Major Freeview shake-up sees THREE new channels with classic TV sitcoms & movies – but there are some closures too

FREEVIEW has undergone a fresh shake-up that sees the arrival of some new channels – and the disappearance of others.

And the biggest of the bunch is a Brit nostalgia channel, Rewind TV, which has been exclusive to Sky up until now.

Rewind TV burst onto the airwaves in May but from this week it’s available for free on Freeview.

It broadcasts a number of old favourites, including Drop The Dead Donkey, GlobeLink News, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Worzel Gummidge Down Under, and A Fine Romance, starring Judi Dench and her late husband Michael.

Here are some more classics you can expect to see on the channel:

  • Return of The Saint
  • Department S
  • Whicker’s World
  • That’s My Dog
  • Surgical Spirit
  • The Cuckoo Waltz
  • Dick Turpin
  • Huckleberry Finn and His Friends

Rewind TV can be found on Freeview channel number 95.

Meanwhile, on number 96 you’ll now find Christian channel SonLife.

And that’s not all – there’s a free movie channel too.

Wedotv movies can be accessed via channel 275.

But this is a streamed channel so you’ll need to have an internet-connected Freeview TV or box to access it.

Sadly, some channels have also disappeared in the latest overhaul.

Real-life drama and stories channel GREAT! Real recently closed, so it has disappeared from the TV guide position 61.

Mech+ on 276 has also gone.

There are some changes to existing channels as well, including GREAT! Romance.

It has temporarily been replaced with GREAT! Christmas.

The Christmas-themed offering landed on September 5 and has already divided opinion, with some viewers saying it’s too early.

“Hold on we haven’t passed Halloween yet for Christmas,” one user wrote on X.

But others were more welcoming of the channel, saying:” The obvious answer is if you think it’s too early don’t watch, simples!”

GREAT! Christmas can be found on channel number 52.

Elsewhere, That’s Rock MCR has rebranded to That’s Fabulous on number 78.

“You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date,” Freeview warned.
