The little-known iPhone setting that’s draining your battery – how to fix it in seconds

A WELL-USED iPhone setting could be draining your battery without you realising it.

But that’s only if you’ve got an iPhone 12 or a later model.

There are lots of ways to limit your battery expenditure[/caption]

That is because these iPhone models can pick up 5G signals.

5G zaps your iPhone of more power than its 4G and 3G predecessors.

With more active radio bands comes more signal processing on your iPhone, and therefore a bigger workload is placed onto the processor and memory.

But you can actually turn off 5G in settings, and opt for its older sibling, 4G.

If you head to the mobile data section in your settings, you will be presented with three options: 5G Auto, 5G On, and LTE.

LTE, which stands for Long Term Evolution, is sometimes referred to as 4G LTE.

It lets you do all the same things 5G does, like download your favorite music, websites, and video, but slightly slower.

That being said, it is still much faster than the previous 3G technology that is currently being phased out in the UK.

If your phone is set to 5G On, then switching to one of the other options will save your phone some of its precious battery life.

But that’s not all you can do to limit your battery expenditure.

Dark mode

Dark mode makes all iPhone pages that usually appear white or light grey, show up in black instead.

Apple says its “perfect for low-light environments” – particularly if you’re trying to wind down at night.

But it can also greatly lower your iPhones power consumption.

  • Go to Settings, then tap Display & Brightness.
  • Select Dark to turn on Dark Mode.

White Point

Reducing the white point essentially dims your iPhones screen light.

You can slide it to where you want, but Reddit’s savvy iPhone owner recommended setting it to about 30%.

The more you want to save your battery, the higher you will want to put the slider.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap Accessibility.
  2. Tap Display & Text Size.
  3. Scroll down and tap the toggle switch for Reduce White Point to turn it on.
  4. Adjust the white point slider to increase or decrease the white point level.

CHECK YOUR IPHONE'S BATTERY USAGE

Here's what you need to do...

You can see a quick overview of your battery level and activity by going to Settings > Battery.

Tap a time period to see your Activity graph for the last 24 hours, or a set number of days.

You can also see a list of apps that contributed to your battery usage.

And it’ll display the amount of battery that was used by each individual app.

You can see how long each app was in use on the screen, as well as in the background.

Apple explains that you might see the following usage types:

  • Background Activity means that most of the app’s battery usage — such as playing music or tracking location — happened while the app was in the background.
  • No Cell Coverage and Low Signal means that your device was searching for a signal or being used with a low signal.
  • Connected to Charger means the app was used only when your device was charging.

If you’re worried about battery life and can’t get to a charger right away, consider turning Low Power Mode on to preserve it.

You can find this feature in your battery settings.

It comes complete with a radio set[/caption]

A well-preserved 1955 Humber Pig MKII Armoured Radio Truck can be bought from eBay for just £12,995.

The iconic vehicle, known as “The Pig,” weighs 6.5 tons and can carry up to eight crew members.

This rugged vehicle presents a unique chance to own a piece of British military history.

The lightly armoured truck, once used by the British Army from the 1950s until the early 1990s, gained notoriety during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, where it served as an armoured personnel carrier for the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC).

This particular model comes with a complete radio set, original paperwork, and a framed document noting its service from the Suez Crisis to its time in Northern Ireland.

Despite being well-loved by the current owner, it is now up for sale due to health and time constraints.

According to the listing, the vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition.

It features 4.26-litre Rolls-Royce B60 engine which “runs smoothly”, while the underside is “well-maintained”, having been regularly greased and coated with oil.

The seller has already completed several restoration tasks, including replacing the spark plugs, oil, hydraulic hatch cylinders, flooring, driver’s seat, steering wheel, and exhaust.

While some work remains, the truck is described as very original and solid.

It also comes with over £1,000-worth of spare parts, including a new clutch, exhaust manifold, and other components.

Although the truck hasn’t been on the road for a decade, it has been periodically moved through the gears, which are said to function properly.

The tyres, while showing some cracking, are still in good condition and include a spare.

The seller emphasises that this is their third Humber Pig, and mechanically, it is the best one they’ve owned, and that they are seeking serious offers only.

This comes as a unique armoured Rolls Royce that appeared in two hit movies is on sale for just £32,000 – which is £10k less than the price of the average UK car.

Pictures of the stripped French model were uploaded to X, formerly Twitter, back in 2017.

The wheels indicate that it is likely a Phase 1, with a 115-PS 1.4-litre turbo engine, sold between 1985 and 1987, according to motor1.com.

It is not known even what country the classic car was abandoned in.

The motor was left in a terrible condition, but its relatively intact bodywork likely means it was not involved in an accident.

It does, however, appear to have been raided for its parts.

The front wheels and rear bumper are missing, among other parts.

The model was able to outperform a number of other, pricier cars in its heydey.

The Phase 2 version – sold between 1987 and 1990 – was capable of going 0-60mph in just 7.7 seconds.

It had a top speed of more than 124mph.

The Renault Supercinco GT Turbo

IN January 1985, four months after the launch of the Supercinq, the GT Turbo was unveiled.

It had a modern style, featuring ‘innovative’ interior design, and boasted very strong performance, according to Renault.

The mechanics were true to the 1,400-cc 4-cylinder engine block but came equipped with a Garrett T2 turbo compressor.

This increased the power output to 115 HP and vastly improved the car’s acceleration.

It became the ‘Queen of the circuits’ for the R5 GT Cup and went on to have a lustrous career in rallies, and championships in France and around the world.

160,000 GT Turbo units were made between 1985 and 1987 (phase 1), and from 1987 to 1990 (phase 2).

Heidi Klum, 51, flashes side boob in tiny leopard print minidress as AGT judge hits the red carpet

Heidi Klum looked incredible as she flashed some major sideboob in a tiny leopard print minidress last night.

The America’s Got Talent judge, 51, struck some supermodel poses on the red carpet as she hit up two events in Los Angeles.

Showing off her killer pins, Heidi turned heads as she hosted the Fifth ‘Emmy Nominees Night’ for The Hollywood Reporter and SAG-AFTRA.

And while the Making The Cut host was out on the town, she also attended People magazine’s 50th Anniversary bash at Chain House.

The daring dresser went braless to showcase her ageless figure as she showed off her best angles for the waiting photographers.

Heidi also shook her blonde tresses and flashed her pearly whites for the cameras.

It comes as a body language expert branded Heidi ‘thirst trap central’ for her sexy antics on America’s Got Talent.

The series is hurtling towards its September 24 finale on NBC, but according to body language expert Judi James, Season 19 has divided the panel for the first time.

She claims Heidi and fellow judge Howie Mandel are intent on “producing their own talent show” via “attention-grabbing” antics.

Judi told the US Sun that Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell have “shown haughtiness” while Heidi and Howie are lapping up the camera time.

“Sofia and Simon have been taking the high ground status this season,” Judi said earlier this week.

“These two have shown haughtiness, which has emerged over time and from their hard stares at the camera.

“There is an air of intimidation about their poses that looks deliberately chosen to be seen as the trickier judges.”

Meanwhile, she compared Heidi and Howie’s body language to teenagers, poking out their tongues and giving “naughty grins.”

James claimed the pair are trying to come off as “rebels” on the NBC series.

Body language Judi James told The U.S. Sun that Heidi Klum and Howie Manel have been hamming it up for the cameras[/caption]

“The four judges entered the studio with Heidi poking out her tongue at the camera,” she said.

“This seemed to be Howie and Heidi’s intended behavioral style so far and has set the tone for this season.

“Heidi’s tongue gesture lets everyone know she is on Team Rebel with Howie.”

America's Got Talent judges

THOUSANDS of hopefuls have graced the America's Got Talent stage to showcase their abilities.

Here is some more information about the A-list judges.

Simon Cowell – On October 22, 2015, it was revealed Simon was replacing Howard Stern on the AGT judges panel. He became a judge during the program’s 11th season and has since remained a series regular.

Heidi Klum – In March 2013, Heidi was announced as Sharon Osbourne’s replacement on AGT. After a few seasons off, she returned during Season 15.

Sofia Vergara – On February 27, 2020, NBC revealed Sofia was replacing Gabrielle Union for AGT season 15.

Howie Mandel – Out of all the panelists, Howie Mandel is the longest-tenured judge on America’s Got Talent. Howie joined the hit reality series during the show’s 5th season replacing David Hasselhoff.
