trainer Ben Davison has also avoided the limelight at the grand arrivals and the media workouts.
But the Harlow trainer has been spotted keeping a low profile on the periphery, which he prefers.
Charles – who has worked wonders in the corner for Dubois in his last two wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic – has not been spotted at all.
At Wednesday’s dummy training session for the cameras, AJ shadow boxed with unknown kids from his beloved Finchley ABC.
But Dubois got a proper sweat on with a decent pads session with assistant trainer Kieran Farrell.
If Charles – who rose to fame as Derek Chisora’s earliest trainer – appears at Thursday’s press conference smelling of vapour rub, then Dubois fans can grow in confidence that their man could spring an upset.

But if Dubois cuts a lonely figure again – after already being pulled out of the Peacock Gym and Shane McGuigan’s stable – it will make AJ’s assignment to become a three-time world champion look even easier.
When SunSport visited the Pug gym earlier this month and caught a couple of excellent final spars, Dubois raved about his new Borehamwood set-up.
But he made it clear that his father remains the driving – yet for many divisive – force on his career,
He told us: “My dad gives me an extra boost We are a partnership and a team, he knows the words that get to me and help me.
“When I look over into my corner and he’s there, it gives me that kick up the a***.
“It makes me fight even harder, he makes me fight to win, he makes me give it my all.”
Joshua vs Dubois fight predictions
THIS weekend Wembley will witness one of the biggest all-British fights of all-time.
But who will emerge victorious under the famous arch? Some of the biggest names in boxing have been having their say…
Oleksandr Usyk: “My favourite is Anthony Joshua but I am very bad at predictions. But I will predict Anthony Joshua.”
Dillian Whyte: “I just think that it’s one of those fights where it is a genuine 50/50 fight in my opinion.”
Joe Joyce: “I was initially edging with Joshua but I don’t know, Dubois is coming on.”
Frazer Clarke: “As heavy-handed as Dubois is and as good a fighter as he’s becoming, I still have to go for Joshua.”
Francis Ngannou: “Even though Joshua lost against Usyk twice and Dubois fought Usyk and almost knocked him down and almost won, I would still give this to Joshua.”
