Images shared of man sought in valet beating at West Hollywood Barney’s Beanery

Authorities have released several images of a man sought in five assaults, including the brutal beating of a valet at the West Hollywood Barney’s Beanery earlier this month.

The cafe’s long-time valet Frankie Zarazua was attacked and left unconscious outside the popular hangout on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The same suspect is believed to be responsible for four other assaults committed in West Hollywood between 10:15 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. the same night, according to a special bulletin issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Thursday.

Investigators say the suspect is known to frequent the area and is likely homeless.

Zarazua was working Saturday night when the suspect approached and punched him in the face without provocation, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The punch sent Zarazua to the ground where he lost consciousness after hitting his head on the pavement.

“The suspect then kicked the victim approximately ten times on his head and upper torso,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Zarazua was taken to an intensive care unit after sustaining multiple injuries to his head, neck and body, Barney’s Beanery posted on Instagram after the incident.

The suspect ran eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard and is still on the loose.

He was described as a Black man standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a short beard. He was shirtless at the time of the attack on Zarazua but was seen wearing a white hat and gray pants.

Detectives are also searching for any additional victims or witnesses of the attacks Saturday night.

Anyone with further information was asked to contact the Sherrif’s Department at 310-358-4033. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
