Five cash-saving tips to enjoy an autumn spa day without breaking the bank

AN autumn spa day can be the perfect way to unwind after the busy summer period.

But the cost of pampering can add to your stress rather than soothe it.

Lie back and chill with these ideas to save on your relaxation.

TIME IT RIGHT: You will pay more to visit a spa at peak hours over the weekend.

Instead, book a breakfast or evening package to enjoy the same facilities for less.

You can also get a better deal if you book Monday to Thursday.
Search “twilight spa” at spaseekers.com. If you book on the site through topcashback.com, you can currently get up to eight per cent of the cost returned.

FRIEND OR FOLLOW: You can get updates on any sales or discounts from your favourite spas by signing up for their newsletter or following them on social media.

They may offer competitions to win spa days or highlight any last-minute availability. If you’re flexible on dates, it’s an easy way to pick up a deal.

LEISURE CENTRE LUXE: For a cheaper pick-me-up, have a look at what your local leisure centre offers.

They are likely to have a pool which offers adults-only swim times and may have a hot tub or health suite with a sauna or steam room.

It will not be as luxurious as a five-star spa, but could still give you a welcome break.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY: There may be a health club in your local area that offers spa facilities alongside a pool and gym. Ask if they offer a trial day or one-day pass.

You can give the club a spin, without any obligation to commit to a subscription. Just stay strong if they do start the hard sell.

DEAL OR NO DEAL: Deal websites such as Groupon and Wowcher often have cheap spa day deals, as does Virgin Experience Days.

They can seem good value but look at independent reviews to check you will be getting the pampering you are looking for. Booking for a midweek visit should mean the spa is less crowded than at weekends.
