I’m a home expert & my six food storage tips will make your groceries last longer – it’ll save you so much money

A HOME expert has shared the storage hacks that help to prolong the shelf life of your groceries.

She explained the reasoning behind each of her food tips, including the best part of the fridge for your milk.

In her viral video, TikTok user Caroline (@neat.caroline) talked her followers through each of her grocery hacks.

For her first tip, she recommended moving your carton of milk from the fridge door.

While most people tend to keep the food staple there for convenience, Caroline explained that there are cooler sections of the fridge that will keep your milk fresher for longer.

She suggested storing it on the upper or middle shelves as this is where the temperature is coldest.

Caroline also advised her audience to keep nuts in airtight containers in the fridge.

She explained that this simple move can keep the food item fresh for up to six months.

Next, she suggested wrapping your cheese in parchment paper before storing it.

According to the expert, this technique allows the cheese to breathe while absorbing moisture, preventing mould growth.

Caroline also recommended opting for salted butter if you are someone who enjoys it at room temperature.

She explained that this is because the grocery item lasts longer than the unsalted kind.

For her final suggestion, Caroline revealed the best way to store ginger roots.

“Place ginger in a plastic bag with the air pushed out in a crisper drawer,” she advised.

“This will keep in oxygen and moisture, prolonging freshness.”

Her followers shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.

“Thanks! I learned multiple new things! Also, I keep ginger in the freezer so it is easy to grate,” wrote one viewer.

What foods should you ALWAYS keep in the fridge?

THE 'King of Bread' Paul Hollywood has said you should never keep bread in the fridge. But what foods SHOULD you store in there?

According to EUFIC, The European Food Information Council, these are some of the main foods you should always ensure are kept in the fridge.

  • Apples
  • Berries
  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Eggs (boiled or unboiled)
  • Fish (cooked or raw)
  • Fresh herbs
  • Lemons
  • Meat (cooked or raw)
  • Milk
  • Oranges
  • Pickles (if opened)
  • Salad leaves
  • Tomatoes
  • Yoghurts

“I’m going to try the cheese wrapped in parchment paper. Good tip,” said another person.

“The fruit hack is helpful, thank you!” commented a third impressed person.

“Oh my God, [the] raspberry hack changes the game,” wrote another TikTok user.

“My fruit lasts so much longer in the glass, I was blown away,” said one viewer.

“Great tips! Going to be doing a lot of these. Thank you!” commented another follower.

‘Such a cute dress,’ fashion fans cry as they race to M&S to get their hands on the ‘perfect’ £22 Autumn frock

In her viral video, TikTok user Cat Patterson (@catlpatterson) posed in the frock, before demonstrating two ways of styling it.

“I know you all love leopard print as much as I do,” she told her followers.

Cat showed off the £22 Chiffon Printed V-Neck Midi-Waisted Dress from M&S.

For her first example of how she’d wear it, the fashion fan decided to dress it down.

She added “pops of pink” to the outfit beginning with an oversized dusty rose jumper.

Cat accessorised with a bright pink baseball cap, a pink handbag, pink socks and pink trainers.

“I just think leopard print and pink is the cutest vibe,” she explained to her audience.

She also modelled an alternative look, layering a sports jersey-like slogan top over the dress.

“It’s giving me American football vibes,” Cat said.

The TikToker “elevated” the look with a pair of red flats and a faux black leather handbag.

She also used a hairband hack to create a cropped look for the oversized tee.

Cat explained that the extra step helped to “pull the look together a little bit.”

For her final touch, she added a pair of bright red sunglasses to her outfit.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the dress in the comments section.

“Love!!! Such a cutesy dress,” wrote one impressed follower.

The must-have colour for autumn wardrobes

WHEN it comes to colour, one in particular has dominated the A/W runways.

Maroon has been seen on big-name designer catwalks such as Tom Ford, Gucci, Valentino and Versace, to name a few.

Perfect to mix with your current wardrobe, don’t think that this deep shade is just for the colder months.

It’s also great to wear at this time of year and one you can continue wearing throughout the rest of the year and beyond.

Fabulous fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend said: “There’s something about maroon’s deep, rich colour that instantly makes you look well put-together and expensive.”

“That dress is fabulous. I love the first fit,” agreed another viewer.

“Absolutely love these! I think the first outfit is my favourite, can’t go wrong with leopard print and pink,” commented a third person.

“Oh I LOVE that dress!!” wrote another TikTok user.

Cat described the look at the perfect transitional piece for the start of autumn.

She added that the price point was an added bonus.

Rebecca Sudwarts, a fashionista who is five foot eight and in between a size 14 and 16, was lucky enough to get her hands on a range of must-have Autumn/Winter buys, as well as a dress that’s super flattering.

Not only this, but she also nabbed a leather jacket and a coat that are perfect for the change in season.

The curvy fashion fan, who is from the UK, took to social media to share her honest thoughts on her new F&F haul, leaving many very impressed.

Posting online, the ex Senior Fashion Buyer kicked off her haul with a pair of leopard print jeans.

Thrilled with her denims, she beamed: “We know leopard is everywhere, it’s really having a moment.

“I must say, I really do like this print and the denim is really nice, it’s got a slight stretch to it.

“I really like that it’s high-rise and slim, it’s a nice change from the wide leg that seems to be everywhere at the moment.”

She paired the jeans with a bodysuit, as she advised: “Also if you haven’t checked out F&F’s bodysuits, definitely try. They’re a great basic to have in your wardrobe and they come in loads of different options.”

We then saw Rebecca in a pair of blue denim jeans, which she paired with a leather jacket, as she added: “Also saw these really nice, turn-up, wide leg jeans.

“I really love this jacket, it’s got so much detail on it, it’s a really cool block, almost like a vintage block.”

Following this, the fashionista modelled her new coat, which cost her £49.50, as she explained: “Love this coat, it is so warm.

“It is so premium looking, it’s got a hood as well.

“How amazing would this be in the winter? It would really keep you warm.

“I absolutely love the colour and think it’s a great price.”

Reasons to shop supermarket fashion

When looking for new pieces to add to your seasonal wardrobe, or update your basics, there's no need to spend hours walking around clothes shops, or scrolling online. Just pick up a dress or two alongside your fruit and veg...

They’re convenient – Chances are you visit your supermarket more times than a shopping centre or high street.

It’s affordable – For basics  to more fashion-led pieces, supermarkets are leading the way for budget fashion that doesn’t look cheap.

They’re more on-trend that you think – With a customer database larger than the average high street store, shops like ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are able to cater to the markets and predict trends in a lot more areas than just food supply.

They fit well – Fits and lengths often come with a little more modesty in mind. Fabrics are often highly practical too—think plenty of 100% cotton that can be thrown into the washing machine without thought.

Rebecca then modelled a pair of £19.50 faux leather leggings and a striped jumper, as she expressed: “A nice big baggy jumper and some leather-look leggings.

“They’re very generous, super high waisted so really comfy and the jumper is just £16 and I love it because it’s a bum cover.”

To finish off the haul, the content creator showed off her new dress, which she described as “stunning”.

How has Tesco's F&F upped its game

By Fabulous’ Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend

ZARA has become a high street staple in recent years thanks to its hot-off-the-catwalk designs and affordable prices.
But recently those prices have risen with the brand’s popularity.
However, if you are looking for high fashion inspired outfits with low price tags you needn’t drag yourself to your local shops, just head to the supermarket instead.
F&F has come a long way from selling a few backs of T-shirts and fluffy dressing gowns and is now a must have shopping destination for thousands.
They produce good quality, long lasting and on trend clothes that puts others to shame.
F&F is filled with Zara dupes and other looks inspired by our favourite shops that will set you back less than £50 – and you can get them while you pick up your dinner.
I for one love F&F denim, it’s durable, fits really well and has all the best silhouettes.
So even if you’re not looking for reasonable prices but just want good clothes, get yourself to Tesco.

Thrilled with the trendy dress, Rebecca concluded: “It’s an amazing shape, a v-neck and it pulls you in at your waist and skims over your tummy.

“I know I’ll get so much wear out of this in the winter.

“At this point I’m prepared to give F&F all my money.”

FASHION FANS REACT

The Instagram clip, which was posted under the username @stylingwithrebecca, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and has since amassed 1.6 million views.

Fashion fans were left beaming with the new buys and many flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.

I’ve been a vet for 10 years & here’s the dog breeds I wouldn’t own – including the little devil pooch that is so sassy

A VET has revealed the ten dog breeds she would never own, including the small pooch that’s stubborn and sassy.

Saddy Baddy, a woman who has worked as a vet for 10 years, shared her thoughts on all breeds from the American Akita to the Dalmatian, and explained why she would never get a Pomeranian or a Basset Hound.

A senior Golden Retriever lays on an examination table as a veterinarian preforms a routine check-up. The vet is wearing blue scrubs and has a jar of treats close by to reward his obedience.

She shared her candid thoughts on the dogs that are prone to health issues, as well as the breeds that she thinks are ‘stubborn’ and ‘possessive’[/caption]

According to this animal lover, Dalmatians are ‘not very social with those outside of their family’[/caption]

Posting on social media, the vet highlighted the breeds that are prone to health issues, as well as the dogs that need a lot of training and socialisation.

Sharing her candid thoughts, the vet said: “Dog breeds I LOVE but wouldn’t own as a Vet Professional of 10 years.”

She explained: “These are MY personal opinions based on MY personal experiences after working in the field for a decade.

“Everyone is entitled to their own opinions based on their own experiences. All dogs are good dogs in their own unique ways.”

First of all, the vet explained that she wouldn’t own an American Akita, as they need lots of early training and socialisation and are prone to same sex aggression with other animals.

Not only this, but she described such dogs as ‘fearsome’ and ‘protective of their people’ and claimed that they can be ‘very powerful’.

When it comes to Dachshunds, the animal lover claimed that she wouldn’t ever own one as a result of their ‘skeletal structures’ which she claimed ‘basically guarantees orthopaedic issues’.

As well as this, she described this breed as ‘stubborn and sassy’ and suggested that they can be ‘little devils when it comes to grooming’.

Where Belgian Tervurens are concerned, the vet explained that they are known to be ‘possessive’ of their people and need lots of daily challenges to keep their mental and physical needs satisfied.

Not only this, but they are also prone to hip and elbow malformation and epilepsy.

In addition to this, the animal expert explained that she wouldn’t own a Dalmatian, as she explained that whilst they have ‘lots of energy’, they are ‘not very social with those outside of their family’.

As well as this, she claimed that they can be ‘territorial’ and are also prone to getting bladder stones, blindness and deafness.

The vet continued and explained that she also wouldn’t own a Basset Hound, because they are very prone to ear infections and skin issues and can be ‘stubborn’.

Most popular dog breeds in the UK

Dog experts, Tug-E-Nuff, surveyed the UK to find out their favourite dog breeds, here's the top ten.

  1. Labrador Retriever
  2. Border Collie
  3. English Cocker Spaniel
  4. Cockapoo
  5. Golden Retriever
  6. German Shepherd Dog
  7. Staffordshire Bull Terrier
  8. Springer Spaniel
  9. Jack Russell Terrier
  10. Labradoodle

She then got candid on Bernese Mountain Dogs and claimed that whilst they are ‘lovable’, there’s ‘not much going on in the brain department’.

She claimed that they are strong dogs, but they often suffer from separation anxiety and can have a lot of health issues.

Additionally, the vet claimed that Alaskan Malamutes are an extremely ‘vocal’ breed and whilst they are powerful, they can have very independent natures, and as a result, she wouldn’t own one.

When it comes to Pomeranians, whilst they might be adorable, this vet recognised that they  need regular professional grooming and have a high pitched yap.

Dog Owner Guide: All You Need To Know

Owning and keeping a dog happy and healthy is not only a long-term financial, but a lifetime commitment.

She claimed that they are also prone to trachea collapse and will likely lose half their teeth by age of just five.

Not only this, but the vet also revealed that she wouldn’t own a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, as they have an ‘insane’ amount of energy, as well as anxiety and health issues including thyroid, cardiac and liver shunt.

Finally, the vet shared that she wouldn’t get a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, as they are prone to heart and eye issues and need a lot of coat maintenance.

DOG LOVERS REACT

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @saddy542020, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 45,200 views.

Many dog lovers were divided by the vet’s claims and were keen to share their thoughts in the comments.

One person said: “Nooo I love my Basset Hound.”

Another added: “I had 3 Dachshunds – they made it to 13, 15, and 19 with no severe back issues. One slipped a disk but it fixed itself with time and rest.”

A third commented: “Cavvies are worth all of it!”

Whilst someone else wrote: “I have an Akita mix….that breed is not for everyone.”

Watch Micah Richards’ hilarious reaction after Arsenal hero David Raya reveals favourite CBS pundit in awkward interview

MICAH RICHARDS celebrated a big win in the Champions League… with the help of Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

Richards, who never made it past the last-16 of Europe’s elite club competition, was appearing on CBS Sports alongside Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry and newly-married presenter Kate Scott – formerly Abdo.

Following Arsenal‘s game against Atalanta, which ended in a 0-0 draw thanks to a stunning double save from Raya which included a save from the penalty spot, the Spaniard appeared on the show.

During the interview, former Manchester City star Richards asked Raya who his favourite member of the CBS crew was.

In reply, Raya said: “Oh you put me right on the spot there.

“I like you all, but for me I think Micah takes it, he’s quite funny.”

This sparked a jubilant celebration from the 36-year-old, who then proceeded to get up before running over to the screen where Raya was and “hugging” and “kissing” him.

Richards also shouted “I love you”, towards the goalkeeper.

Fans loved Richards’ reaction, with one saying: “Who doesn’t love Big Meeks.”

A second said: “Big meeks all the way.”

Arsenal ratings vs Atalanta as Raya saves uninspiring Gunners in Italy

ARSENAL had some David Raya heroics to thank for a points in the Champions League opener.

Raya’s stunning double save just after the break spared Thomas Partey’s blushes after the midfielder gave away a penalty.

And that was the closest either side came to a goal in the 0-0 draw.

Here’s how SunSport’s Joshua Jones rated Mikel Arteta’s men…

David Raya – 9

Produced a simply stunning double save to stop Mateo Retegui’s penalty and then flung himself across to push away the follow-up rebound header – even better than his effort to deny Ollie Watkins.

Robbie Savage labelled it the “best save I’ve ever seen” while Gunners fans lauded their Spanish hero, who has conceded just once in five games so far this term.

Ben White – 7

Given the daunting task of trying to keep Ademola Lookman quiet inside a rocking Gewiss Stadium but completed the job with his classic relaxed, languid demeanour.

William Saliba – 8

One of the world’s top centre-backs but did not need to be anywhere near his best – solid enough when called upon, including excellent late sliding tackle in own box.

Retegui showed great movement but Saliba will have far sterner tests this season, none more so than up against Erling Haaland on Sunday.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 7

Like his partner Saliba, Gabriel helped ensure the Arsenal defence came out on top.

Starting to run out of words to say about this pair who just concede so few chances.

Jurrien Timber – 7

Adds an extra dimension to this Arsenal side – showing just how much he was missed when sidelined last season.

Arguably had the easiest evening’s work of the four defenders.

Thomas Partey – 4

Martin Keown described the Gunners’ retraction en masse during the transition as Arteta putting up his own “Thames Barrier”.

But Partey nearly allowed the floodgates to open by giving away the penalty three minutes into the second half – only to be rescued by Raya’s heroics.

Declan Rice – 6

Top awareness to sniff out the Atalanta danger and help control midfield.

But squandered a great chance to drive Arsenal forward when he won the ball on the halfway line and could have launched a potent counter.

Kai Havertz – 6

With Jesus starting up front, Havertz dropped into a deeper role – but he is perfectly comfortable there, too, and can carry the ball forwards.

Little to show for his evening, though, but continued to put a shift in defensively until the final whistle.

Buakyo Saka – 6

Drew the foul from Ederson who collected an early yellow and from the resulting free-kick almost squeezed a low effort into bottom corner but for top save.

Given a breather for final 20 minutes with an eye on Sunday.

Gabriel Jesus – 5

Captain on the night was his typical busy self early on getting himself around but virtually all of his involvement was outside the Atalanta penalty area.

Withdrawn before the hour mark.

Gabriel Martinelli – 4

Struggled to get in the game and then when he did get in, squandered a really good chance when he blazed over.

Definitely not hitting top form so far this season and may well find himself among the subs against Manchester City.
