Appalachian State Men’s Golf Finish Seventh at River Run Collegiate

Led by a tie for second place in a 66-player field from Alex Martin, who shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish with a 1-under total of 143, App State Men’s Golf placed seventh in the 11-team River Run Collegiate event hosted by Davidson.

Martin followed a first-round 74 with a final round that included four birdies. Four players finished at 1 under, three shots behind individual champion Joshua Stewart from Davidson.

Rain shortened the event from 54 holes to 36, and Davidson won by 11 strokes with a team total of 5 over. The Mountaineers had a 25-over total (304-297—601).

Making his App State debut this week, Ben Read shot a final-round 73 and was the Mountaineers’ next-highest finisher at 6 over (77-73—150). Aidan Browning finished at 7 over, helped by a 2-over 74 in the first round.

Rob Bergevin and Herman Huus also represented the Mountaineers, while Colin Browning competed as an individual.

The 2024-25 season is presented by Hound Ears Club.
