Malusi Booi co-accused in R1b tender fraud case gunned down

Fraud and corruption-accused Mitchells Plain construction boss Abdul Kader Davids who was charged alongside former City of Cape Town housing MMC and Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Malusi Booi, has been shot dead.

The Cape Town Magistrate’s Court granted Davids bail of R250 000 on Tuesday, 17 September.

Davids was gunned down in a hail of bullets in Beacon Valley on Thursday night while walking in Ascot Street at around 21:00.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in the Western Cape Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said preliminary reports suggest that unknown gunmen opened fire on the 42-year-old victim who was declared deceased by medical personnel who attended to the scene.

“The motive for this murder is now the subject of an investigation by the South African Police Service. Mitchells Plain police registered a murder case for further investigation,” Pojie said.
