VHS took a 28-14 loss to Terry

Vicksburg High School football team took a 28-14 loss to Terry on Friday night.

The Gators had some successful plays on offense and defense in the first quarter, including a 45-yard run by Cedric Blackmore and a couple of first-down runs by DeCorey Knight Jr. Neither team found their way into the end zone by the end of the first quarter as Dennis Battle, Jadarius Henderson, and Mincer Minor IV all came along with multiple stops. Minor caught an interception late in the first half.

Less than two minutes into the second quarter, the Bulldogs scored on a 9-yard run. After an over-the-head snap, Terry was placed on the 2-yard line and scored as they went up 14-0 by halftime.

Coming out of halftime, the Bulldogs nearly scored again but VHS forced a fumble which gave the Gators the ball. Although VHS made multiple stops, Terry scored 14 unanswered points after a short touchdown run and a blocked punt that went for a touchdown.

With 1:32 left in the third quarter, DeCorey Knight Jr. scored on a 65-yard touchdown. Abel Gonzalez kicked the successful extra point. Marquis Knight and Jacoby Smith made some big plays in the fourth quarter with Jamikal Maxey throwing the ball. Ced Blackmore got the final score of the night from a short run to put things at 28-14.

The Gators are 0-4 and will hit the road to face Yazoo City next Friday.
