Daniel Dubois’ dad made fortune creating iconic poster ‘that sold millions’ before ‘vision’ told him to get son to box

AFTER being sacked from his job for being late, Daniel Dubois’ dad began selling posters on a stall at Camden Market in the 1980s.

He has since revealed that a spiritual vision instructed him to put his unborn child into professional boxing.

Dad Dave, whose birth name is Stanley, struck gold after selling millions of copies of a now iconic alien poster.

He told The Times: “I had a few artists draw me some images and I came out with a poster called, ‘Take me to your dealer’.

“It was an alien landing on earth passing over a Rizla, and it just blew up.

“That poster sold millions because people started wholesaling from me. I sold 80,000 copies to someone in France.”

Dave printed the posters in 2,000 runs for 5p each and sold them for £2.

He said: “We were taking 10 grand every Sunday at Camden Market.”

He then brought seven employees with him on a trip to New York and made £30,000 in the first week selling on 125th Street in Harlem.

Dave explained that Warner Brothers took him to court over a poster of Bugs Bunny smoking weed — ‘Buzz Bunny’.

Dave added: “I used to have a lot of visions when I was young and I always followed them.

“When I started doing the posters, that was a vision, and it worked.

“Then I got another vision saying I needed to have some children and put them into boxing, so that’s what I did.

“It was like I had been blessed by God or something. Everything I touched turned to gold.”

Son Dubois said: “Dad believed me and here we are. It’s all worked. His word is powerful. He’s almost like a prophet.”

Interim champ Dubois faces AJ for the IBF title in front of more than 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Joshua, 34, is the clear favourite – the Watford-born boxer seeks to become a three-times world champion.

But Dubois has rallied from defeats against Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk that ended in accusations of him quitting.

Sister Caroline claimed the WBC interim belt after dropping Uruguayan Maira Moneo in a unanimous points decision in August.

The unbeaten 23-year-old is targeting a future fight against WBC lightweight champion Katie Taylor.

And youngest boy Solomon, 12, is one of the best boxers in the country for his age.
