I’m a mum and love going on holiday without my kids – I refuse to be boring, that’s what grandparents are for

A MUM reckons more women should go on holiday and leave their kids at home.

Jaelyn Cox, 30, loves jetting off for sunshine breaks and thinks it’s important to treat herself well.

The mum likes spoiling herself when she can.

Though she loves spoiling Valentina, four, and Valencia, 18 months, she still finds it less stressful when she’s able to enjoy quality alone time.

The dancer, from Glasgow, said: “Going on holiday with your kids is so stressful.

“You actually need time to yourself as well and a wee two or three day holiday does mums the world of good.

“I can’t get a babysitter for one week so I just go three day holidays and my mum is happy to watch them.

“I feel like a lot of people don’t separate mum life to their personal life.

“Just because you’re a mum doesn’t mean you’ve got to be boring and sit in the house and clean.”

Jaelyn added: “Go out, get a drink, get your make up and hair done, enjoy your kid free night and make the most of it.

“Too many mums think that being around their kids 24/7 and not working and being a stay at home mum makes them a good mum.

“I am sorry to say but it doesn’t as your kid needs a break from you as well.

“A happy mum is a good mum. With my first kid I used to never go out and if a got a kid free night, I never let anyone watch her.

“I didn’t put her into nursery until she was two and I stopped working and it started affecting me mentally.

“The minute I started working again and putting my kid into nursery and having a routine I felt happier and so did my daughter as she loved going into nursery and having friends.

“Mums deserve a break as well so just because you’ve become a mum doesn’t mean you’ve to stop living.”
